< The 'Quest' - Chapter XXVIII

To Slay the Beast, We Will Unite

Full Log

[Narrator] Previously on the 'Quest'

[Narrator] Shandor: At the end of the final Race War gifts were forged for each of the fighters, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs and Trolls. Only one set were made of each, and over time they have faded into myth and legend. Now, however, great scholars have unravelled information to the whereabouts of a great, great evil.

[Narrator] Shandor: Only the gifts, brought together, can defeat this evil. And only a worthy member from the race they were given to could wear them. These scholars have found the location of the gifts, there are scattered throughout the world. But the Evil has stayed near all along.

[Narrator] Shandor: At this very moment, the evil lies buried underneath this fine city of Tildruin. We cannot approach the chamber without the gifts, as they unlock the doors to the chamber. Those who gave the gifts, believed to be Grand Nanjarii, said that only by coming together could the races defeat the evil. The races ignored this and went their separate ways, and this event could cost everyone here their lives

[Narrator] To the Elves were given a bow of solid gold and a robe woven from gold. Granted to the Dwarves a stone of axe and a suit of perfect armor. The. Trolls receive the legendary 'Skull' club and the skin of a Griffon. A staff of earth and a Yew wand the Halflings did get. Humans are given the legendary long sword 'Protector' and a book of every spell conceived. To the Orcs were given a helmet of protection and the Polearm of Narrgh Arukhnar, an Orcish King.

[Narrator] The First Gifts: Shandor uses his open hand to yell, 'Ri-tay, Olan.' The two Gifts on the alter fly through the air. Shandor instinctively catches them, they begin to burn his hands, he drops them to the ground. The shape reforms on the alter, 'You shall pay,' It roars. BarKeep slices it in half with the human gift sword.

[Narrator] The Second Gifts:

Shandor says, 'Grab those Gifts, now!' Karron hastily throws the armour on and wields the axe. Narrator As they try to move an earthquake begins above and around them. Narrator The tunnel out disappears in dust and rubble. Narrator Something large tears half of the room out leaving a large crater. Narrator Above them is another chamber, a giant beast is above them. Narrator A giant arm of stone pounds down at them.

[Narrator] The Third Gifts: TownCrier is standing next to the palace shouting, 'Hear ye, hear ye! Museum gets ancient items, a bow and robe of solid gold!' Shandor takes a few steps back and then charges forward. He leaps as he grabs both the bow and the robe, at the same moment he kicks of the wall behind the bow. He lands on the ground. Narrator The alarm sounds as arrows fly to where Shandor was.

[Narrator] The Fourth Gifts: Inside the box were the Halfling Gifts; a Yew Wand and a Staff of Earth. Shandor calls Nomyn to pick them up. As Nomyn picks them up the ground quakes, two metres in front of the Halfling a great Giant appears, the wagon explodes as the Giant towers high in the sky. Shandor rolls his eyes sarcastically, 'A Giant for the Halflings… Oh yeah, that's real original…'

[Narrator] The Fifth Gifts: At the end of the sloping tunnel was a dimly lit room. On a jagged rock, jutting out from the wall, a skin of a Griffon lies, glowing softly. Beneath it lies a white club, the end of which appears to be carved out into the shape of a skull. Rows of teeth jut from its jaws. Faelnon says, 'These are the Troll Gifts.'

[Narrator] The Sixth, and Finale Gifts: Golden light appears at the weapons, some of it is in the helmet. Golden hands reach out and tear out the polearm. It is wearing the helmet. The golden light begins to take more shape, a humanoid form, slightly taller than an elf. Its skin takes on a dark-green colour. As the shape comes into reality it is quite clear what it is. It is a tall Orc. It roars fiercely, twirling the polearm around itself

[Narrator] The Orc is lifted to its feet, its eyes go blood-red, 'Fools! Run and play with your toys, for the new dawn is coming. Your world is over, now comes the time of darkness, my ruler will control all.' With that the corpse explodes into flames.

[Narrator] The second Shandor-figure grins and hollers, 'My master's work has been completed, from the giant's grave it will be born anew, trapped for millennia alone. Now you will be alone! No gods or higher beings to turn to. A cold, cruel death faces each and everyone of you.'

[Narrator] And Now, on The 'Quest' Grand Finale

[Narrator] They have made it, for many months they travelled across the world, collecting the Gifts. Now, they have them all and are back where this all began and where this all shall end.

[Narrator] Tildruin is blissfully ignorant of the Evil that lies beneath the fair city. Its walls, rather than keep out any attackers lurking, keeps in the biggest attacker resting.

[Narrator] The group ride in on their horses. It is a warm mid-morning and the air is crisp and refreshing.

[Narrator] Faelnon had been given instructions from Lestat, when he returned with a piece of parchment, to meet at an inn in Tildruin called The Flight of the Dragon.

Faelnon gives an unexplained chuckle at the name. He had been there once before with Shandor and his old group.

Faelnon looks about, at the sky in particular.

Faelnon asks, 'How are we all feeling?'

Dytalorien yawns and scratches his head absent-mindedly.

Lesharn twirls a flute in one hand.

Kalypse yawns 'I’m fine..'

Dytalorien imitates Lesharn but fumbles and scrambles to recover his flute before it falls to the earth.

Tengu flexes his limbs.

Lesharn chuckles at Dytalorien.

Cyria yawns, "just a little tired"

Shandor remembers when Thor and himself frequented the inn and the first time in years Thor met his family again.

[Narrator] Only fitting then, that Thor, Thinn, Totil, Ariea, Mugh, Foilae and Nomyn stood outside the inn smiling a welcoming smile.

Echnaton just smiles

Dytalorien mumbles and grips his silver flute more firmly.

Faelnon stops his horse and waves warmly.

Shandor jumps off his horse and embraces Ariea in a hug.

Dytalorien waves casually to the gathered.

Kalypse waves

Mihwen dismounts her horse

Tengu bows to new people.

Cyria dismounts her horse and stretches

Dytalorien dismounts gracefully and looks about his surroundings.

Faelnon climbs of his horse and greets Foilae and the others.

Echnaton greets the waiting group and dismounts

Faelnon looks at the inn, 'I take it things have been set up?'

Mihwen thinks for herself 'finally home'

Faelnon smiles at the affirmative reply.

Faelnon turns around, 'Okay, we might as well get some breakfast.'

Shandor says, 'No use dying on an empty stomach.'

Faelnon turns to Shandor, 'Cheerful as ever I see.'

Erasmus , a young human, steps through the crowd into the inn quickly.

Kalypse dismounts and walks inside the inn

Dytalorien grins, "I don't know, I think I'd make a better ghost if I were hungry."

Lesharn ‘s eye become lively at the sound of food.

Mihwen says 'I need to see my father for a short while' as she leaves the inn

Tengu states, "No use to drain your body at the eve of the great battle."

Faelnon pushes the door to the inn open and lets Ariea in first.

Kalypse asks Dytalorien 'a better ghost?"

Dytalorien nods and grins, "Y'know, more pain, torment, and all that good stuff."

[Narrator] The inn is quiet spacious, a generously portioned bar-area, filled with simple table and chairs, and an elegant oak bar. There was a small stairwell leading to a simple corridor with twelve or so doors leading off to rooms.

[Narrator] With it being warm the fireplace sat empty. The Gnomish barkeep sat on a concealed barstool behind the bar that ran along small groves in the floor so he could get along the bar and not 'disappear'.

Lesharn says, 'Will we be staying here for the night?'

[Narrator] A section of the room had been cordoned off with rope, scrolls and books had been lain on a large table in that area. There were no chairs.

Faelnon turns to Lesharn, 'If we survive we'll stay here.'

Lesharn gulps.

Shandor rolls his eyes, 'Now who is being cheerful?'

Dytalorien raises his hand, "Me?"

Faelnon notes two figures that were stood next to the table, both were Wise Elves, whom he had discussed the Gift's with.

Faelnon states, 'Buy whatever you want, gentlemen and women… and dwarves. It's on me.' He chuckles and adds, 'If we don't survive this, at least I don't have to pay the tab.'

Cyria laughs

Erasmus sits drinking cider and glances at the group from across the room.

Echnaton just laughs

Dytalorien taps his flute against his head as he leans against a nearby wall.

Tengu asks for a mug of rice and water.

Kalypse shrugs

Mihwen enters the inn yet again

Faelnon moves over to talk with the Wise Elves. He displays a scroll of the blue-prints of the underground complex where the Evil lurks.

Cyria walks over to Dytalorien

Echnaton orders some food and beverage

Faelnon spots a ancient-looking trowel on the table, 'Where did that come from?'

Ailashaar stands obscured by the shadows, leaning on his staff, quietly observing the conversation.

Lesharn shudders and comforts himself with a raspberry pie.

Lesharn licks his fingers - sticky!

[Narrator] One of the Wise Elves turns to him, 'It seemed to just appear with one of the scrolls, we can't explain it. Maybe the Gnome was a gardener…'

Dytalorien nods to Cyria and waves.

Faelnon shrugs and pockets it, 'Might come in use later.'

Kalypse smiles at Lesharn 'you and your pies...'

Shandor orders himself some bread.

Cyria asks Dytalorien, "Maybe you could play a song to liven the mood a little"

Lesharn blushes at Kalypse.

Mihwen smiles at Kalypse 'when he's happy he speak about food'

Shandor adds, 'Or singing.'

Echnaton agrees "good idea"

Kalypse laughs 'then we should all be most amazed if he gets fat, then we would know he is really happy..'

Lesharn says, 'This chest we found in the wraith ruins is getting kinda heavy...'

Shandor grins at Kalypse.

Shandor says, 'Perhaps you can store it here...'

Lesharn chuckles politely.

Faelnon nods towards Lesharn and Shandor as he continues his discussion with the Elves

Lesharn says, 'If only we had someone who could open it'

[Narrator] Thor stumbles towards it, 'Lemme take me axe to it, that'll open it!'

Kalypse asks getting back her attention 'open what?'

Tengu consumes his meal calmly with serene look on his face.

Lesharn says, 'a locked chest of some sorts, they said terrible things would happen if I kept it...'

Echnaton turns around curiously

Lesharn wrinkles his nose at Thor.

Dytalorien blinks and stares at Lesharn.

Kalypse says 'If its that dangerous.. are you sure breaking it is the best option?'

Lesharn gets a mended oaken lyre from his satchel and starts to restring it.

Shandor begins eating.

Dytalorien shakes his head and grins, "Does your mother know what a mischievous halfling she has raised?"

Shandor goes over to Ariea and begins talking.

Lesharn giggles at Dytalorien.

Erasmus rises from his seat and approaches the group.

Mihwen walks up to Faelnon 'so what’s the plan for today?'

Erasmus says, "Hail, I couldn't help overhearing before...it seems that my recent uneasy feelings of this city may be supported after all."

Faelnon waves his hand dismissively to Mihwen, 'We are just working on that at this very moment.'

Echnaton greets Erasmus

Erasmus says, "Pleasure to meet you all. I am Erasmus."

Faelnon nods to Erasmus, to consumed with planning to give a verbal reply.

[Narrator] After a few minutes Faelnon calls his old group over to the table, except Shandor and Ariea, who disappeared from the inn a few minutes earlier and had not been seen again.

Kalypse smiles at Erasmus 'Pleased to meet you, sir.'

Mihwen turns around and gives Erasmus a small nod 'I’m Mihwen'

Erasmus uneasily takes a seat nearby the crowd.

Faelnon mumbles to the old group, 'We need more space, can you bring this table outside?'

[Narrator] Thor instantly shouts, 'Har! It's no trouble for us strong dwarves! Ey, don't you be going and enchantin' this thin' 'eavy now or nothin''

Faelnon grins, 'Would I ever? Just get the table out…'

[Narrator] The table goes out along with the old group and the Wise Elves.

Mihwen shakes her head

Erasmus asks, "May I join you folks outside? I'm most interested in these matters."

Cyria nods and walks outside

Faelnon leaves the inn.

Mihwen stands up, fix her dress and walks outside

Tengu nods.

[Narrator] Outside it is like a circus, a wonderful circus, but a circus nonetheless. The old group stand next to the table along with the Wise Elves, but to the left of them are a group of Troll Fighters, Shamens and Hunters.

Kalypse follows the group outside while eating a few cherries

Erasmus follows the group with curiosity.

[Narrator] To the right of the inn are Human fighters, clad in near identical armour. In front of the inn and beyond the table lies another group of Elven Archers (equipped with the finest bows) and some Elven fighters and rangers, beyond that Gnome Mages and Elves Mages intermingled.

[Narrator] A line of Dwarves are in front of the Humans.

[Narrator] In front of the Troll group is a small contingent of Halfling Assassins. Finally at the back are a group of Elven and Human Healers and Priests.

[Narrator] For the Orcs there is only Mugh.

[Narrator] They are all wearing some of the finest armour and weaponry created, all ready to do battle.

[Narrator] The Trolls are led by a particularly large Troll with a bone sash across his chest. The Troll-Gift, skin of a Griffon is draped over his shoulders and he has the 'Skull' club firmly in his hand. His name is Olaf Mushmaker.

[Narrator] The Dwarves are led by Thor and Thinn, one wields the stone axe, one of the Gifts, the other wears the other Gift, a suit of 'perfect' armour.

[Narrator] The Elves are lead by Shandor, still clad in black, who wields the Elven Gift, the magical golden bow, with no bowstring (although, at this moment Shandor is not within sight).

[Narrator] The Halflings are lead, oddly, by Nomyn the Halfling. He has a yew wand and the Staff of the Earth.

[Narrator] The Humans are lead by tall, beautiful female by the name of Clarice. She holds the sword, 'Protector', the book of spells has been handed to the only human mage she brought with.

[Narrator] Leading the Gnomes is an unusually small Gnome by the name of Tribeltrie. The Gnomes, however, have no Gift to wield, it was thought, and vaguely mentioned in several Gift-related manuscripts, that they did not have any Gifts as they did not fight in the last great Race War.

[Narrator] Mugh, as the only Orc, wears the Gifts for his people.

Faelnon is clad in the Golden Robe, an Elven Gift, he also has a necklace of gold with an emerald stone in a pendant, a symbol of leadership for the Elves.

Faelnon smiles at the troops.

Faelnon stands at the 'war' table (as dubbed by several of the mass of troops). He summons forth the leaders of the groups, and the Wise Elves, he invites the group to stand slightly closer to get a better hearing on the proceedings.

Dytalorien shifts his weight uncomfortably in the midst of so many.

Mihwen looks around 'now this was a surprise'

Faelnon cocks an eyebrow at the absence of the Orcs, but remembers some turmoil they are undergoing at the moment.

Faelnon leans against the table and turns around to the group, 'Listen up, this is very important.'

Cyria says in shock, "I had never thought I would see the great races of this land combine in force"

Faelnon smiles at Cyria, 'That was our goal.'

Echnaton 's eyes slowly wander over the respectable troops

Faelnon sighs slightly and takes a deep breath before beginning, 'You all know why you have been assembled here. A great Evil lurks beneath, and we are here to stop it.'

Faelnon points to a section on the blue-prints that appears to be an entrance, it comes with a few instructions. 'This is where we enter.'

Faelnon runs his finger down a small 'corridor' leading to a large door leading to a chamber that did not fit on the blueprint.

Faelnon taps the door with his forefinger, 'This is it. After the Gifts open the door' He turns to Olaf the Troll, 'You take your fighters to the western side of the chamber and get ready for a side assault on the Evil.'

Faelnon turns to the female-human leader, Clarice, 'Take your troops to the eastern side and prepare for an attack on the other side.'

Faelnon turns to Shandor, 'Keep the archers at the doorway, or as close to it as possible, order them to use their arrows only when they can clearly see the Evil, which judging by this chamber, shouldn't be hard to spot.'

Shandor , just returning, nods.

Faelnon turns to the Gnome leader, Tribeltrie, 'Stay behind the archers, you will take command of the Elven mages, too. Use whatever spells you have, defence spells for our troops, something to help them, when in trouble and general spells for attacking the creature.'

Faelnon turns to the dwarves, Thor and Thinn, 'You will lead the dwarves in a frontal assault, take the Elven fighters with you, I will no doubt be joining this troop as well.'

Faelnon turns to Nomyn, 'Try to sneak up on the creature, perhaps climbing onto it and blinding it or some such tactic.'

Faelnon says to Mugh, 'Go with whomever you wish and do your best.'

Faelnon then turns to his group, 'Okay, listen up. As far as we are concerned this group ended when we left the inn. You are being split up depending on your skills, accept your new leadership and know that we are all with you. Rangers, fighters, hunters, and anything of that nature, go with Thor and Thinn.' He adds, 'No matter what race you are.'

Faelnon continues, 'Mages, follow Tribeltrie the Gnome. Foilae, go with the mages too. Archers, stay with Shandor. Assassins or those of a stealthy nature, go with Nomyn the Halfling.'

Faelnon finishes, 'Healers and Priests stay back with the others, I will lead you to your place, from then on in, just try and help who you can. Monks, you have the choice of being with the Healers and Priests or going up with the attack.'

Faelnon turns and addresses the larger group, 'Everyone, follow your orders no-matter who issues them.'

Faelnon notices something on a scroll from the A'lure Elves, 'You are our Spirits' Saviours.' He smiles and says, 'It looks like we have a name for ourselves, we, the Spirits' Saviours.'

Dytalorien nods and replaces his flute within his belongings.

Faelnon breathes deeply, 'Okay, that is all.'

Shandor and Ariea are grinning.

Faelnon turns to Shandor and Ariea, 'And where were you two?'

Tengu nods and moves towards dwarves.

Dytalorien grins, "How nice, we get to die first."

Shandor lifts up his and Ariea's hands, both have a simple, gold, human-made ring on their third finger, 'We are officially Elf and wife.'

Mihwen walks up to Kalypse and smiles 'guess we're stuck with each ther'

Faelnon grins, 'Congratulations, I can't say your families will be very pleased that you didn't get married in A'lure and that they weren't there.'

Echnaton takes a deep breath, heads over to Shandor and the archers and then gets the bow ready

Kalypse nods to Mihwen

Shandor shrugs, 'Hey, if I'm going to die, I'm at least having a wife that will mourn me.'

Erasmus heads over to the priests and healers.

[Narrator] Ariea grins, 'If you die again, I'll kill you.'

Mihwen looks around for Lesharn

Kalypse says 'what a thought, Shandor.....'

Faelnon reassures them, 'Trust me, no-one is going to die.'

Faelnon continues, 'Shandor, I do have something to ask, could you find…' He begins giving a message to Shandor along with an official-looking scroll.

Cyria walks over to Thor's group

Lesharn s face goes pale.

Shandor takes off into the city, before returning a few minutes later, nodding.

Dytalorien chuckles to himself and moves towards his appointed 'group'.

Echnaton smirks over to Faelnon and mumbles "that they say every time"

Mihwen says 'Lesharn who will you follow?'

Tengu bows to Dwarven leaders, "It would be an honour to fight under your command. I've heard of your skills in fighting underground."

[Narrator] Thor looks at Thinn before saying, 'Eh, ah don't recall ahver ‘aving a fight un’erground...'

Faelnon says, 'Bards should probably stay with the healers, and I'm sure Lesharn could cheer up the wounded with a song.'

Lesharn moves to the healers group.

Erasmus smiles and nods at Lesharn as he approaches.

Mihwen looks at Kalypse and Lesharn 'lets keep together'

Kalypse says 'I suppose me and Mihwen should go with the healers too'

Kalypse nods

Lesharn nods at Mihwen.

Lesharn clasps his satchel close to his body seeking comfort.

Shandor looks at the surprising lack of congratulations about his marriage, 'I don't think our families are the only ones that don't approve of us not getting married in the elven way...'

Faelnon smiles, 'Don't worry about it.'

Faelnon stands up on the table and hollers over the talking that has begun, 'We have a task to complete, let us away to complete it!'

Faelnon says a quick prayer to the Spirits, and three other 'higher beings' to protect his group.

Faelnon leads his way to the front of the Spirits' Saviours, Shandor, Thor, Thinn and the other group leaders follow, behind them are the other groups.

Faelnon turns to Shandor, 'Are you sure you wouldn't like to lead? I mean, you did start all this…'

Shandor grins, waving his hands, 'Oh no, I'm not getting the blame if this all goes wrong.'

Tengu whispers something to himself, only last words are audible, "...at the circle's end, shall I embrace my Last Sleep."

Faelnon sighs, 'Drats nearly had you, I guess I'll just have to have the memorial statue that is sure to be built.'

[Narrator] The group leave the confines of Tildruin-city and head into the surrounding forests.

Ailashaar tilts his head slightly as if hearing something distant, and then fades from view.

Erasmus strokes a holy symbol worn around his neck with concern.

[Narrator] Several minutes in they find a small mound with nothing spectacular about it.

Shandor asks, doubt in his voice, 'This is it?'

Faelnon nods, 'This is it.'

Cyria stands next to Tengu

Lesharn says, 'I guess this makes us grave-robbers?'

Shandor answers, ‘Not if the thing isn’t dead…’

Faelnon climbs to the top of the mound so he can have a better look at the Spirits' Saviours, 'In order for this entrance to open, and listen carefully, a member of each race must say, in his or her own language To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.'

Faelnon says calmly in Elven ~To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.~

[Narrator] Mugh growls, warriors rage building up inside him, in Orcish (To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.)

[Narrator] Thor and Thinn say in unison in Dwarven < To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.>

Lesharn says in halfling, 'Fari deli mirile dalof'

[Narrator] Tribeltrie states quickly in Gnome [To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.]

[Narrator] Nomyn squeaks in Halfling-tongue | To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.| Luckily he is positioned near the entrance or it is doubtable whether he could be heard.

[Narrator] Olaf, while pounding his chest proudly, yells in Troll { To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.}

[Narrator] Clarice says in human, or common-tongue, 'To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite.'

[Narrator] Nothing happens.

Faelnon coughs, 'Ahem…' He steps down from the mount and gives it a swift kick.

[Narrator] The mound begins whirring as white-light pours through the grass and earth spelling out "To Slay The Beast, We Will Unite." In every language. The door begins to form, marble with gold lining, it swings open. It leaves a dark, sloping corridor, just tall enough for the Trolls with the group.

Shandor smiles, 'Perhaps you should have tried that first?'

Faelnon takes a careful step into the tunnel, nothing spectacular happens.

Cyria smiles and says to Tengu, "please don't do anything like last time"

Kalypse shivers

Faelnon proceeds inwards, followed by Shandor and the other group leaders.

Faelnon calls, 'Come along.'

Echnaton takes two arrows from the quiver, holding both in one hand

Lesharn coughs, 'This place has a damp stench to it'

Faelnon says, 'I should think so, it has been locked up for untold millennia.'

Echnaton stays close behind Shandor

Shandor lights a torch Olaf handed him.

Lesharn mutters something about pies and not having any.

Mihwen follows the flow into the tunnel

Erasmus follows along in amazement.

[Narrator] For several minutes the group travel in silence down the sloping corridor peering unconsciously over their shoulders, the feeling of being watched overwhelming.

Kalypse hands Lesharn a few cherries

[Narrator] Periodically through the corridor a large tree root has burst through the roof, dirt slowly seeping in along with water.

[Narrator] Finally the corridor splits into three.

Lesharn smiles as he devours the cherries.

Faelnon takes out the scrolls and asks Shandor to move his torch closer so he can read it better. 'Let's see… yes, this one to the left is the living-quarters for construction crew. The right is where they - whoever built this place - kept their tools and building supplies. And where we are heading is straight on.'

Faelnon continues forward.

Faelnon comes to a shuddering halt, 'Whoa there!' He grabs Shandor's torch and waves it in front of his feet. A pit, however it did not appear to be some trap, but wear and tear of the building and time.

Faelnon takes a careful, long, step over the pit and continues further along so the others may get over.

Lesharn says, 'uhm, how do I cross that?

Cyria continues carefully after the troops

[Narrator] Olaf the Troll picks up Lesharn and puts him on the other side.

Mihwen smiles and point at a troll

Lesharn thanks Olaf the troll.

Mihwen smiles at Lesharn 'not many halfling been carried by trolls right?

Tengu easily jumps over the pit and waits for dwarves.

Lesharn nods slowly apparently not knowing what to say.

Faelnon continues forward.

Erasmus leaps over the pit and lands clumsily.

Echnaton crosses the pit with one long step

Kalypse warms up her legs that haven’t been into actual action for a while and jumps the pit

Mihwen says 'So what will people do when this is all over?'

Faelnon says, 'I intend to go back to A'lure and set up a healing practise.'

Shandor says, 'I would like to start up a shop, perhaps in Tildruin.'

Cyria says, "I really don't know..."

Lesharn says, 'I plan to return to home in shame over losing my job at the royal courts of Valgarn'

Tengu says, "I'll return to the monastery, I think."

Mihwen says, 'first of all I’ll try to translate the scrolls we found'

Faelnon says, 'After you help defeat this, when you return you will probably get a parade.'

Kalypse mutters something about becoming a more useful druid

Erasmus dreams, "Perhaps I will get a singing bird, I always have wanted one..."

Lesharn says, 'I never been to such a place, but a priest once told me that a monastery is much like an orchard.'

Erasmus nods in understanding of Lesharn's statement.

Lesharn says, 'he went on at length about picking the bad apples from the rest, but I don’t recall it all'

Tengu wonders, "An orchard? Not much growth in Gordawir, we barely manage to keep a small herd of sheep."

Lesharn says, 'I believe he was speaking in riddles, and pictures of the soul as he put it'

Rue steps out of the shadows. "Discussing what's going to happen after the battle already? And we haven't even begun to fight..."

Faelnon says, 'Hello Rue.'

Lesharn says, 'I have never been to Gordawir, but I imagine the view is great'

Faelnon says, 'We need something to cheer us up.'

Lesharn says, 'I never learned how to fight... but Shandor promised to teach me, but he died and came back as a wraith and so forth. can't blame him'

Kalypse greets Rue

Shandor coughs, 'Sorry, but I was dead and evil, you know.'

Rue smiles at everyone. "A hard lot to find, you are."

Mihwen smiles 'bad excuse'

[Narrator] The corridor begins to widen, but still slopes downwards. The floor is now covered in a thick layer of dirt.

Lesharn waves at Rue.

Faelnon comments, 'It is getting brighter around here… must be magic.'

Lesharn says, 'Yes, we seem to venture into these type of surroundings often...'

[Narrator] The corridor sharply narrows in a 'V' shape, but there is an unusually large door at the bottom of the 'V', and the floor levels out.

[Narrator] Along the left side of the 'V' wall there is a socket for what appears to be the Orc-polearm-Gift. Next comes a hook of sorts for the Orc-Gift Helmet of Protection.

[Narrator] After this is a slot for the Human-Gift The Sword 'Protector'. Beside that is a slot for the Human-Gift The Book of Spells.

[Narrator] Next come two narrow slots next to each other for the Halfling-Gifts The Staff of Earth and a Yew Wand.

[Narrator] On the other side starting from the back of the 'V' wall towards the door are slots for the other Gifts, first up is a socket and a hook for the Troll Gifts.

[Narrator] Next is a space for the Dwarven Gifts.

[Narrator] Finally there is a hook for the Elven-Gift Robe of Gold. There is a bow-shaped slot for the Elven-Gift bow.

[Narrator] The twin-door itself appears enchanted, but by what Faelnon does not care to guess. The two handles are nothing spectacular, but curiously there is a small hole under the handles, not for a key as it slopes downwards.

Shandor whistles.

Lesharn gasps.

Rue looks at the slots. "So now we give up the gifts?"

Faelnon says, 'I guess so...'

Echnaton seems impressed

Faelnon states the obvious, 'Okay, this is it, put the Gifts in their places.'

Faelnon takes off the robe and places it on the hook

Shandor slides the bow into place.

Lesharn twitches and says, 'bad things are about to happen, I can feel it'

Cyria says to herself, "So this is it..."

[Narrator] Thor sighs and begins to take of the armour.

Rue brushes her hair back behind her shoulders and waits for something to happen.

Echnaton smiles and holds up his bow a bit

Faelnon says, 'We are about to go against the very meaning of Evil, I would say that counts as a bad thing, Lesharn.'

Erasmus rubs his hands together, warming up for some heavy-duty praying.

Lesharn holds a flute in one hand a lyre in the other, his feet assuming a defensive position or something.

[Narrator] Thor finishes taking off the armour and puts it into place.

[Narrator] After all the Gifts are placed they whine for a moment before clicking and not moving.

Rue raises an eyebrow and looks at Lesharn. "Those aren't going to do you much good my friend." she smiles. "Remember what happens to your last ill-fated lyre in the heat of battle?" she smirks.

Faelnon cocks an eyebrow and tries to take the golden robe off, but it refuses to move.

Tengu is unusually silent.

Lesharn sniffs at Rue.

Shandor asks, 'Now what?'

Faelnon crosses his arms and thinks for a long moment, he was remembering what the Gnome had said during his exceedingly long explanation, 'Trust your mind, if that doesn't work, trust what is under your feet.' He nods and smiles, 'Of course!'

Faelnon takes out the trowel which appeared from the scrolls magically and scoops up some dirt and pours it into the hole at the door.

[Narrator] Everything begins to whine and glow, the Troll and Orc Gifts jet off from their hooks, as do the Human and the Dwarven Gifts, finally the Halfling and Elven Gifts blast off their sockets.

Faelnon ducks a sword and he grabs the golden robe and slips it on.

Shandor grabs the Gift-bow.

Rue smiles helpfully. "I do have a dagger you could use...but..." She stops and looks at the gifts with a yelp.

Echnaton eyes wander around in the group and he looks for a short moment to each of the fellows.

[Narrator] The Other group leaders grab their Gifts.

Rue ducks as gifts fly past her.

Shandor pats Faelnon on the back and says sarcastically, 'Wow, that is great, you've managed to get us down here, have weapons flying around us and now what?'

Cyria asks, "Did you know that was going to happen?"

Shandor says, 'I doubt it...'

Lesharn asks, 'What’s going on?'

Shandor says, 'I don't know!'

[Narrator] Before Faelnon can reply the twin-door begins glowing brightly before it clicks loudly, the doors rocket open wide, and with no side-walls in sight, the doors slam into the wall one hundred and eighty-degrees from their starting point. The noise resonates far into the darkness.

Faelnon sighs, 'I guess being covert is out of the question… Might as well throw a bit of light on the situation.'

Rue laughs. "Of course he did! He just wanted it to be a surprise."

Shandor nods and yells a spell, a giant orb of light appears and begins to spread out, lighting up most of the surrounding area.

Echnaton moves close to the wall

Faelnon shouts, 'Okay, start the plan!'

[Narrator] Olaf the Troll bellows as loudly as he can, 'Trolls to dat side!' While waving his club in the correct direction. Mugh shrugs and follows the Trolls. Thor and Thinn give up a war cry, 'Dwarves! Furward!'

[Narrator] Clarice yells, 'Okay, humans, with me to the eastern side.'

Shandor raises his bow like he has already won the battle, 'Ready arrows, archers, and take positions.'

[Narrator] The Gnome-group leader Tribeltrie gives up as loud a shout as he can, 'Mages, prepare your best spells!'

Faelnon turns to the Healers and Priests, 'Stay here and help who you can.'

Rue draws her long sword and stands at the ready.

Faelnon spins on his boot and takes off past the forming-line of archers and stops in line with Thor and Thinn.

Lesharn mutters something.

Echnaton takes one of the arrows in the mouth and put the other one to the bow

Mihwen looks at all the action

[Narrator] Thor says, 'I dunnae know about ye, Fael, but I would'a liked a wee bit mur fightin', ah think ye just made all this up…'

Faelnon cocks an eyebrow, 'I do wonder where it is…'

[Narrator] Thud.

Faelnon sighs, 'Too soon and speaking.'

[Narrator] Thud.

Faelnon draws his sword and peers about.

[Narrator] An explosion of dust sweeps through the room and nearly blinds the group.

Lesharn says, 'uhm. whatever that is it isn’t raspberry pie'

Faelnon , coughing wildly, rubs his eyes.

Cyria says, "I don't like the sound of that"

[Narrator] After the dust settles large chunks of rubble tumble from the walls and ceiling.

Lesharn tries to clear the dust from his eyes.

Rue jumps back as a large piece of rubble lands where her head would have been.

Faelnon points his sword commandingly, 'That way! Trolls and Humans, stick to your sides, Dwarves follow me. Archers, mages and clerics, follow carefully behind.'

Faelnon sprints forward, the light follows him.

Erasmus begins praying for the protection of those in the front line.

[Narrator] At the far end of the room, which takes several minutes to get to, the entire ceiling has collapsed in rubble. The magic-light had stopped moving a while back,

Cyria charges.

Lesharn finds a position at the back of the healer group.

Echnaton uses his coat to clear the eyes, the tears do the rest

Faelnon says, 'Hey, Shandor didn't move the light here, but it is brighter…'

Faelnon looks up and his jaw falls, 'Oh dear Spirits, no, we are too late.'

Lesharn puts away his instruments.

[Narrator] Above them natural sunlight is pouring through, a gigantic hole was the means of the Evil's escape. Screams echo down to the group.

Shandor states rather obviously, 'That forest was created for a reason. It delayed us too long to stop the creature from escaping.'

Rue gasps and steps back warily.

Faelnon nods slowly and looks towards the hole.

Lesharn shudders.

Shandor looks up, 'I'm assuming you want to get up there.'

Echnaton asks "out again or up here?"

Faelnon nods.

Rue looks around cautiously before sheathing her sword. She shakes her head and stares at the ground.

Shandor nods and begins to chant, waving his arms, he stops and asks the other mages to help, they do it and the group are lifted into the air and brought up through the hole and are placed on the cobbled streets outside.

Shandor asks, 'Now what?'

Lesharn says, 'that was amazing, whatever it was ya did'

[Narrator] Faelnon's answer is interrupted as a huge shadow comes over the group, accompanied by an ear-splitting roar. The group look up to see

[Narrator] A giant beast has blocked out the midday sky and sun above them. Its body is covered in scales, two fore legs are dangling down, each claw has three, large, black blades, each bigger than a house. The two rear legs are only slightly longer than the fore legs and are of similar design. Its tail is as long as its body and is ridged. The scales on the back, head, tail and legs are all a very dark green.

[Narrator] An oval patch at the beasts stomach is a pale-yellow. It has two sharp ears. Its amber eyes are of considerable size, each eye has a black streak down the centre that served as a pupil. Its nose is flaring angrily and it opens its immense jaw revealing rows of jagged white teeth.

[Narrator] It was quite clearly what was known as a Dragon. But of an extraordinary size.

[Narrator] Its wings' size looks as if they could suffocate the entire group if they landed over them, the effects of the flapping wings were already being felt.

[Narrator] It sweeps down from the sky and lands in amongst several houses and a marketplace, annihilating them with a deafening sound.

Rue looks at the beast. "Is that the Evil?"

Lesharn gulps at loss of words.

[Narrator] Before the group can move the Dragon surges forward, waves of flame engulf most of the human Fighters and the monks. Clarice suffers severe burns to her face, neck, chest and arms.

Kalypse looks amazed at the enormous animal

Faelnon hollers over the sounds, 'Run! Take cover behind anything!'

Echnaton asks towards Shandor "aim for the eyes?"

Lesharn runs and stumbles, then runs again.

Mihwen is glad she's back with the healers

Shandor hollers at Echanton, 'Do what Faelnon said RUN!'

Kalypse whispers to Mihwen 'There is going to be a great need of healing, get prepared'

Tengu runs to the nearest building, grabbing a spear from the dead warrior.

Rue dives behind a tree, then, shaking her head and remembering the fact that trees are -flammable-, she leaps up and continues to run.

Echnaton runs and yells over all the noise "doing..."

Mihwen runs after Lesharn

Lesharn pulls Kalypse and Mihwen by the arms and starts running for a house.

Tengu hides behind the corner and flips the spear, checking its balance.

Shandor nods and sprints towards a narrow street, while bringing whoever he can find with him.

Raiyne dashes from the town with a gasp, seeing some familiar faces.

Faelnon ducks forward and dives through a shop window as the very tip of the dragon's tail flicks towards the shop, taking out most of the side wall of that shop.

Lesharn pants and says, 'D-d--did you see the size of that?'

Erasmus - stunned - ends up being swept away along with Shandor.

[Narrator] The Dragon lazily leans against a large tower, it snaps and plummets to the ground, crushing several innocents. It begins to move through the city, destroying buildings clumsily. Its tail flicks itself subconsciously and smashes through the roof of the City Council building, destroying two other walls.

Tengu presses the spearhead to the ground with his leg and snaps it off.

Mihwen nods looking kind of scared

Raiyne continues to run, and shouts "What was THAT?" to the nearest person.

[Narrator] It arrives at another marketplace and scoops up the fruit and vegetable stalls it its jaw. It goes down from its two hind legs onto all fours, crushing several shops.

Kalypse nods at Lesharn

Rue looks over her shoulder at Raiyne. "That's what we like to call a big dragon."

Faelnon looks up from the wreckage of the shop.

Faelnon mutters, 'I'm alive, that's good, I think.'

Kalypse smiles shaking and jokes 'Would make a wonderful pet..'

Tengu says, "...and it's hungry, I suppose."

Lesharn says, 'how do we fight this evil? we are spread throughout the city..'

Tengu performs a few moves with the shaft, holding it like staff.

[Narrator] Foilae stands up from where he was, on the edge of the marketplace the Dragon was destroying, 'Hey! How dare you?! That was my shop you growth-potion-gulping, green-scaled lizard!'

[Narrator] The Dragon, not totally hearing Foilae, whips his tail around, knocking the houses over and sending them to their foundations.

[Narrator] The Dragon, now bored from this, makes towards the edge of the city, leaving sticks and clumps of rocks and rubbles in its wake.

Faelnon hollers, 'We can't let it escape!'

Raiyne stops running. "What are we going to do about it? It's not something you can really....kill quickly you know."

Lesharn asks Mihwen and Kalypse, 'what do we do?'

Shandor jumps out from his hiding spot, 'Oh really? Wouldn't have guessed.' Before beginning a spell that seems to have been well rehearsed.

Mihwen shakes her head 'I got no idea'

Rue looks to Lesharn and bites her lip. "We chase it if the order calls for it..."

Faelnon shouts, 'I do, hang on!'

Faelnon hollers again, this time the voice echoes to everyone in the city, 'Begin the contingency plan.'

Kalypse turns to Lesharn 'I’m a druid and I’m not allowed to use heavy weapons... I don’t know what I can do'

Lesharn nods sadly holding back the tears.

Echnaton says useless to shoot at it." and looks over to Shandor

[Narrator] A row of trees, that were barely upright, fall, surrounding the city as well as the wall. Two more rows of trees fall and are hauled up against the wall by hundreds of workers.

[Narrator] A ring of mages on the city-wall begin chanting. A mammoth of a light-bluish barrier rises up from the edges of the trees surrounding the trees and meets at the centre directly above Tildruin completing the barrier and trapping the Dragon.

Raiyne looks around with confusion.

[Narrator] Needless to say the Dragon does try and escape via flying, but is bounced off the barrier and slams into the ground; sending a mini-earthquake through the city.

[Narrator] A mage rushes to Faelnon and reports that the barrier will hold for a few days at least.

Cyria asks, "What should we do now?"

Kalypse adds sadly 'And since I haven’t practiced enough yet I cant control the elements either'

Faelnon nods, 'Good, here's the odd thing with this Dragon, she can't take what she deals, for want of a better phrase. Flame hurts it. Immensely. I would rather raise this city to the ground in a wave of flame than let that beast go free.'

Tengu says, "Another legend comes true..."

[Narrator] That evidently held a message for several torch-holders on the city, who promptly ignite the trees.

[Narrator] The Dragon, enraged, rips into a section of the City wall.

[Narrator] Olaf Mushmaker leads his troops against the Dragon, many of whom are torn apart or swallowed whole. The Dwarven line ends up attacking from the side as the Halflings clamber onto its tail and begin climbing forward.

Lesharn covers his ears.

Faelnon 's head is throbbing.

Raiyne looks around before saying. "So now we're trapped with the dragon?

Kalypse smiles weakly 'I could only be a bait... I can only run..'

Faelnon hollers through the same mass-telepathy, 'Fight it back to its prison, I have an idea.'

Shandor hollers, 'All archers! Fire!'

Kalypse looks worried at Mihwen 'Are you all right?"

Erasmus takes out his pipe out of habit and begins smoking it in a daze of helplessness.

Mihwen nods

[Narrator] The Dragon seems knocked off-guard by this sudden attack and begins back-trailing.

Echnaton shoots at the gigantic body, missing it would be rather difficult

Lesharn chuckles knowingly at Erasmus.

Varadrion looks at the creature in wonder, and then looks for someone he can help, knowing attacking it with his sword would be pointless

Faelnon grabs Shandor and drags him off to help him with his new idea, shouting to the others, 'Continue fighting!'

Echnaton rushes through some of the houses in search for oil or other flammable stuff

Tengu leaps and rolls, evading beast's tail.

Cyria sprints to the rear or the dragon and starts striking the its leg

Varadrion draws his sword and joins Cyria

[Narrator] Thor slams his axe into one of the Dragon's feet, but it bounces off.

Kalypse has part of her feeling sorry for the dragon

Mihwen looks at Lesharn and Kalypse 'what shall we do?'

[Narrator] Thor and Thinn, noting Faelnon and Shandor's absence, 'Okay, everyone! Rally together!'

Lesharn shrugs helplessly.

Erasmus regains himself and begins filling the dragon's former 'lair' with every flammable thing available.

Echnaton finds an amphora with oil, some rags quickly make a few flame-arrows

Tengu eyes the Dragon, then looks at his own Dragon-shaped tattoos.

Thinn begins assembling the troops in front of the Dragon.

Kalypse says 'I wonder what happens in that dragon's mind'

Echnaton shoots two of them to the drag, but she not even notices the tiny pinpricks

Varadrion runs to join the assembling troops

Thinn continues hollering, 'Would all of you people who actually care about saving the world please assemble here. Now!'

Rue puts away her long sword and draws a bow. "I don't think cutting her feet would do much good."

Cyria rushes over to Thinn

Tengu realises he is of little use in the middle of tight formation and takes the place on the flank.

Echnaton rushes over to Thinn, carrying the amphora with him

Thinn raises his axe into the air, 'Charge!' He dashes forward, yelling insults.

Erasmus is oblivious to Thinn and the formation, continuing to fill the pit with wood and such.

Rue stands behind Thinn.

Varadrion follows Thinn closely and charges the dragon

Cyria sprints forward toward the Dragon

Kalypse thinks to herself that she cant do anything right now and tries to talk to Mihwen and Lesharn.. 'I thought dragons are usually peaceful creatures.. why should that one represent all evil?'

Mihwen looks at Kalypse 'you seem to know much more about dragons then I do!'

[Narrator] Again the Dragon is bewildered and taken off guard from this assault.

Raiyne watches as the people rush past her and turns to watch the combat, idly wishing she could do something.

[Narrator] Thor and Thinn give a mighty cry they stab and strike, unfortunately the blades do not slice through the scales, they do hurt the Dragon however and it takes one step too far back.

[Narrator] With a massive creak and groan a section of ground next to the hole collapses. The Dragon disappears, its wings smashing into some of the Dwarves, her jaw slams off the ground and disappears below.

Rue rushes forward, firing an arrow at its head.

[Narrator] It can be heard screaming and whining. A path in the group is cleared quickly as Faelnon and Shandor reappear, followed by capacious vats of boiling oil. Many large chunks of trees are being brought through.

[Narrator] The Dragon tries to get up again as the vats of boiling, skin-flaying oil are poured into the hole. Blood-curdling screeches come from the hole and deafens the people around. The tree-chunks and thrown in next. Following that is several vats of regular temperature oil.

[Narrator] Meanwhile, the tunnels into the labyrinth beneath are flooded with oil. Archers are equipped with arrows ready to be lit on fire as those without bows are given un-lit torches.

[Narrator] The mages and Shandor ignite the arrows and torches at once with a quick spell.

Varadrion walks away from the hole, knowing what will happen

Faelnon hollers, 'Tip them in and light the place up!' As he flings the first torch into the hole.

Raiyne looks helplessly at the healers. "Can't we do something?"

Erasmus dives away from the pit.

Echnaton lets the amphora simply drop down the hole and retreats

Cyria throws her torch into the pit

Varadrion joins the healers and says to Raiyne "looks like we don't need to do any more"

Raiyne looks at the ground with a sigh.

[Narrator] As the others follow the room below is lit up with blinding light. Terrifying screaming and screeching can be heard before it goes silent.

Faelnon listens to the silence for a moment before waving his arms up in the air in triumph, 'We did it! We beat the beast! And look at us, all together, as one. Suffered as one, battled as one, lost as one, and won as one body. We have united the races for the first time in millennia.'

[Narrator] Suddenly, a giant claw slams through the hole, slicing Tribeltrie the Gnome, in two and hitting Shandor in the leg.

Faelnon sighs, 'Or maybe not.'

[Narrator] The Dragon reappears, clambering up, its other fore-leg has been burnt and destroyed, one wing is still on fire and the other has been destroyed. The tail twitches in pain.

Raiyne 's eyes widen and she shrieks as the dragon rises from the hole.

[Narrator] But it is too late for the Dragon, it screeches a final time and stands tall on its hind legs. It begins to fall.

Varadrion draws his sword

Faelnon grabs Shandor's wounded form, 'Take cover!'

[Narrator] The Dragon smashes into the ground, which promptly disappears, a wide, long strip on either side of the Dragon follows the Dragon, buildings, people, everything is turned to rubble, burying the Dragon. Most of the Dwarves disappear, including Thinn. Several mages, healers, priests, monks (what remained after their initial burning) and Halflings disappear too.

Echnaton goes down on his knees, for a save aim and shoots an arrow at the dragons eye

Raiyne stands staring at the dragon in awe.

[Narrator] Waves upon waves acrid smoke and dust flood into the sky, but are bounced back by the barrier, meanwhile the trees surrounding the walls of Tildruin continue to burn brightly, blackening the stones of the walls.

Shandor is knocked away and no doubt into the rubble by the Dragon's final collapse.

Raiyne is knocked to the ground by the shockwave.

Faelnon wheezes, trying to take command of a hectic situation, 'We need to get that fire out, and take care of the wounded, and make sure that damnable creature is dead.'

Faelnon swipes the blood and sweat from his brow.

Tengu struggles to retain balance as earth rumbles beneath his feet, but fails.

Varadrion is knocked over by the rumbling

Rue stands, bleeding profusely from the head.

Faelnon looks around and states sadly, 'We need to find out who has been killed and let their families know.'

Cyria rushes over to Rue

Erasmus begins gathering wounded in a nearby courtyard.

Rue spits blood and curses under her breath, wobbling as she fights to keep her ground.

Echnaton stays down on his knees motionless until the shockwaves run out of power

Varadrion says to Faelnon "That is going to take us a long time it seems"

Faelnon begins writing down the dead on a piece of parchment, 'Tribeltrie… torn in two, Olaf Mushmaker, slain while in a forward charge against the beast. Clarice, has died from burns endured from battle.' The list goes on for about a minute, listing various dead within the groups.

Mihwen runs up to Rue and grabs her.

Faelnon looks down into the 'Pit of Evil' as it had just been dubbed by a disgruntled dwarf.

Mihwen runs up to Rue, grabs her and lay her on the ground

Faelnon looks around, 'Where is Shandor?'

Rue shakes her head and stands up. "I'll live." she protests stubbornly.

Rue sighs. "it's just a....a scrape."

Cyria asks Mihwen, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

[Narrator] Ariea looks around, but doesn't see her husband anywhere, a stream of tears begins flowing down her cheek.

Faelnon carefully climbs his way down into the Pit of Evil, Thor is ripping through the rubble with his bare hands in search of Thinn.

Varadrion goes off to look for wounded that are still alive

Rue walks to the rubble and gets down on her knees, digging through the rubble with stained hands.

Faelnon finds a boot sticking up from the rubble.

Tengu manages to get out from beneath the rubble he was nearly buried under.

Faelnon pulls on the boot, it slides out, with no body attached.

Kalypse helps finding the wounded and healing them

Raiyne pushes a rock off of her and sits up with a wheeze.

Faelnon calls out, 'Shandor? If you aren't dead, please reply.'

Echnaton comes up to his feet and starts looking for his fellows

Varadrion hops down into the pit and helps Faelnon search the rubble

Erasmus after healing wounded soldiers for some time, only now notices the large wooden shards driven into his own stomach.

Tengu looks around, leaning on the shaft and limping on his right leg.

Faelnon hears a low murmur from under some rubble

Cyria slowly walks over to the pit and removes pieces of rubble

Faelnon begins tearing through the rubble, the debris he throws is falling dangerously close to some of the others.

Mihwen walks around checking the wounded

Faelnon uncovers a torn section of black cloak.

Faelnon continues picking through the rubble and uncovers the head and chest of Shandor.

Rue dodges the rock that was thrown towards her.

Faelnon kneels down beside him, 'Are you... alive?'

Rue gasps and her eyes widen.

Echnaton sees Faelnon digging and rushes over to assist

Mihwen walk pass Tengu 'are you wounded?'

Shandor groans and opens his eyes slowly, 'I wish I wasn't.'

Varadrion moves over to Faelnon and kneels beside him

Faelnon smiles, 'Very cheerful, but you would have left Ariea all alone.'

Shandor looks up, 'Ariea, she is okay?'

Kalypse looks over Faelnon's shoulder 'yes, she is fine'

Faelnon nods, 'She is fine, it takes more than a dragon to kill her.'

Rue stands and walks with a slight limp over to Faelnon and Shandor. "Is he alive?"

Mihwen sits down beside Tengu and sees that his leg is broken

Faelnon nods to Rue.

Rue sighs with relief and leans backwards dizzily.

Rue places a hand to her bleeding head and smiles.

Mihwen says ‘lay still and take it easy.’

Faelnon turns to Rue, 'Here, you need help, let me look at that wound.'

Rue shakes her head. "Take care of him.

Rue points to Shandor.

Tengu follows Mihwen request automatically, watching death and destruction around.

Erasmus leans against a tree, pale from blood loss, and fumbles around for his pipe.

Cyria runs over to Faelnon

Echnaton asks Shandor "shall we bring you to a healer or to Ariea first?"

Mihwen place Tengu broken leg in the right position with a big crack sound

Shandor says, 'Actually, un-burying me might be a nicer gesture.'

Varadrion walks to the edge of the pit and climbs out, looking around at the destruction and death around

Rue smirks and begins removing rubble from around Shandor.

Echnaton assists Rue

Faelnon removes some of the rubble from Shandor, after about two handfuls he turns to Rue, 'Okay, he's fine, now, you need help.'

Shandor looks at Faelnon, 'Hey! Not so-alright here.'

Rue opens her mouth but sighs dejectedly. "It's not that bad." she protests obliviously.

Faelnon takes a bandage from a small pouch of healing utensils and says, 'Hold still Rue...'

Mihwen looks at Tengu 'now you just lay here till someone comes by and stabilize the leg for you. Got more serious wounded people who need help'

Faelnon wraps Rue's wound up and sprinkles a green powder on the bandage, 'That should hold it and keep it clean.'

Cyria goes down to Shandor and helps him sit up

Rue nods and smiles. "Thank you."

Erasmus stumbles over to the pit in determination and places his hands over Rue's bandaged wounds.

Tengu nods to Mihwen.

Varadrion goes off into the rubble to look for people that are wounded

Erasmus begins praying for healing.

Shandor sighs, 'Thanks for your help...' He chants something and removes the rubble from his legs.

Shandor stands up shakily.

Rue stands and looks around. "There's still so many people who are missing." she sighs.

Faelnon looks at Shandor, 'You could have done that from the beginning...'

Varadrion carries a wounded man to the edge of the pit and sets him down

Shandor says, 'I'm going off to find Ariea- whaaa!' He is surprised as Ariea appears behind him and hugs him.

[Narrator] Ariea grins, 'You're alive! You're alive...!? You scared me to death, pretending to be dead! How dare you?'

Cyria turns from the group and walks over to a semi-destroyed building, leaning on it

Shandor sighs, 'Do you think that the Dragon could come back and kill me please?'

Rue crosses her arms and smiles at the happy couple.

Kalypse smiles happily at both of them

Echnaton leaves Shandor with Faelnon and starts to care for the plenty others who need assistance

Faelnon grins at the two before moving off to help someone else.

Echnaton shakes his head about them both, smiling.

Tengu finally turns his attention to his leg.

Mihwen sits down for some rest

[Narrator] Thor comes smiling towards Shandor and Ariea, having found Thinn, bruised and beaten.

Kalypse practices her healing skills while wondering through the wounded

Rue smiles. "So Tildruin's evil has been defeated?"

Faelnon finds a small girl who had been caught when the dragon fell, she luckily only had a light cut on her arm.

Cyria says to herself, "Where do I go from here..."

Faelnon nods at Rue, 'Yes, I think so.'

Shandor looks around the place, 'I think I'm going to revise setting up a shop here..'

Rue laughs at Shandor. "I don't think that there will be any shops around here. Not for a while."

Shandor says, 'If I set up shop first, much more customers, so much more money! I've got to go find a good place to build it.'

Faelnon says, 'I think we should get out of this pit of rubble...'

Kalypse raises an eyebrow at Shandor 'you can't be fixed..'

Mihwen shakes her head

Erasmus shivers and smiles with blue lips, deeply gratified that good has triumphed.

Shandor says, 'And never forget it Kalypse.'

Echnaton says "we should get this rubble out, but that takes a while, I guess."

Kalypse smiles 'Believe me, I won't.’

Tengu looks at his leg from several directions, calmly grabbed nearby piece of wood and banded it tightly to fix his leg.

Faelnon climbs out of the rubble pit and looks around, 'Okay, I think the city library was still in one piece when I passed it last, lets get all of the wounded in there.'

Shandor nods to Faelnon's order.

Rue nods and lends a hand to an aging man who limps into the library with an arm around her shoulders.

Faelnon spots a lost and bewildered couple with minor wounds, he leads them to the library.

Erasmus looks at himself, and deciding that he qualifies as wounded, escorts himself to the library.

Shandor begins to gather together a group of wounded and leads them to the library.

[Narrator] The library (apart from being full of book cases and books) has several families who have lost their homes and have gathered here. Most of the bookcases have been moved in order to provide more space.

Rue goes back outside and continues to help the other wounded people inside.

Faelnon drags a few desks out, 'These will do for operating.'

Rue sighs after leading a few more people inside and takes a seat on the steps.

Faelnon says, 'Could all the healers please assemble here. The wounded are flooding in.'

Cyria goes into the library

Erasmus goes from one injured person to another, praying for each and causing significant improvement among them.

Echnaton organises that the collapsed houses get searched for survivors, that keeps him busy for some time

Faelnon says, 'Clear an area for a fire, these people need warmth.'

Faelnon helps a few of the wounded to a seat.

Faelnon calls, 'Could *somebody* do anything useful? Please, gather some food for these people.’

Faelnon spots Tengu hobbling around with a broken leg, 'Tengu, get in here and sit down and don't move.'

Mihwen throws a irritated glance at Faelnon ash she cleans her hands from all blood

Cyria moves fallen books out of the way for the fire Faelnon requested

Faelnon notices the stare from Mihwen, 'I'm talking about those who aren't helping the people or doing anything of use...'

Cyria says, "There, the area is clear for your fire Faelnon"

[Narrator] Thor and Thinn return, from having raided a restaurant or some such, Thor smiles, 'Ah come bearing all types of meat, piping hot chicken, lovely bit o' boar, dig in.'

Echnaton shows up at Faelnon "there is a food-depot close to the library. We should set up a kitchen there and bring only the food for the wounded here."

Faelnon turns to Cyria, 'Thank you, would you mind gathering some wood for it?'

Cyria starts to rip apart a broken bookshelf for wood

[Narrator] Thor beams a grin at Echnaton, 'There isn't much food left anymore.'

Erasmus is exhausted from his holy exercise and sits for a moment to recover.

Faelnon looks about for Kalypse to help some of the wounded, 'Has anyone seen Kalypse?'

Kalypse jumps 'I’m here! Argh, you can't see me anymore..'

Faelnon notices Kalypse, 'Ah, sorry, must have missed you.'

Kalypse asks loudly 'So... who else needs help?'

Echnaton asks "have you brought it here already or is it simply empty?"

Faelnon looks at the moaning masses of wounded, 'I'm going to guess and say those people.'

Faelnon stops what he is doing as the realisation of having won dawns on him, 'We did it.... we did it....'

Kalypse walks around and starts helping a few people laid down on a corner

Cyria puts the wood she gathered down

Erasmus turns to Faelnon, "This Evil has been defeated, but the battle is an ongoing one."

Faelnon turns to the fire wood before asking, ' Erasmus, can you get this fire going? Hopefully without setting fire to the book cases.....'

Kalypse jumps back as one of her patients screams out loud... 'sorry!!'

Shandor and Ariea try their best to spread out the food to the patients

Erasmus ignites the flame with the lighter he uses for his pipe.

Echnaton assists wherever help is needed

Faelnon waves away Shandor as he tries to offer him some food.

Mihwen sits down for some rest

Faelnon rubs his hands for a brief moment near the fire before going back to the wounded.

Echnaton passes over some food and water to Mihwen "here, this will still be a long day"

Kalypse sits on a corner and starts playing her bamboo flute.. 'we need some cheer up'

Faelnon sighs finishing up helping the wounded.

Faelnon slumps next to the fire.

Faelnon turns to the others, 'We survived..'

Faelnon says, 'So, has any of your plans changed?'

Kalypse smiles and gets back to playing her flute

Erasmus smiles faintly, "I'm still thinking about that songbird -- how nice that would be..."

Mihwen says 'I'll try to get the scrolls we found translated'

Faelnon nods.

Shandor , sitting next to the others, says, 'Not to be gruesome, but I intend to dig that Dragon up and selling its scales and meat.'

Cyria speaks up, "My i ask something?"

Kalypse stops playing and frowns at Shandor

Faelnon nods at Cyria.

Mihwen smiles at Shandor 'it's already cooked'

Erasmus looks over at Cyria.

Kalypse shouts 'dragons are not supposed to act that evil!'

Echnaton smiles sadly "I wish I could travel somewhere and build up something...."

Cyria asks, "Where do we go from here, now that the evil is gone and your quest is over?"

Echnaton turns over to Shandor "but dragon scales also sound fine, I you might need a helping hand"

Faelnon says, 'I suppose we just go our different ways. I would like to keep track of each other, write letters and such, but I suppose, our group is over.'

Faelnon turns to Kalypse, 'That Dragon was trapped down there for a reason, a good reason I would guess.'

Erasmus says, "You have all been travelling together for some time now I take it."

Kalypse turns her back and keeps on playing..

Faelnon sighs, 'I wonder who made the prison.'

Kalypse says 'A very mean person, Id say'

Cyria says, "I believe there are many questions we will never know about the dragon"

Kalypse adds 'And very powerful..'

Faelnon turns to Erasmus, 'We have been travelling for, I would say, nearly a year, most of which Shandor was leading. My old group, Shandor, Ariea, Thor, Thinn, myself and the others have been roaming about for seventy five years, at least.'

Tengu hobbles closer to the group and takes a seat.

Erasmus states in awe, "Wow, and I thought one day with you all would be more than most could handle."

Faelnon yawns, 'It is only afternoon and already I am more tired than I have been since I was a child.'

Erasmus continues, "I have certainly reached my limits."

Faelnon says, 'You are free to leave...'

Cyria smiles

Erasmus says, "Would be a hard thing to do after such an ordeal. I passed my home on the way here to find it razed."

Shandor says, 'And my future shop location lies in flaming ruins...'

Kalypse stands up and makes a decision 'That's it, I am going to learn how to be a better druid, and I am going to do it now! You all take care... if you ever need me just send me a bird'

Faelnon turns to Kalypse, 'You leave us already?'

Erasmus says, "A great amount of rebuilding is needed here. Hopefully things will go better for Tildruin now that its foundation is no longer literally Evil.’

Kalypse says 'I don't see what else I can do... do you?'

Faelnon turns to Erasmus, 'The giant died here, the dragon was trapped and died here, I'd say Tildruin is haunted by Evil.'

Echnaton says "staying here for a while might not be the worst thing. They can need every hand here."

Tengu hesitates a bit but asks, "There are many orphaned children here... What if I'll take some to the monastery? The Order would probably adopt them, it would be harsh, but they'll survive at least."

Shandor grins, 'Ah, I'll have fun here...'

Faelnon turns to Kalypse, 'You won't even stay and chat for a while? We have not known you long.'

Cyria smiles and says, "I will be sure to send you that bird Kalypse"

Echnaton replies to Faelnon thoughtfully "maybe the dragons prison had a mighty guardian..."

Kalypse thinks for a moment.. 'hmm, perhaps I could..'

Faelnon offers Kalypse an apple, 'Here, sit down next to the fire and eat something, you must be hungry.'

Mihwen wakes up from her slumber

Kalypse thanks Faelnon 'yes, I haven't eaten much but cherries...'

Erasmus says quietly, "I wonder if the many races of the world will get along better after this collective victory."

Faelnon says, over hearing, 'I hope so, we did bring them all together.'

Cyria says, "It will be a grand land for a while, until new generations are born"

Faelnon nods sadly.

Mihwen says 'well the city is ready for a new start'

Faelnon nods.

Faelnon states, 'And maybe they won't rebuild it separating the races, but bringing them together.'

Kalypse says 'This is just so great... younger generations should just remember this and continue with their lives peacefully... but unfortunately there will always be the ones who would try and ruin everything'

Faelnon nods, 'Sadly that is true Kalypse.'

Cyria says, "I will never forget any of this

Kalypse says 'You are all good friends, I just wish I could have done more..'

Faelnon says, 'Nor will I, sadly there will be those who don't believe it, those that think that this was just a trick, and those who will forget.'

Faelnon says, 'You did plenty Kalypse, have you not just saved many lives?'

Echnaton says "the sad thing is that the real memory only lasts one generation. For the children, this happenings will only be fairytales"

Kalypse nods thoughtfully

Mihwen says 'Lesharn will probably write about our journey'

Erasmus considering this discussion, picks up a blank book and quill and begins inscribing his own account of the historic event.

Faelnon nods, 'I hope he describes it correctly.'

Faelnon says, 'It is only because fools are allowed to lead the race that the battles begin. If the world were lead by people like Olaf, who gave his life while helping the halfling side.'

Cyria says, "There needs to be more like him"

Faelnon nods, 'Indeed.'

Erasmus looks up and says, "Then again, by constantly competing with each other, the many races were stronger against this Foe. Perhaps this is the natural way of this world."

Erasmus continues, "However disturbing."

Faelnon says, 'If only everyone could give up their prejudices as easily as we all did. But I remember that even some of us took an instant disliking to Mugh merely because he is an orc.'

Kalypse says 'the natural way means balance... that’s all that happened.. construction side of things.. a group working together will always do more.. hopefully for the good of all'

Faelnon nods.

Faelnon puts his hands near the fire.

Tengu looks at Kalypse, "Mayhaps there was even a place for Dragon in Nature's scheme?"

Kalypse looks surprised at Tengu 'dragons ARE part of nature... and most of them are a good part of it!'

Mihwen nods at Lesharn as he come to the fire

Faelnon says, 'I believe that she was formed as a source of Evil, one they tried to hide.'

Erasmus asks, "So has the evil itself been obliterated in her death?"

Erasmus continues, "...Perhaps it will find another vessel."

Kalypse thinks 'I doubt.. evil doesn’t end like that..'

Faelnon says, 'Not evil, that will always remain, but I do believe that we have defeated much Evil.'

Tengu replies, "I was considering them a legend until today..."

Erasmus turns to Tengu, "As I'm sure many will consider them to be not long from now."

Faelnon nods.

Faelnon says, 'Apparently, when they are born it is a magnificent sight.'

Kalypse says 'I guess people are just afraid of the unknown... and things that they cannot control.. so once they find something above their knowledge and understanding they fear it and take it as enemy..'

Erasmus suddenly looks concerned and says, "Perhaps that pit should be searched carefully once more."

Faelnon says, 'Elves long thought that was the main problem of the 'Human Condition'.'

Erasmus says, "Eggs would be a bad thing to find."

Faelnon turns to Erasmus, 'Dragons do not lay eggs traditionally, I believe.'

Erasmus looks relieved, "Ah, goes to show what I know about these fairy-tale creatures."

Faelnon says, 'Nor are they born, it is rumoured that nature comes together and creates the shape of the creature before a soul is placed in it.'

Faelnon says, 'Of course, it could all be hearsay.'

Erasmus says, "A strange choice of nature to put such a soul in this last one."

Kalypse says 'All I know is that they live, and by doing so should be respected, not feared.'

Faelnon says, 'That is why I believe that it could have been created unnaturally, and that includes everything about it.'

Erasmus continues, "Perhaps, but as it has been mentioned, good has come from this Evil."

Kalypse nods

Erasmus says, "Even if only for a moment, the races were united."

Faelnon says, 'I wonder what kind of language those creatures have.'

Echnaton continues "believe it or not I regret that we had to kill this being. There was no other way, but nevertheless..."

Cyria says, "I am almost sure that any of the great races will ever know what language it knows"

Faelnon nods, 'Perhaps whenever any of us next encounter a Nanjarii we can quiz them about this.'

Faelnon takes a bite out of a piece of bread.

Erasmus stands with great difficulty and says, "It has truly been life-changing to fight by your sides."

Erasmus continues, "But I must be off to find a songbird."

Erasmus smiles, "If I don't act now I'll just dream about it for the rest of my life."

Faelnon nods, 'Good bye Erasmus.'

Echnaton says "good luck for all of you."

Erasmus waves and limps out of the building.

Cyria says, "I wish you good fortune"

Kalypse says 'good luck everyone

Faelnon yawns, 'I think I will go to sleep now. Too much for one day, and I'm getting older...'

Shandor grins at Faelnon, 'Yes, I see some grey hair coming through...'

Faelnon frantically swipes at his head, 'Where?'

Cyria says, "So, will you two be staying the night?"

Shandor grins, 'You are too easy...'

Faelnon says, 'Cyria, I could just fall asleep right here...'

[Narrator] Thor comes barging in, 'No need! Great news! The Flight of the Dragon inn survived, he has given us free rooms, for both saving the city and giving his inn name new meaning.'

Cyria says, "Shall we go now?"

Faelnon nods, 'Lets.'

Echnaton smiles

Faelnon gets to his feet and yawns again.

Faelnon leaves the library and sets off towards the inn.

Cyria follows Faelnon

Echnaton says ‘I will stay this night, and tomorrow we shall see..."

[Narrator] The windows of the inn have been shattered and the door has been blown off its hinges, but otherwise it seems intact.

Faelnon steps over the ruins of the door and looks around the inn.

Cyria says, "Wow, I am surprised it is still together for the most part"

Faelnon nods, 'Good thing though...'

Shandor goes over to the barkeep, 'Get me the biggest dwarven ale in existence, and whatever those guys want.'

Erasmus smiles as he sees the group enter the building from his own room's broken window, then collapses onto his bed.

Faelnon stumbles towards his room, it appears intact, so he stumbles back to the bar.

Cyria says, "I will just have some wine

Faelnon grabs a drink and raises it into the air, 'To our quest, and our victory!'

Cyria holds her glass into the air

Shandor toasts before wolfing down half of his ale.

Echnaton takes one of the served dwarven ale's and joins the toast

Faelnon says, 'I'm ready to hit the bed.'

Echnaton falls asleep sitting upright at the table

Cyria says, "Good night"

Faelnon turns to the bar, 'Good night all.'

Faelnon leaves and enters his room.

Cyria smiles

Shandor and Ariea go and sit in the corner.

Cyria looks over at the couple

Shandor and Ariea head off to their room, 'Good night all.'

Cyria says, "Good night you two"
