The 'Quest' III
Session VI - It's All So Quiet
Organiser's Comment
Yay. Plenty of fun was had (just ask Ashli). Sorry for the delay in the session, but I think it was worth the wait.
Er, not much else really, I highly recommend the logs, they aren't extremely long and are very fun towards the end.
Plot Summary
The group have arrived in Tildruin. They abandon the 'train with a person who looks after wagons. They make their way to Shandor's shop, which has been run by a plucky human called Sarah. The group chat for a few minutes before Shandor reveals an elaborate and well thought out plan of action; of course, Rue is the vocal member of the group who believes that could have been no way Shandor could have actually concocted a plan like this. They intend to break into the palace of Tildruin, stealthily sneak about and get to Robert West's (new elected ruler of Tildruin) office to steal documents from the safe. Tonight, there is a dinner party in a different section of the palace which West will be attending.
The group make there way at night and manage to get a grappling hook through an open window. They climb up and move through the corridors via the rafters. They spot two guards standing outside a door. Rue accidentally causes the wooden rafters to complain by creaking. The guards peer at the darkness. The group jump down and knock out the two, their plan of stealth is neatly ruined. There is a voice from inside, it is West's. He emerges from the room where he is quickly knocked out. Shandor begins to drag him along insisting that he could be useful. They find West's office and break in.
Meanwhile, the guests are apparently, 'getting restless'. Inside the office, the group can't work out how to open the safe. Ariea suggests simply hacking at it until it falls out. She is shocked that she sounds like Thor, but still thinks it is the best plan. A guard a patrol knocks at the door, and Shandor attempts to imitate West. The guard seems to buy it, until the real West groans on the ground. More guards have arrived and begin pounding on the door. A cabinet is propped against the double-door. Rue has a plan that seems more fitting for Shandor to suggest. Rue pretends that West has "female company" in the room, the guard's buy this story for a few moments.
West, however, comes to and hollers for the guards. The door begins to splinter and fracture as the guards attack it. The safe is freed and Tengu is forced to take it as they begin dashing out of the window.
They climb down a trellis into the courtyard below and dash across through a door. Most guards pursue, but a couple remain behind with West. The group are making their way towards the cellars to escape, but before they can go down, Rue and Shandor are spotted by a guest. She seems quite suspicious of them, when Shandor blurts out that they are the entertainment. Despite the violent glances from Rue, the two are forced on stage as a magic act. Shandor tries something, the torches in the room explode in sparks and a thick smoke begins billowing out. After the spell is complete, he and Rue dash along a table "accidentally" (or not) kicking plates of food off the table and hitting the guests with them.
Meanwhile, Tengu, Cyria, Faelnon and Ariea have found the exit corridor via the basement and being along there. Back in the dining hall, a waiter emerges from the kitchen with a plate holding a roast boar. Two guards have also gone to this door, as it leads to the way out. Rue sees this and dives at the waiter, knocking him over and into one of the guards and sending the boar into the other guard, knocking him over, too. She and Shandor duck out the door into the entrance hall and out into the fresh air where they sprint towards the shop. Faelnon, Tengu and the others spot them and give chase. They all reach the shop laughing at the escapades (Shandor and Rue seem near death from lack of oxygen in this Editor's opinion.). Sarah comes down and welcomes the 'spies' home, despite Faelnon insisting they are not spies.
They all chat for a few moments before setting down to sleep.
Okay folks, now go read the logs, they are very funny.

<@Narrator> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The 'Quest' III - Finally. Ha ha! If you said 'three' that rhymed! Ah, I'm so wonderful... >>>>>>>>>
<@Narrator> The chaotic noise has returned. The unceasing drone, with the occasional flurry of activity, continued. The noise was Tildruin. Most of the inhabitants had heard of Viirnial now, most of them had to accept it and carry on with their lives. Others were increasingly panicked, the destruction of Borwin, and now Viirnial? They did not see that as a good sign for big cities, like Tildruin.
<@Narrator> The day was reasonably bright, a small blanket of white, fluffy clouds are crossing along the sky slowly.
* Shandor sits up front, Faelnon sits on the roof above him.
* Kalypse yawns
* Faelnon says, 'We should store the 'train at the edge of the city. I would say this thing is rather conspicuous.'
* Rue sits on the roof in the middle of the 'train, looking up at the sky that had been blanketed in clouds for so long.
* Shandor nods, 'I know the guy who runs a place for storing wagons, I'm sure he could stretch to this.'
* Ariea asks, 'Is no-one going to point out how pretty the weather is? I mean, compared with other days...'
* Cyria say with a smile, "Sure is better then blood rain"
* Kalypse nods at Ariea
* Rue laughs. "Acid rain would be better than blood rain."
* Isondil sits quietly in his cabin
* Shandor smiles, 'Indeed, I wouldn't mind a good wine-rain once in a while though.'
* Kalypse rolls her eyes 'We should have normal rain.. no danger.. no drunks'
* Shandor grins.
* Shandor spots the wall of Tildruin breaking through the forest. 'There we go.'
* Rue stands and walks towards the front of the 'train to get a better view of Tilrduin, taking a seat next to Faelnon.
* Isondil moves out of his cabin and onto the roof
<@Narrator> The drivers stop outside the enormous double-oak doors with metal braces. A guardsman approached, 'Hail,' he said, looking at the length of the 'train, 'Peter's is just along the wall.' He stated, doubting that the 'train could get all the way into Tildruin without colliding with a building or two.
* Shandor nods, 'Thanks.' Before directing the drivers along.
<@Narrator> Within sight is a large structure, its side is linked to the city wall, and it stretches out quite far. It is of simple construct, it appears to be one main storage area and a small house or office.
* Faelnon thinks for a moment, 'Peter... is he the same Peter that you and Thor got a lift to Tildruin on a few years back?'
* Rue looks at the huge storage space, wondering if the 'train will b able to fit its hulking self in there.
* Shandor nods, 'Indeed, he's moved up in the world to just storing wagons.'
* Ariea states, 'Just storing them seems rather boring...'
* Shandor jumps off the wagon he was on and nears the door to the office. He gently pushes it open and goes inside. He motions for the others to follow if they want to.
* Rue jumps off and follows Shandor.
<@Narrator> The inside is sparsely decorated, an oak table, two chairs in front of it, one larger, leather, chair behind. On the larger chair was a human, middle aged, the first grey hairs showing through.
* Isondil jumps off the train
* Tengu leans off the window then quickly grabs his belongings and disembarks.
* Shandor says, 'Greetings, Peter.'
* Cyria walks off the train and waits outside of the structure
* Rue nods in Peter's direction as a greeting, staying near the back of the room.
<@Narrator> Peter recognised Shandor, but did not recall seeing him in a long time, 'Shandor, it is good to see you again. Did you bury yourself in your shop again? I haven't seen you in months.'
* Shandor smiles, 'No, I've been out on a trip. Speaking of, do you have room for a rather large wagon train?'
<@Narrator> Peter nods, 'I do indeed.' He adds with a smirk, 'Usual fares for each wagon, of course.'
* Shandor taps his coin pocket, looks at the others before grinning, 'Oh, of course.'
* Rue grimaces.
* Rue looks in her coin purse but all that she finds is a speck of dust.
<@Narrator> Peter says, 'I'll show you where...'
<@Narrator> Peter stands up and goes outside, he moves to a large green-painted door and pulls it open, it leaves a large enough space to get the wagons through comfortably. The storage area inside is empty, except for two wagons that appear to have come from Gullport.
* Shandor follows and waves for the 'train to go in.
* Shandor turns to the group, 'Grab what you need of the 'train, we'll probably be staying at my shop tonight. There's about enough room.'
* Isondil nods and makes his way towards the train
* Rue climbs into her cabin and takes her sword and most of her other belongings,
* Faelnon goes into his cabin and gets a few belongings.
* Faelnon goes outside again.
* Shandor waits outside.
* Rue steps out and stands outside waiting for the others.
* Isondil moves into his cabin and takes his quiver and other belongings
* Isondil makes his way off the train
<@Narrator> Peter shuts up and locks the doors, 'I'll be seeing you soon then?'
* Tengu adjusts his shoulder bag and checks the balance of his staff, "Not much burdened of the property".
* Shandor nods, 'We won't be staying in Tildruin too long.'
<@Narrator> Peter sighs, 'Ah, that's a shame...'
* Shandor nods again.
* Shandor begins back towards the gates.
* Faelnon follows, quarterstaff in hand.
* Rue walks behind the others.
* Ariea follows.
* Isondil follows slowly after the others
* Tengu looks at two other wagons, "Looks like people prefer another transport these days"
* Shandor approaches the gates again, but heads straight through a smaller door designed for people.
* Faelnon follows Shandor and wonders why he would choose to live in this place.
* Isondil follows Faelnon
* Ariea follows, glad to be back to their new home.
* Shandor leads the group through a few narrow alleyways, down a large street and into a marketplace.
* Shandor points to a store, 'That's where we'll be staying for tonight; our store.'
* Faelnon comments, 'Since you've bought it, you haven't done much to it, have you?'
* Rue stifles a laugh at Faelnon's remark.
* Shandor replies, 'Apart from the whole 'it had just been struck by a dragon's tail' issue when I bought it, no.'
* Shandor opens the door to hear a familiar jingle from a small golden bell. He looks about the shop. There is a short human with long chestnut hair at the counter. She looks up at everyone.
<@Narrator> The woman, Sarah, dashes forwards and locks an arm around Ariea and Shandor and hugs them, 'You're back! Where have you been? You've got to tell me all about it!'
* Rue nearly leaps back in shock at the woman's exuberance.
* Shandor smiles, breaking free of her and stepping into the shop.
<@Narrator> Sarah sees Faelnon and hugs him suddenly, nearly knocking him over, 'You must be Faelnon! I've heard a lot about you, but I don't think we've met. I'm Sarah.'
* Isondil looks around the shop mildly interested in an object
* Faelnon replies, slightly winded, 'Nice to meet you.'
<@Narrator> Sarah proceeds to welcome everyone in a similar manner to Faelnon.
* Shandor grins, 'She's a little hug-happy.'
* Cyria asks, "Sarah, what do you do here?"
* Rue blinks.
* Shandor grins, 'Feel free to look around. And pay full price for anything you want.'
<@Narrator> Sarah says, 'Oh, I was running the shop while those two were away. But I normally help out.'
* Shandor asks Sarah, 'Any problems?'
* Isondil say's 'I think I'll look around the marketplace if that's ok'
* Tengu enters the room, accidentally hitting the bell with the staff, making the first ring once more, "Hail, I am Tengu".
* Shandor nods to Isondil.
<@Narrator> Sarah shakes her head, smiling, 'Nope, I've been absolutely fine on my own. You know Mrs. Robin? She came in the other day and ordered a whole host of things, oh and a Trovocian pot, but we didn't have any of those so I sent out for some I hope that's-'
<@Narrator> Sarah smiles at Tengu, 'Nice to meet you. I would hug you, but I've been informed by Shandor that people who get close to you or your staff end up with broken noses.'
* Shandor smiles, trying to politely interrupt her from launching into an hour long story of each and every customer, 'That's fine, I've been meaning to update the stock anyway.'
* Faelnon heads upstairs to where Shandor and Ariea live to raid the kitchen.
* Ariea scoots out to her garden to see how everything is doing.
* Tengu smiles, "Sure he explained it with these exact words".
* Isondil examines a rather oddly shaped dagger on the weapons stall
* Shandor says, 'Take a look about.'
* Cyria goes over to a book shelf and looks about
* Shandor goes to the back of the shop floor where there is a counter. He lifts up a small part of it and goes through into the back area, a store room. He grabs a few chairs that were lining one wall and sets them closer to the group, 'Have a seat if you want.'
* Tengu joins Cyria and starts digging in the bookshelves.
* Faelnon calls from upstairs, 'Would anyone like some tea? I found this great set...'
* Shandor calls up at Faelnon, 'You stay away from them!' Before he dashes up the stairs.
* Rue leans against a wall instead, yawning.
* Isondil hands over ten gold coins to the weaponsmaster and moves back towards Shandor's shop carrying his new dagger
* Shandor comes down with a tray, it holds several cups and a tea pot.
* Faelnon comes down after, rubbing his wrist, 'Why did you wrestle them off me if you were just going to serve them out anyway?'
* Shandor shrugs, 'More fun? Anyway, help yourselves everyone.'
* Rue takes a cup of tea and sips it briefly before setting it down again.
* Isondil places his dagger into his cloak and steps inside the shop
* Tengu nods and takes himself a cup, holding it from below.
* Cyria takes an older looking book on herbs off the shelf and opens the cover
* Faelnon quite deliberately takes a cup and makes a very loud *clink* with it before taking a sip.
* Cyria turns and asks, "How much for this book Shandor?"
* Tengu scans the books, turning the pages with one hand and holding the tea cup in another.
* Isondil takes a cup of tea and moves around the shop examining the books
* Shandor smiles, 'For you Cyria? Full price. I think that one is only five gold coins though.'
* Rue shakes her head. "No discounts for old friends, Shandor?"
* Faelnon moves over to one display, a mace hangs on hooks, its end glows faintly.
* Shandor grins, 'What do you mean 'friend'?'
* Faelnon says, 'I didn't know you dealt in magical weapons Shandor.'
* Shandor turns to Faelnon, 'I dabble here and there...'
* Rue rolls her eyes.
* Faelnon smiles at Shandor, 'If you touch the wrong end of that, bits of you will be here and there.'
* Tengu continues scanning paying the more attention to the book the less sense its title makes.
* Cyria takes out five gold coins and asks, "Where should I place the money Shandor?"
* Shandor holds out a hand.
* Cyria gives Shandor the coins
* Shandor slides the money through a little slit into a metal box beneath the counter.
* Shandor asks, 'Does anyone want anything? There's quite a selection of home-made potions under the counter...'
<@Narrator> Sarah goes over to Faelnon and whispers something.
* Isondil finishes his tea and places his cup on the counter
* Faelnon goes over to a small box in the store room
* Faelnon opens it and begins flipping through some scrolls before waving at Shandor for him to come over.
* Ariea comes in from her garden.
* Shandor nods to Faelnon as they examine the scrolls. He lifts the box up and heads to the shop area where he places the box on the main table, knocking a few magical trinkets out of the way.
* Shandor asks for the group's attention.
* Rue walks over to Shandor curiously.
* Isondil glances over at Shandor
* Tengu just takes the book entitled "On the Nature of Things", but puts it off, turning to Shandor.
* Faelnon begins to explain, 'We have reason to believe, as you no doubt have wondered, that Robert West, the new leader of all Tildruin is not the human he claims to be. We theorise that he is one of the other six dragons in another form.'
* Ariea asks, 'And how do we prove it? Knock on his door and ask nicely?'
* Faelnon says, 'Actually, we are going to break into the palace he resides in. Although, not for the purpose you suggest. We believe that he has documents, or artefacts, that will be of use to us.'
* Shandor takes over, 'Fortunately, tonight is our moment. There is a dinner party tonight, hosted by the 'beloved' Robert West, he will be in attendance all night so most of the palace will be empty. We can also have educated guesses on where the activity will be, including guards, and how to avoid it.'
* Shandor goes behind the counter and comes out with several blue prints, 'We managed to acquire these, seems this palace, surprise surprise, wasn't built that long ago.'
* Shandor points to several areas, 'These corridors lead to the dining hall, the kitchens and the bathrooms - they are to be avoided. The others should have minimal security. However, once we get in, we can't kill anyone. I don't think West will take it kindly if his guests start finding corpses around the place.'
* Shandor switches pieces of paper and points to one room, 'This is West's office, from what we can tell, it has a safe built into the wall, which most likely has any useful information. Unfortunately, the only window faces out into the inner courtyard, so we can't just climb up into it.'
* Shandor points to two corridors coming to a point at the office, 'These two paths are our best bet.'
* Shandor continues, 'We will enter here,' he points to an outer wall, 'There is a window here, it should be no trouble.'
* Shandor states, 'Once inside, there might be a complication or two. While most of the guards will be at the banquet there will no doubt be some on their routine patrols. According to our source they each carry whistles, when blown their noise is very loud, and travels far. So we can't let them sound the whistles.'
* Shandor says, 'Our solution is this: Along every corridor are wooden rafters, we will crawl our way around these, trying to avoid the corridor floor if possible.'
* Shandor says, 'Hopefully, after we get to the office we can make our way to our entrance and get out. If not, there are several other ways-' He points to a cellar and a passage way, 'All of these can lead outside, but are bolted shut, so we can't go in those ways.'
* Faelnon asks, 'Any objections? Questions?'
* Rue raises an eyebrow at Shandor.
* Rue raises her hand. "Um...how did SHANDOR come up with this?"
* Shandor grins.
* Rue walks over to Shandor and place a hand on his forehead. "Do you have a fever?"
* Ariea smiles, 'Sarah has been digging around for a week or two now and got all the info, he just put it together.'
* Shandor grins at Ariea, 'I think "Shandor is just so awesome" was a much better explanation.'
* Rue grins. "That makes much more sense.”
* Shandor knocks the hand away grinning, 'I'm fine!'
* Rue laughs. "If you're sure..."
* Shandor says, 'Any other questions?
* Shandor says, 'Alright, let's get to it. I want minimal equipment with us, some armour and a weapon if needs be the rest we'll leave here.'
<@Narrator> The day passes quickly as the group prepare and all too soon the sun has tucked itself below the horizon. Most of Tildruin is quite quiet, save for the pubs where the citizens laugh and drink merrily.
<@Narrator> On the other side of the city is the palace. A new construct, Robert West thought it important to give out an image of awe when delegations from other areas are visiting. There is a large cobblestone path leading up to the main doors, which have guards outside. Most of the wagons have already arrived and the sweet sound of music comes over the area like a gentle summer's breeze.
<@Narrator> Inside the wealthiest members of the Tildruin community have gathered, chatting, dancing or drinking. The meal is soon to begin. As of yet, Robert West has still made no appearance.
* Shandor looks up the cobblestone path. He pauses a moment before continuing along the edge, stating 'The window should be over here.'
* Rue looks over at Shandor. "How many guards are we likely to encounter?"
* Shandor says, 'I'm not sure, hopefully none... We just need to stay out of sight.'
* Shandor spots the window, 'Okay, everyone ready?'
* Isondil nods
* Shandor swings the rope with the grappling hook and releases it, it shoots through the window, fortunately some god had the kind nature to have the window open when he did this.
* Shandor tests the rope, 'Okay..., here goes.'
* Rue stifles a laugh as she pictures the grappling hook bouncing off of a closed window and onto Shandor's head.
* Shandor begins climbing up the rope as quickly as possible.
* Tengu straps his sleeves to the hands not to hinder movement and waits for Shandor to climb up.
* Shandor climbs through the window and looks about, no-one's there. Good.
* Faelnon motions for the next person to climb up.
* Rue quickly scales the rope.
* Ariea goes up following Rue.
* Isondil looks around hoping no guards will appear
* Rue stands up inside of the room and draws her sword.
* Faelnon climbs up next.
* Isondil follows Faelnon up the rope
* Shandor looks down at the others, 'Come on up.'
* Cyria follows after Isondil
* Rue listens intently for footsteps that aren't those of the group.
* Tengu fixes the staff under the sash behind his back and starts climbing.
<@Narrator> The corridor is elegantly crafted, the floor and walls are made entirely of stone, the walls are lined with lit torches and a large red carpet runs along the centre, with golden patterns running along the sides.
* Shandor pulls up the rope before swinging it up and over a wooden board that runs along in crosses a metre or so below the ceiling.
* Shandor looks up, 'We may need to crouch...'
* Rue runs her eyes along the corridor, quietly examining what the castle has to offer with a sigh.
* Shandor climbs up and clings onto the wood, it creaks uncomfortably, but doesn't collapse.
* Shandor whispers, 'Okay, let's move it.'
* Isondil strains his ears for footsteps
* Shandor shuffles along the wood a bit.
* Ariea climbs up next.
* Cyria climbs up after Ariea
<@Narrator> There is a metallic clang, followed by another. A steady rhythm begins.
* Isondil climbs up after Cyria
* Shandor motions for them all to get up quickly
* Tengu climbs up after Isondil.
* Faelnon climbs up as quickly as possible.
* Faelnon , as the last person up, hauls up the rope.
* Rue stands up straight, her eyes widening, as she stares around the room trying to locate the direction that the clangs are coming from.
* Isondil moves along the wood
* Shandor whispers, 'Stay quiet.'
* Cyria holds her breath waiting for the guards to pass
<@Narrator> A guard, clad in steel armour, marches around the corner and along the corridor. The darkness above hides the group as he goes.
* Shandor begins to crawl along and beckons for the others to follow.
* Tengu freezes.
* Rue nimbly darts along behind Shandor.
* Shandor pauses for a moment and watches the guard go around another corner.
* Shandor says, 'I knew being tall would come back and try and bite me in the leg. It isn't tall enough to bite anywhere else.'
* Shandor continues to crawl along, heading around a bend.
* Tengu moves along with somewhat clumsy, but noiseless moves.
* Shandor asks, half-smiling, 'So, has anyone else broken into a palace before?'
* Rue looks at Shandor. "Well..yes."
* Tengu shakes his head negatively.
* Shandor looks at Rue, not totally surprised, 'So, any hints?'
* Rue nods. "Silence is a good idea." She smirks.
* Shandor grins.
* Shandor continues on in silence
* Rue 's foot catches a loose piece of wood and knocks it to the ground.
* Rue blushes. "That's NOT a good idea."
* Shandor says, 'You think that now?'
* Rue stammers. "Well...I-I-I...Yeah."
* Shandor nods, 'Fair enough. No harm, no foul.'
* Rue laughs at her own stupidity and continues
* Tengu whispers, 'As if we always taken good ideas...'
* Shandor stops suddenly, he points down:
<@Narrator> Two guards stand outside a door.
* Rue stops in her tracks and looks down. Rue looks back up at Shandor with a hint of worry.
* Rue leans over to get a closer look. The extra pressure from her hand results in the wood giving another disgruntled groan.
<@Narrator> The two guards look up, trying to see through the darkness.
* Shandor mutters under his breath, 'Not good.'
* Rue winces.
* Shandor swings his legs down before following and crashing onto one of the guards.
* Cyria jumps down onto a guard
* Rue jumps down and lands in front of the other guard, drawing her sword.
* Shandor grabs the first guard and strikes him in the face.
* Shandor says, 'No! Don't kill him.'
* Rue nods and hits the guard in the face with the hilt of her sword.
* Shandor says, 'If we kill anyone, we'll have everyone in Tildruin against us.'
* Rue looks over at Shandor. "Better?"
* Faelnon says, 'And I suppose breaking into the leader's palace will give us a parade?'
* Shandor smiles at Rue.
* Cyria muffles the guards mouth, "What should I do with him then?"
<@Narrator> 'Excuse me?' A voice calls from inside the room the guards were standing outside.
* Shandor smiles, 'Knock him out.'
* Shandor sighs, 'Whoops.'
* Tengu jumps down and grabs the staff from behind his back, looking for more enemies.
* Shandor waves for the others to get down.
* Faelnon jumps down and rolls on the ground.
* Ariea giggles at Faelnon before jumping down.
* Cyria hits him in the gut and knocks the guard out
* Shandor says, 'Yes... er, sir?'
<@Narrator> 'My guests are expecting me, let's head on.'
* Shandor gestures at the others to get rid of the unconscious guards.
* Rue looks over at Shandor and mouths, "West?"
* Faelnon grabs one by the arms and drags it out of sight of the doorway.
* Shandor nods to Rue.
* Rue drags the body of the other guard and pulls him behind a statue.
<@Narrator> The door swings open as a tall, dark haired man steps out. 'Why aren't you in uniform?'
* Shandor looks at him for a moment, 'Er, it chafes?' Before punching him in the face, sending him sprawling into the room he came out of.
* Faelnon rolls his eyes, 'Very diplomatic.'
* Shandor says, 'I thought so.'
* Shandor goes inside and grabs him by the arms and drags him outside.
* Faelnon says, 'I'm actually scared to ask, but what are you doing?'
* Rue stands back and crosses her arms.
* Shandor says, 'Taking him with us, the guards won't do anything to us if we have the leader of Tildruin at our mercy.'
* Tengu comes from the cover battle-ready, looks at unconscious figure and sighs.
* Faelnon points out, 'But that implies you intend to meet more guards.'
* Rue shakes her head. "So we're taking the unconscious body of Robert West to where?"
* Cyria sighs
* Shandor says, 'Oh yeah... Oh well.'
* Shandor turns to Rue, 'With us.'
* Ariea says, 'Rue, do you still think Shandor's got it all together?'
* Cyria says, "And what happens if he isn't even a dragon like you predict he is?"
* Faelnon says, 'I think his planning licence should be revoked...'
* Rue looks at Ariea. "Shandor's had it together before?"
* Shandor says, 'We apologise, knock him out and lock him in a closet.'
* Ariea says, 'Good point, I can't remember a time..'
* Cyria agrees, "We should get his planning licence removed right now"
* Faelnon grins, 'He might have it in his pocket, let's knock him out and lock him in a closet.'
* Shandor says, 'Gee-ah, get away from me.'
* Shandor continues to drag West.
* Faelnon sighs, 'Glad to see us being so... legal.'
* Shandor smiles, 'Got to set a good example.'
* Ariea says, 'Guys, could we move it?'
* Rue continues. "Shandor, you said that if we killed a guard, all of Tildruin would be against us....but you seem to be dragging their unconscious leader around where you please......."
* Shandor says, 'Um, stop picking holes in my logic and drag!'
<@Narrator> 'Where is he?' The adviser for trade asks standing in the dining hall beside a table of fruits. 'I don't know. He should be here by now, the guests are getting restless.' Replies the leader of the merchant's union in Tildruin.
<@Narrator> The adviser for trade looks about the room where people are still dancing, drinking, or laughing, 'Yes, they look just about ready to riot...'
<@Narrator> 'Send some guards to go find him.'
* Shandor continues to drag West down along a corridor.
* Tengu looks around, 'Aren't we looking suspicious, dragging the body along the corridor?'
* Shandor says, 'Aren't we looking suspicious, being here at all?'
* Shandor says, 'The office should be just along here.'
* Rue looks at Tengu. "Well, it's not like we could make him walk...he is unconscious."
* Faelnon nods, 'I can see the door.'
* Shandor says, 'It is probably locked.' He checks one of Robert West's pockets, 'And I've got the keys.'
* Shandor moves ahead and reaches the double doors. The wood has been excellently carved, painted white with gold decorations. He presses the golden handle, it doesn't move.
* Tengu comes closer to Robert West, "Never thought knocking off a Dragon would be so easy."
* Rue shifts uncomfortably, not liking the feel of being in a castle again.
* Shandor tries a key, no luck. He mutters, 'There are at least ten.'
* Faelnon says, 'Then hurry.'
<@Narrator> There are several light thuds approaching, more guards.
* Shandor hears the sounds, 'I'm hurrying.'
* Ariea taps the hilt of her sword tensely.
* Rue taps her foot. "Come on, Shandor."
* Shandor hears the lock click, 'Found it!'
* Shandor pushes the door open and is shoved forward by Faelnon.
* Ariea dashes in.
* Rue practically shoves Shandor through the door. "Move it!"
* Faelnon grabs West by the wrists and drags in through.
* Tengu rushes in
* Shandor closes the door and locks it just before the guards come around the corner.
* Tengu stands near the door listening.
<@Narrator> The office is lavishly decorated, showing exactly what the people of Tildruin pay their taxes for. Surrounding two walls are stuffed animals. Against another wall are polished mahogany cabinets.
<@Narrator> The centre of the floor has a uniquely stitched rug. On the edge of the rug are two red leather chairs with mahogany legs and arms. They are pointed to a large polished mahogany desk with a similar leather chair, but much larger, behind it. Behind the desk is the other wall, this one has a large canvas painted by an unfamiliar, but no doubt very expensive, artist.
* Shandor whistles before stating, 'Can I be leader of Tildruin now?'
* Rue blinks. "West isn't dead yet..."
* Shandor says, 'I can fix that...'
* Rue glances around the room before taking a liking to a dark corner.
* Faelnon says, 'No-one is killing any politicians! No matter how tempting.'
* Rue shifts again, still uncomfortable.
* Shandor says, 'Someone grab something to barricade this door with. Just in case.'
* Faelnon approaches the edge of the painting and knocks it off, it tumbles to the floor unceremoniously and hits the chair producing a ripping sound.
* Shandor says, 'Hey! That was probably priceless.'
* Rue begins dragging the desk with a small bit of trouble.
* Ariea helps Rue.
<@Narrator> There is a loud knock at the door, 'Sir, are you all right?'
* Faelnon whispers to Shandor, 'Looks like you get to be the leader of Tildruin after all.'
* Shandor looks amongst the group before he states, trying to mimic West's voice, 'Ahem, yes, I'm just fine.'
<@Narrator> The guard says, 'Your guests are waiting for you, sir.'
* Shandor says, 'Er, right-o, I'll be out in a few minutes.'
* Faelnon mouths at Shandor questioningly, '"Right-o"?'
<@Narrator> The real Robert West groans on the floor.
<@Narrator> 'Er sir?' The guard asks, 'Are you sure you are alright?' Another moan from West.
* Rue looks at Shandor. "Should I hit him?"
* Shandor says, 'Just fine.'
* Shandor says, 'If you want, quietly, though'
<@Narrator> 'May we come in?'
* Rue smacks West with her elbow.
* Shandor says, 'Not just now.'
<@Narrator> The guard tries the handle, 'Sir, please let us in.'
* Shandor creeps over to Faelnon and whispers, 'Well, that didn't work. You'd better hurry up with that safe.'
* Tengu takes a firmer grip of his weapon as he makes one step away from entrance along the wall.
* Faelnon points to the safe, 'If I knew how to open it, that would help.'
<@Narrator> The doors shudders from a strike.
* Rue blinks. "I think I have an idea..."
* Shandor looks at Rue, 'We need one.'
* Tengu whispers, 'No respect for superiors...'
* Shandor moves over to West and slaps him, 'How do you get this safe open?'
* Rue raises her voice so that the people on the other side of the door can hear. "Robert, where are you going? Come back to the desk..."
* Shandor looks at Rue in surprise.
* Shandor says, 'Er-er, coming...'
<@Narrator> The door remins still and quiet.
<@Narrator> West comes to and looks around before shouting, 'Guards! Help! Intruders!'
* Shandor sighs, 'Great!'
* Rue smacks her forehead.
<@Narrator> Something heavy hits the door.
* Shandor says, 'We forgot the gag, didn't we?'
* Shandor turns to Faelnon, 'We don't have long, figure out how to open that.'
* Faelnon says, 'I need more time!' He touches the safe and tries the handle, it lights up with energy and burns Faelnon's hand lightly. 'Argh!'
* Ariea asks, 'Why not just take it?'
* Faelnon looks at Ariea, 'What?'
* Rue points. "It's a safe. You can't carry a safe!"
* Ariea says, 'Why not just hack it out and take it? Oh dear, I'm sounding more and more like Thor.'
* Ariea says, 'You can... kind-a...'
* Tengu says, 'Why not take the palace also...'
* Shandor says, 'Do it, hack the safe out, it is our best bet at the moment.'
* Shandor grins at Tengu, 'What a good idea.'
<@Narrator> The door rattles and shudders. The sounds of more guards arriving can be made out in the room.
* Shandor says, 'Someone get that window open, we may need it.'
* Shandor says, 'Everyone else, start hitting around that safe. We need it out now!'
* Faelnon looks at his quarterstaff, 'I doubt this'll do much good.'
* Ariea takes her sword out of her sheath and rams it into the wall a bit above the safe.
* Tengu gets some priceless jar and throws it through the window, shattering the glass.
* Rue pulls out her sword and carves at the wall around the safe.
* Shandor states, 'Since it appears we have to go that way, our easiest bet is to head out through the cellar, unfortunately, that passes dangerously close to the dining hall.'
* Faelnon shrugs, 'No better ideas?'
<@Narrator> The door begins to splinter and fracture.
* Ariea says, 'We've nearly got it.’
* Rue turns around and looks at the door. "I don't think we have time for better ideas."
* Ariea puts her blade in and pries. The safe gives up and slides out.
* Faelnon jumps out of the way of it falling on his toes.
* Tengu says, 'Who'll carry this?'
* Rue looks at Tengu.
* Rue smiles. "I vote that Tengu carries it."
* Shandor nods.
* Tengu says, 'Wha.. Er.. Me?'
<@Narrator> West begins shouting, 'What the hell do you think you are doing? You'll not get away with this! I'll have you hunted down like- arg!' His sentence was cut short by Shandor's boot.
* Shandor says, 'Bored of you.'
* Shandor says, 'Alright, through the window!'
* Rue smiles and pats Tengu on the shoulder as she walks past. "Thanks for volunteering."
* Faelnon reports, 'There's a trellis, we can climb down!'
* Shandor stops pushing against the door. He grabs Robert and hauls him to his feet going to the window.
* Tengu shoulders the safe sadly, and moves on.
<@Narrator> The cabinet tumbles over and shoved out of the way as the doors are forced open by at least ten guards.
* Shandor holds a dagger to Robert's throat, 'Ah-ah-ah, step back please.'
* Ariea climbs out of the window and begins down the trellis.
* Faelnon waves for the others to hurry.
* Rue draws her sword and glares at the guards, backing towards the window.
* Rue turns and looks at Faelnon, sheathing her sword.
* Rue climbs out of the window.
* Faelnon goes next.
* Shandor titles his head slightly towards Tengu, 'Go!'
* Tengu looks at guards, 'Don't try anything, he's really mad', the starts climbing down.
* Shandor calls after Tengu, 'Oh thanks, that really helped.'
* Shandor spots the last of the group go before throwing Robert forwards the guards and swinging out of the window onto the trellis.
* Tengu tries to retain balance while climbing down with a weighty box on his shoulders.
* Faelnon asks, 'Where to?'
* Shandor leaps the last bit and points to a door on the other side, 'Go!'
<@Narrator> Most of the guards leave the office to find a way down, a couple remain with West.
* Shandor shoves open the door and charges down the corridor. He can hear music.
* Ariea follows.
* Tengu tries to jog along, sweating profusely.
* Rue races after Shandor, turning around every few moments to make sure Tengu hasn't dropped the safe.
* Faelnon runs along.
* Shandor ducks into another corridor to make sure no-one is around. He begins following from the back.
* Faelnon looks down a set of stairs, 'Down here?'
* Shandor nods.
* Rue stops when she hears someone call, 'Excuse me?'
* Shandor hears the voice too and turns around. A rather plump woman has spotted Shandor and Rue, but not the others.
<@Narrator> 'Excuse me? Do you work here? Could you tell me why the meal has been delayed?'
* Rue exhales in relief.
* Shandor opens his mouth to say something while he discreetly waves at the others to go on, 'We-er, erm-'
<@Narrator> 'You do work here, don't you?' She asks, getting slightly suspicious.
* Shandor says, 'Yes ma'am, it is just that we wouldn't really know why Mr. West is delayed.'
* Rue nods in agreement.
<@Narrator> 'You work here? What line of work? You don't look like the guards, the waiters, or the kitchen staff.'
* Faelnon continues down the stairs.
* Faelnon pushes open a door and waves for the others to hurry in
* Rue stammers. "We're..um...you see we...what we do is..."
* Shandor blurts out, 'We are the entertainment,' While the rest of him is telling him to shut up, he continues, 'We are here to tide over the time while Mr. West gets here.'
* Rue looks over at Shandor with fire in her eyes.
<@Narrator> 'Oh goodie, well, do come on. What kind of entertainment do you do?'
* Shandor says, 'Er, magic, more specifically, great escapes.'
* Shandor shrugs at Rue
<@Narrator> 'Oh, I can't wait.'
* Shandor mutters under his breath, 'Neither can I.'
* Rue forces a smile.
* Tengu crounches after Faelnon.
* Faelnon continues down into the cellar, 'We can't go back. We'll be spotted. We've just got to get out and hope Shandor and Rue don't draw too much attention to themselves.'
<@Narrator> 'Attention! Attention everyone. While our generous host, Mr. West, is delayed, he has sent these two to entertain us.'
<@Narrator> There is a round of applause as Shandor and Rue are thrust onto the stage.
* Rue inhales deeply and stares at the audience with a fake smile plastered on her face.
* Shandor grins shyly.
* Shandor whispers to Rue, 'Any ideas?'
* Faelnon pokes his way through the cellar.
* Rue fumbles for an idea.
* Faelnon says, 'There's an exit here.'
* Rue looks at Shandor. "Cheap smoke trick?"
* Faelnon unbolts the door and kicks it open.
* Faelnon heads down to find the tiny door led to a very tiny corridor. Hunched over, Faelnon hurries along the corridor as fast as possible.
* Ariea follows.
* Shandor looks out over the audience, 'Er, hello all.'
* Shandor half-smiles and whispers to Rue, 'I need a rabbit and a hat.'
* Rue sighs, "Because those are just laying around."
* Shandor grins, 'Don't I know it.'
* Rue looks out at the audience, "So...um...how is everyone?"
* Tengu has to push the box before him through the narrow corridor, producing too much unwanted noise.
* Shandor tries to think of a suitable spell.
* Faelnon tries to help Tengu move the safe.
* Rue continues, "We've got a quite a show tonight. We'll be demonstrating the power of...weather spells?"
* Rue looks at Shandor, "Like sun, rain and..." she emphasizes the next word, "fog?"
* Shandor looks at Rue, 'And, um, fire?'
* Rue nods, "Yes. Fire."
* Shandor nods, 'Okay, is everyone ready to be amazed?'
* Rue mutters under her breath, "I hope not..."
* Shandor thinks to himself *Don't make me smack you*.
* Shandor tries to prepare himself in a flashy way.
* Shandor shouts, 'Work darn you!' Before he begins chanting.
* Rue steps to the front of the stage. "The great magician Sha-" Rue stops, realizing that it would probably be incredibly foolish to reveal Shandor's name. "Who will remain nameless will now perform his first spell. Are you ready?"
<@Narrator> The torches lining the walls explode in flame and billow with smoke.
* Rue listens to the sparse applause and bites her lip.
* Shandor points to a line of tables in front of Rue as the smoke floods the room.
* Rue nods, as if she can read Shandor's thoughts.
* Shandor jumps down onto a row of tables in front of him and begins sprinting along, purposefully kicking plates of food into unsuspecting guests. He chuckles, 'Let's see West explain that.'
<@Narrator> The guards go to block the door.
* Rue chases behind Shandor laughing.
<@Narrator> The room is full of a thick smoke.
* Shandor grins, 'This is the funniest dinner party I've been at all year.
<@Narrator> The kitchen door to the dining hall swings open as a waiter comes out, he carries a silver platter with a whole boar, roasted, on it.
* Rue notes how close the guards and the waiter is. She dives into the waiter, knocking him over and into the guards as the boar heads up into the air briefly before striking another guard in the chest.
* Shandor can't help but burst into laughter as he grabs a plate on his way and gets to the door. The one guard remaining standing is quickly on the ground, a plate having just been shattered on his head.
* Ariea says, 'I can see the sky!'
* Rue picks herself up from the ground, laughing.
* Shandor goes outside into the entrance hall and waves for Rue to follow.
* Rue sprints towards Shandor and the exit.
<@Narrator> Two guards in the hall look at the two, slightly puzzled.
* Shandor dashes past them, 'Great party, really.'
* Faelnon reaches the end of the tunnel and climbs out, 'Okay, let's get back to the shop, try and be quiet, we don't want to upset the par-' There is a loud scream from inside, 'Never mind.'
* Shandor runs past two more guards, seeing no horses he decides just to sprint down the hill.
* Shandor grins, 'Ah, good times. I hope the other dragons are this much fun.'
* Rue yells behind her, "Thanks for having me!"
* Faelnon sees Shandor running and cautiously heads down the slope towards the city, 'Let's go.'
* Shandor grins at Rue, 'We'll have to invite ourselves to more parties.'
* Tengu pushes the safe out, soiled in dust, flour and spider web.
* Rue points, "There's the others!"
* Shandor waves at the others, 'You should've got caught too! It was much more fun.'
* Faelnon says, 'I'll have you know I had a terrific time traipsing through a tiny tunnel.'
* Rue recounts her experience to Faelnon.
* Rue looks at Tengu. "So, where are we taking the safe?"
* Tengu burdens himself again with the safe, 'Thor would be more eloquent on my place...'
* Shandor grins, 'Thor would smash it to pieces looking for gold.'
* Shandor says, 'Hey, that's a good idea.'
* Shandor continues on.
* Tengu says to Rue, 'Somewhere better not too far from here'
* Shandor says, 'We'll take everything and everyone back to the shop and stay there for tonight.'
* Rue says, "Why not take it back to the 'train?"
* Rue says, "Oh...or the shop."
* Shandor says, 'The 'train'll be locked up, and do you want to explain why we have a safe that we stole from the palace to Peter?'
* Ariea says, 'He'd probably laugh...'
* Shandor reaches the shop and knocks four times on the door, then twice more.
<@Narrator> Sarah comes to the door with a candle and opens it, 'You know, I do want to go home some time...'
* Shandor nods, 'We know.'
<@Narrator> Sarah states seriously, 'Good. Now,' She giggles, 'Did you get it? Was it fun? Did you annoy the guards? If not you are really good spies, hmm, maybe you should be a spy. I bet it'd be a lot of fun.'
* Rue laughs, then yawns.
* Faelnon says, 'I'm sure it would be... can we come in?'
<@Narrator> Sarah nods and smiles, 'Of course, silly me, where are my manners, you spies need to come in and relax.'
* Faelnon smiles politely, 'Not spies yet.'
* Shandor cleans a space on the main table for the safe, 'Set the safe down there Tengu.'
* Tengu barges in, nodding greetings with wry face.
* Shandor says, 'Anyone for tea? Or food? Or straight to sleep?'
* Faelnon pretends to be snoring, 'Wha-wha-what?'
* Ariea whispers, grinning, 'He's getting on in age... he randomly falls asleep.'
* Tengu gets rid of the ill-fated box.
* Rue blinks. "Sleep for me, thank you."
* Shandor grins, 'And me, blowing up a room really tires me out.'
* Faelnon glares at Shandor, 'I thought you only filled it with smoke!?'
* Shandor shrugs, still grinning, 'Whoopsie?'
* Rue laughs.
* Ariea yawns, 'It is sleep for me. There's a spare bedroom for Fa- for Rue. Faelnon and Tengu can sleep on the floor or something.'
* Faelnon says, 'But I'm getting on in age, I need a good bed.'
* Rue grins.
* Ariea grins, 'Ah be quiet old man.'
* Shandor chuckles as he goes to lock up the door.
* Rue says, "Well, I'm off to bed. Good night."
<@Narrator> Sarah scoots out into the night air, 'I'll head back home and come around tomorrow.'
* Shandor nods, 'Okay, good night Sarah.'
* Rue walks into the spare room and lays her equipment next to the bed.
* Shandor closes and locks the door.
* Tengu says, 'Good night everyone'
* Shandor says, 'Good night Rue.'
* Shandor says ''Night Tengu.'
* Ariea yawns a good night and heads to bed.
* Rue lays on the bed and is quickly asleep.
* Shandor heads up to bed.
* Faelnon looks about the floor, 'Ooo, comfy.'
* Tengu throws the worn-out blanket on the floor and falls asleep, despising all luxuries.
<@Narrator> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The 'Quest' III - Late, but great! Hey, I'm still rhyming. Ha, I'm so awesome >>>>>>>>>>>>
'The Best of the Rest'
<@Narrator> Sarah smiles at Tengu, 'Nice to meet you. I would hug you, but I've been informed by Shandor that people who get close to you or your staff end up with broken noses.'
* Cyria turns and asks, "How much for this book Shandor?"
Shandor smiles, 'For you, Cyria? Full price. I think that one is only five gold coins though.'
* Faelnon says, 'I didn't know you dealt in magical weapons Shandor.'
* Shandor turns to Faelnon, 'I dabble here and there...'
* Rue rolls her eyes.
* Faelnon smiles at Shandor, 'If you touch the wrong end of that, bits of you will be here and there.'
* Rue raises an eyebrow at Shandor.
* Rue raises her hand. "Um...how did SHANDOR come up with this?"
* Shandor grins.
* Rue walks over to Shandor and places a hand on his forehead.

* Rue stifles a laugh as she pictures the grappling hook bouncing off of a closed window and onto Shandor's head.
<@Narrator> OOC: Lol, let me change the narration so that happens. Thus, Shandor has even more reason for destroying the world. AGRAh, I mean, um, the 'Evil' has a reason for destroy the world. Crap.
Shut up! You are only making it worse by revealing that Shandor will destroy the world. Grahg!
ooc: I wish Faelnon would hurry up and climb up the rope

* Shandor whistles before stating, 'Can I be leader of Tildruin now?'
* Rue blinks. "West isn't dead yet..."
* Shandor says, 'I can fix that...'
From a PM with Rue discussing random things:

Odd voice: Oh Robert, come back to the desk... aahhhh

* Shandor half-smiles and whispers to Rue, 'I need a rabbit and a hat.'
* Rue sighs, "Because those are just laying around."
* Shandor grins, 'Don't I know it.'
* Rue turns around and sees a rabbit sitting next to a top hat. Who'da thunk?
