The 'Quest' III

Session IX - Mists

Organiser's Comment

Wow. Just wow.

Record length (over four hours!).
Long.
Fun, twisted, and Evil.

Points of interest:

~Initial description of the Gnome base thingy.
~The paradise like life and scenery of the Gnome base thingy.
~The dragon being an evil, twisted evil, evil person [which has me condemned as a really Evil person now. :D]
~So much Best of the Rest, you would not believe. Most of it is just hilarious.
~Me trying to kill Varadrion over and over.
~The Best of the Rest, it must be pointed out twice, so good.

Also, notice the time this is up at (well, you probably won't), this session is record breaking in length, and in time taken to put up. Yay. Heck, even the plot summary is done.

Oh, and we have a new 'Quest' tag thanks to the Best of the Rest:

So Rude,
So Lewd,
It has to be the 'Quest'.

Plot Summary

The 'train is moving through a forest. Faelnon and Shandor are finishing a potion of some sort while Rue and Varadrion confront a stranger who is riding alongside the 'train. The stranger introduces himself and is brought on board. Faelnon orders the 'train to stop in a misty meadow in the middle of the forest. He climbs off the 'train, Shandor following with the clay pot which holds the potion. Shandor sets the potion down, Faelnon tells the group to brace themselves for strangeness. Shandor removes the lid of the clay pot.

For a long moment nothing happens. Then there is a faint light emanating from the pot. The mists begin to swirl about, they rise up in wall-like shapes along the edges of the meadow, locking the group in. The mist inside also takes a new shape, one part of it, slightly off centre, rises in a dome, with a cylindrical structure on top. Near the left wall (from the group's perspective) another giant structure is formed in the mists, it appears to be roughly rectangular in shape, with towers at the four corners. Connected to this building are smaller sections, each with two towers and surrounding walls. The mists stop moving and everything is still for a moment. Then, the mists fade away leaving real structures in their place. The mist-walls turn into giant walls made of stone slabs with watchtowers dotted periodically around.

Along the north wall there is a small lake that wasn't there before that goes under the wall and outside. The dome turns into a large, man-made mound of earth with a cylindrical fort on top. The mound is surrounded by a shallow moat. Bulging out of one area of the fort's wall is another small tower that is a few metres taller than the top of the wall. The inside of the fort is hollow, but there are several wooden shacks and structures. The other structure appears to be some form of manor house. The walls are broken up by magnificently done arched windows, some with stained glass images. The first four towers are of similar design, plain, square in area. They become slightly wider near the top and each side has large windows. The roof is layered, at a slope, upwards into a point adorned with gold. The structures that appear last are obvious additions to the original structure. The towers seem to change from style and shape, although, what they enclose remains rather identical, also, they each have a window covering one side of the tower facing outwards. From the original building, two tall, thin structures jut out, connecting with two towers and continuing on through to the next to towers and so on. They appear to be two corridors on top of each other with rooms lining them. In the hollow between structures, there are elegant, beautifully hypnotic gardens of tranquillity. There is a square lawn to each, surrounded by flowerbeds and trees of captivating hues. The shrubs nearest the original structure are in full bloom of light coloured leaves and petals, mostly pale pinks, vibrant reds and oranges. Two meandering paths lead to a statue of a woman with long, flowing hair which cascades down her face and over her shoulders. Above this woman is a sun. The next garden is filled with light purple plants. There are paths, to a statue of a woman with half a moon and half a sun above her. The following garden has a wide range of blue hues. There is a similar layout here to the first garden, paths leading to a statue, this time of a man with a crescent moon above him. In the bright sunlight, the reds, pinks and oranges seem to have a near-magical quality to them. The mist, apparently, has not completely disappeared and figures appear in small clouds of it. They are Gnomes. After the mist disappears, so too do the clouds in the sky, leaving a beaming sun, shining down on the glistening gardens. [Ha ha, I still forced you guys to read the narration. - Ed].

The group are rather surprised by these events as a Gnome comes up and introduces himself to them as Maifln. He knows who the group are and leads them into the pink-garden to talk. He explains that the Gnomes no longer live on this continent except for his group. He says that they created the first dragon while they were trying to create something beautiful. Because they couldn't defeat it, they locked it in a prison at Tildruin, where a giant would rule over and prevent people from nearing it. Of course, the giant died and Tildruin was formed. He continues to say that because the Gnome people had had such a close brush with that evil, they can feel the End, and are terrified of it - thus fleeing the mainland. He says that there were seven dragons abandoned as magic that were activated, by accident, by Shandor. And now they will destroy the world. This place was made by one of the builders of the prison to study the End and to prepare to do something at the End. The group are in conflict, some wish to give up, some wish to continue fighting, Isondil bitterly resents Maifln because the dragons killed his wife. After a long debate Shandor and Faelnon say to pick sides, those who wish to fight, and those who wish to give up - all go to Faelnon and Shandor - to fight. With that settled, Faelnon and Shandor go to the library to research while the others head to have tea.

After a brief tea, the group scatter, going off to investigate different things. Varadrion goes to the library to see if they've found anything. Shandor, meanwhile, has accidentally knocked a ruby from the cover of a book he was looking at. Maifln says he can keep it, when Shandor looks at it, he finds it gone.

The day passes quickly and soon it is night, the blue-garden is glowing in the moonlight. Ariea, Varadrion, Isondil and Tengu are outside enjoying the tranquillity. Ariea enquires about the gardens and learns that the blue-garden reacts to moonlight, the pink-garden to sunlight and the middle garden to dawn and dusk. She asks for some saplings for her home and Maifln happily agrees, saying he'll have it sorted out in the morning. The two then head up to the library to see what damage Shandor and Faelnon have caused. The two are still busily working, and have enlisted the help of Rue. Ariea drags Shandor outside demanding that he take a break.

Everything is peaceful and blissful as the sands of time slip through one's hand. It is morning again. The day is bright and beautiful and the group are wondering about. Isondil is given archery lessons to Saam (the newest member of the group) while Tengu exercises. Faelnon and Thor are in the fort, examining weaponry. Shandor emerges from the manor house reading a book, Ariea finds him, he doesn't even realise it is morning, but doesn't mind saying that the books contain every detail of history and life. Rue awakens where she fell asleep, in the library, lying on a book. Shandor is ordered to take a break by Ariea, but first he returns to the library to put his book back and to find his ring. Rue discovers something interesting in the text and Shandor says it could prove useful. After finding his ring, he states that Rue should take a break too.

Everyone is having a great time in the area. Shandor and Ariea are sitting beside the lake watching the colourful fish. Isondil and Saam are still training. Rue is wondering through the garden. Faelnon and Thor are still in the fort having a look about. Maifln has returned to his office in one of the newer towers. Shandor suddenly looks to be in pain. Shandor stands up and tells Ariea to run. She remains still until he grabs her as he sprints towards the manor house. The two end up in a storeroom where Shandor begins preparing a spell. Outside, the others continue on, blissfully unaware. Maifln watches as his cup of tea shakes and tumbles from the desk before stating, 'May the gods have mercy on us-'

'They've found us.' Shandor states from the store room. His spell is complete allowing him to speak to everyone in the area at once. He orders them to hide, remain out of the courtyard, or they will die. Faelnon bolts the door to the fort shut as the group scatter about. Saam ends up diving in the lake. Something very heavy lands in the main yard. Maifln has ducked behind his desk to avoid being spotted through the window. The beast raises its head to the window and shatters it with a bellow. Maifln shivers with fear as the dragon descends back down and lies down on the ground. Ariea finds him and the two crawl down the stairwell of the tower. Everyone remains deadly silent, hoping the creature will just go away. Suddenly, a little girl, who has missed any of the gnomes who would've hidden her, skips down the front steps happily. She sees the dragon, but is not instilled with the same innate fears as her family. The dragon looks at her. She waves innocently and says sweetly, 'Hi there.'

The dragon looks at her. Varadrion, Isondil and Rue, meanwhile, are in the library, they are looking at the window at the girl, silently begging her just to run. Ariea audibly begs for her to run away. The dragon seems unaware of the pleas and ignites the area in flame. The group look away in horror.

Faelnon mutters an attack. He and Thor charge down the steps towards the dragon. The dragon uses its tail to destroy the bridge to the fort. Varadrion, Rue and Isondil also attack. Faelnon, Thor, and now Rue, are forced to retreat to the fort. The dragon goes on an attack against the fort while Varadrion climbs onto its back.

The dragon takes to attacking the gardens, Varadrion is eventually thrown off (into a wall, no less), and he and Isondil struggle along. Ariea and Maifln get into the gardens from one of the towers and rush towards the entrance to the main complex. Isondil and Varadrion follow. Shandor gets the door open and they all duck inside before the fires fully engulf the gardens.

Shandor and his group (herein the manor group) dash through the narrow corridors of the manor looking for a viable exit - on the other side of the manor. Faelnon and his group (herein the fort group) are attacked by the dragon. They survive, but the same cannot be said for a large chunk of the outside wall. The dragon ignites the innards of the fort and the fort group barely manage to escape. The manor group are nearly at the exit when a claw smashes through the building and blocks their path, another smashes behind. They are forced to flee up the only option left - the stairs upwards of a tower. The dragon decides to play a game of cat and mouse with the fort group, meanwhile. The manor group reach the top of the tower. Across the way there is another tower, one that leads to an exit. A daring plan is hurriedly hatched - get a rope to the other tower and climb across. This plan works and Maifln and Ariea are forced to go first. A small group of gnomes insist on going last, but Varadrion and Tengu force them to go before they do.

The dragon is rather bored of the cat and mouse game and looks to go back to destroying the manor. It, however, spots the manor group perilously dangling from a rope. It ignites part of this rope (and a few gnomes). The rope snaps, Shandor, still on the rope that survived closed to the 2nd tower flies through the air and smacks into the side of the 2nd tower. Meanwhile, the dragon tears at the 1st tower, causing it to snap like a twig and tumble over, towards the roof of the manor. It crashes through, and begins to crumble. What remains of the now-upside down tower crashes through into the main entrance hall. Tengu and Varadrion crawl from the wreckage and realise the original exit was here. They find it and escape into the tunnels. Shandor, Ariea, and Maifln meanwhile, rush down the steps of the 2nd tower and reach a basement area full of barrels of wine. They shift a few of these to notice that one was attached to several slabs of stone, they haul it away and reveal the 2nd entrance to the tunnels. They crawl down quickly into the darkness.

The fort group have also hatched a plan to escape: they intend to swim under the lake at the north wall. The only problem is, there is a metal grate covering it. So Rue takes it upon herself to break into the wall system and find the controls to the grate and lift it up. The dragon, of course being characteristically friendly and helpful, has made a hole the wall, with claws, and fire. Plenty of fire. Rue manages to get through all the mayhem and gets the grate up. Everyone dives in and begins swimming for their lives.

The split manor group reunite in the tunnels and begin towards an exit.

The fort group reaches the other side of the lake and take off into the forest, hoping the dragon won't see them.

The manor group reach the surface, also, and stay hidden in the woods.

The dragon is rather bored of all this killing and slaughtering. It decides now would be the time to leave. It takes off into the sky and disappears. The two groups eventually find each other, but no time is wasted in leaving.

As the 'train pulls away, one of its wheels hits the clay pot the spell was formed in. The pot shatters and everything fades back into the mists - there is no trace of what was there.

Full Log (See Below for 'The Best of the Rest')

<@Narrator> <<<<<<< The 'Quest' III - Varadrion is here on time, the true sign of the End of the World >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

<@Narrator> There is a light cloud covering this day, however, it is light and cheerful out. The 'train is moving along a small path running through a small forest.

øùú Varadrion sits at the front edge of his cabin and says to himself "Forests.. every time we enter a forest, something bad happens"

øùú Faelnon asks, 'Is it ready?'

øùú Shandor flicks jar with his finger, 'Nearly.'

øùú Shandor has carefully constructed a small laboratory with what resources he had, or brought with him. Most of it is quite simple, mortar and pestle, etc. Presently, he is pouring a careful amount of an orange liquid into a jar of various plant materials and other liquids using a burette.

øùú Shandor stops the burette from pouring and takes the jar. He adds the entire contents into a large bowl and begins pounding the plant materials into fine fragments. 'Are you sure I couldn't have done this before all the liquid was added.'

øùú Tengu opens his eyes, puts out a stick of incense in his cabin and stands from floor.

øùú Varadrion stands and walks towards the front cabin of 'train

øùú Faelnon says, 'Quite sure.' He pauses for a few seconds before stating, 'Well, mostly sure. Almost completely, probably, mostly sure.'

øùú Cyria does what she normally does when she is bored and stares blankly out the window

øùú Shandor looks at Faelnon and shakes his head, 'How do we even know you are translating that right?'

øùú Rue is sitting on the roof of the 'train, staring up at the sky.

øùú Varadrion climbs up onto the roof of the train and looks at Rue

øùú Thor does what he normally does when he is bored - ruthlessly raid the food cabin.

øùú Faelnon says, 'If you want, I'll go down the road and pick up my ten thousand year old gnome neighbour and have him translate it for me...'

øùú Rue looks over at Varadrion, nods in greeting, and continues staring at the sky.

øùú Shandor replies, plainly, 'That would be nice.'

øùú Varadrion sits opposite Rue and looks up, "Anything interesting?"

øùú Rue points to a cloud, "That one looks like a bunny?"

øùú Saam rides slowly up to the train, hood pulled far over his face.

øùú Varadrion smiles softly and laughs

øùú Tengu flexes his fingers and walks off his cabin. Then climbs on the roof, as it is nowhere else to go in a moving wagon train.

øùú Rue sits up and looks to the side, noticing the hooded rider.

øùú Faelnon checks his translation notes - all the notes taken from the Dragon's chamber and West's office have been translated - 'Okay, add... do you know what this looks like?' He says, pointing to an ingredient.

øùú Rue points to him and looks at Varadrion. "Who's that? He doesn't look familiar..."

øùú Shandor nods and looks amongst the scattered plant pieces he has on his desk. After a moment he carefully selects a leaf that looks as if it came from a holly bush, but it is light red in colour. He adds it to the mix and grinds it in. 'There... There?'

øùú Faelnon nods, 'There.'

øùú Varadrion moves his hand to the sheathes of his daggers and says "I agree, and the shut hood doesn't help"

øùú Shandor sighs with relief and pours the potion into a clay pot. He puts a lid on it and grins to himself, 'That was easy.'

øùú Faelnon looks at Shandor, 'Easy? We've been up since sunrise making this.'

øùú Ariea complains, 'I noticed, couldn't you have gone else were? Some of us need our beauty-sleep.'

øùú Rue begins to climb down from the roof, "Since our faithful leaders are busy, I guess I'll see who it is..."

øùú Saam doesn’t make a move apart from to keep riding with pace beside the train

øùú Varadrion calls out to the hooded rider, "Identify yourself!"

øùú Faelnon grins jokingly, 'Some of us definitely d-' He is cut off by a playful kick to the ankle from Shandor.

øùú Shandor stands up, 'Okay, well, I deserve a break. I wonder what the others are up to?'

øùú Shandor heads out of his cabin, followed by Ariea.

øùú Saam casts a glace at Varadrion but keeps quiet

øùú Faelnon looks at the pot before securing it so it doesn't fall and destroy all of their hard work.

øùú Rue walks to the side of the 'train so that she is standing alongside the rider. "Hail!"

øùú Shandor spots Rue and Varadrion and walks over to see what is going on.

øùú Tengu sits cross-legged on the roof, looking at the hooded figure.

øùú Ariea follows, noting the presence of the rider.

øùú Varadrion pushes the lower part of his cloak aside, revealing a sword and repeats himself "Identify yourself!"

øùú Shandor smiles at Varadrion, 'Now now, we have to give them at least a minute before we get sword-friendly.'

øùú Rue drums her fingers on the hilt of her sword, less trusting now.

øùú Varadrion casts a glance at Shandor and says "With all the assassins we've had after us lately, he is taking a big chance by remaining silent"

øùú Shandor turns to the rider, 'Hail, I am Shandor, owner of this 'train, may I help you?'

øùú Rue nods in agreement.

øùú Shandor whispers to the two, 'If he keeps it up, I may... accidentally cause his horse to trip.'

øùú Saam looks at Varadrion’s sword in surprise, not expect to be threatened quite so quickly.

øùú Cyria hears people on the roof and decides to see what is going on

øùú Saam says, 'I'm Saam'.

øùú Varadrion drops his cloak, only slightly, and looks at Shandor "Friend of yours?"

øùú Shandor smiles, 'See? That wasn't hard...'

øùú Shandor turns to Varadrion, 'Never seen him before. Technically, I still haven't, Is the hood really necessary?'

øùú Rue drops her hand back to her side.

øùú Faelnon arrives beside the others.

øùú Saam says, 'No'. But doesn’t make a move to draw it back

øùú Varadrion says "Then why not remove it?"

øùú Rue nods to Faelnon.

øùú Shandor grins, 'I can remove it by force.'

øùú Tengu starts examining his toes while listening to conversation.

øùú Faelnon nods to Rue before he moves over to her to find out what is going on.

øùú Rue stares out at the trees briefly.

øùú Varadrion looks at Shandor

øùú Rue points to the rider. "This is Saam. We're assuming he's friendly, I suppose."

øùú Saam sighs and draws back the hood revealing the horribly scared left side of his face.

øùú Rue is only slightly taken aback.

øùú Shandor seems unfazed.

øùú Varadrion drops his cloak completely down, covering his sword, and stands silently

øùú Rue nods, "Well, I'm Rue."

øùú Faelnon states, 'Faelnon.'

øùú Saam nods.

øùú Ariea says, 'Ariea.'

øùú Tengu raises his eyes to Saam, looks at his scars for a moment, "I am Tengu".

øùú Cyria pops over the top the wagon to find out what is so interesting

øùú Thor leaves the food cabin and sees the group.

øùú Thor says, 'What's goin' on 'ere?'

øùú Cyria asks, "So, who is this that we seemed to have stumbled upon?"

øùú Rue points again to the rider. "This is Saam. We're assuming he's friendly, I suppose."

øùú Varadrion notes "Assuming"

øùú Thor says, 'Oh. So, who's for grub then?'

øùú Saam says, 'I don't mean any harm if that’s what you meant by friendly'.

øùú Shandor turns to Thor, 'Haven't you just come from the food cabin?'

øùú Rue smiles. "That's exactly what I meant. So, what brings you to the 'train?"

øùú Varadrion turns to Thor and says "I am getting quite hungry"

øùú Thor shrugs before returning his gaze to the rider.

øùú Saam says, 'You need to travel in a group to get through this forest alive. I thought it wouldn't bother you if I tagged along'.

øùú Thor says, 'This, er, standin' around in silence doin' nothin' is fun an' all, but I'm off for seconds.'

øùú Thor heads away towards the food cabin.

øùú Tengu sighs, "Assumption is a first step towards trust. Though recent events dispose to the opposite."

øùú Shandor says, 'We haven't encountered anything troublesome about this forest yet...'

øùú Cyria says, "The key word is yet"

øùú Varadrion looks at Tengu "Far to the opposite"

øùú Saam sighs, 'Yes, Assumption is a first step towards trust. But did you trust me when I didn't talk. What if I was mute?'

øùú Varadrion turns to Saam "But you are not"

øùú Shandor says, 'You aren't, so it isn't the point.'

øùú Rue grins. "Well if you were mute, we'd have to kill you."

øùú Varadrion shrugs and follows Thor to the food cabin

øùú Tengu shrugs, "It's good you aren't mute".

øùú Rue looks at Faelnon. "Well, should we stop the 'train so that Saam can climb aboard?"

øùú Faelnon says, 'The more the merrier. As long as they aren't evil assassins, that's not merry at all.'

øùú Rue laughs.

øùú Saam smile at the words 'Evil Assassins'

øùú Faelnon heads along to the drivers and orders them to stop.

øùú Tengu wonders if there are good assassins.

<@Narrator> The wagon train comes to a swift and gentle stop.

øùú Saam pulls himself aboard from his horse. Thinking it will follow along

øùú Varadrion asks Thor "What do you suggest?"

øùú Isondil looks outside and sees someone climb onto the train

øùú Saam climbs up and walks towards Rue and asks bowing low, 'May I ride with you?'

øùú Faelnon leads the horse to the front and adds it to the horses there, he orders the drivers onwards and the 'train is in motion.

øùú Rue nods.

øùú Saam thanks Rue and sits close beside.

øùú Isondil moves out of his cabin to see the newcomer

øùú Varadrion returns from the food cabin with a few apples, and gives a glance around to see if anyone wants one

øùú Faelnon goes up to the driver's wagon and climbs onto the roof.

øùú Shandor says to Saam, 'There is a free cabin next to the weapons one near the back.'

øùú Varadrion looks at Saam suspiciously

øùú Isondil moves onto the roof of his cabin

øùú Saam says, trying to be polite that he is fine where he is.

øùú Shandor goes into his cabin to check on the potion.

øùú Rue resumes staring at the clouds from the roof.

øùú Varadrion looks from Rue to Saam and back again, and smiles softly at rue

øùú Isondil moves towards Rue on the next roof

øùú Faelnon checks his scrolls including a few maps before he states, 'Okay, stop here.'

øùú Saam turns to Rue and asks, 'Is Varadrion always so quick to mistrust people?'

<@Narrator> The 'train has stopped in a flat meadow that is roughly square. The meadow is surrounded by a forest. There is a thick mist lying on the ground.

øùú Rue shrugs. "It's hard to trust people with what we've been through."

øùú Isondil looks of the roof at the ground

øùú Saam nods knowingly.

øùú Varadrion says "Meadow in a forest.. wow this brings back numerous bad memories"

øùú Faelnon climbs off the 'train and stands in the mist, 'Shandor, bring the potion here.'

øùú Varadrion looks at Saam and says "I trust very few people after I've known them for a long time, and I just met you"

øùú Rue stands and climbs from the roof to the walkway connecting the cabins. "What are we doing here?"

øùú Isondil sits on the edge of the roof and looks down at Faelnon and Shandor

øùú Faelnon turns to Rue, 'You'll find out soon enough.'

øùú Shandor comes out, carefully holding the clay pot as if it would explode if moved suddenly.

øùú Rue nods.

øùú Faelnon says, 'Okay, set it down here.'

øùú Shandor complies.

øùú Isondil yawns and leans back on the roof

øùú Varadrion hops off the train and walks off to the edge of the forest

øùú Tengu says, "I have a strange feeling about this place..."

øùú Saam asks Rue and Varadrion 'What’s the pot for?'

øùú Faelnon calls to Varadrion, 'It is safer on the 'train, trust me.'

øùú Shandor grins at Faelnon, 'Isn't that how I ended up dying the first time?'

øùú Rue shrugs. "I know just about as much as you do on that, Saam."

øùú Saam looks worried.

øùú Varadrion turns to Faelnon and calls "Fine" and turns back to the train slowly

øùú Faelnon says to the group, 'Okay, this may seem strange, but don't worry - strange is what we normally deal with. Shandor, the pot.'

øùú Shandor nods and removes the lid. He quickly steps away in case it does, indeed, explode.

<@Narrator> For a long moment nothing happens. Then there is a faint light emanating from the pot. The mists begin to swirl about, they rise up in wall-like shapes along the edges of the meadow, locking the group in. <@Narrator> After the mist disappears, so too do the clouds in the sky, leaving a beaming sun, shining down on the glistening gardens.

øùú Shandor says, 'See, that is twice as amazing as just having the place here.'

øùú Isondil looks at the structures open mouthed

øùú Faelnon looks at Shandor briefly before stating, 'Quite.'

øùú Saam exclaims, 'You really don't see that every day!'. His eyes boggling with fear.

øùú Cyria gawks in awe at the magnificence of the great transformation

øùú Rue 's eyes go wide as she gasps in wonderment, staring at the gardens.

øùú Ariea says, 'That was... wow.'

øùú Tengu says, "All... these... Came out of the pot?"

øùú Thor grins, 'What's so great about that?'

øùú Varadrion looks shaken, but attempts to hide it

øùú Rue climbs down from the 'train and strands, blinking in surprise at a loss for words.

øùú Shandor turns to Tengu, 'Actually, the pot only triggered the transformation, the rest was always here, just concealed.'

øùú Isondil asks 'Did this all come out of the sneezing pot?'

øùú Saam asks Shandor, 'Couldn't you have warned us?'

øùú Varadrion steps up to the wall and runs his hands over it

øùú Shandor says, 'That would've taken all the fun out if it, Saam.'

øùú Shandor turns to Isondil, 'Nope, the Trovocian pot is still at the store in Tildruin, that pot was just a regular clay one.'

øùú Varadrion asks "So what is this for?"

øùú Cyria asks, "Even if he warned you, would you have believed him?"

øùú Isondil nods

øùú Ariea grins at Varadrion, 'This is a hidden Gnome base, duh Varadrion.'

øùú Rue 's eyes glitter in sheer delight as she walks near the gardens, taking in the beauty of every plant.

øùú Varadrion replies "Obviously" and turns to Shandor "Why, are we here?"

<@Narrator> One of the gnomes cautiously approaches the group, 'Hello there.'

øùú Saam laughs. 'Probably not Cyria'.

øùú Shandor smiles, 'To talk to these guys.'

øùú Tengu says, astonished, "Like an old legend..."

øùú Faelnon bows humbly before stating, 'We understand the truth.'

øùú Rue shakes herself out of her stupor and rejoins the group, studying the approaching gnome.

øùú Isondil bows and say's 'Hello'

<@Narrator> The gnome chuckles a bit, 'Surely you cannot understand all truth? In any case, I already know who you are. You seven-' He points to Shandor, Faelnon, Ariea, the dwarves (Thinn and Totil are staring blankly from their cabin) and looks briefly for someone else before giving up, 'Are the last living members of the Order of Cothin-Cal. And you-' he points to the rest of the group, 'Are the group trying to stop the End.'

øùú Saam stands behind Varadrion suddenly liking the man’s untrusting nature and the big sword he happens to own.

øùú Shandor is slightly taken aback by the gnome's first statement.

øùú Ariea squeaks, 'Last living...?'

<@Narrator> The gnome bows his head in sadness, 'Yes. The Order's building in A'lure was destroyed by one of the Beasts. The remaining members in Tildruin were caught and... executed.'

øùú Ariea says, 'But how did they find Foilae?'

øùú Isondil shudders

øùú Rue bites her lip.

<@Narrator> The gnome looks confused, 'You mean he isn't with you? Oh, he is still alive then.'

<@Narrator> 'This is the last safe location of the gnomes. But here is not the place, please, come with us, we will discuss matters elsewhere. On such a lovely day, I think the gardens are a good place to converse.'

<@Narrator> The gnome turns towards the manor building and heads towards one of the extensions, there are archways running along the bottom section of the walls.

øùú Varadrion turns and looks at Saam, raises an eyebrow, and then follows the gnome

øùú Shandor follows eagerly, but his head is clouded by memories of the Order's members.

øùú Saam follows Varadrion closely.

øùú Isondil follows Saam yawning slowly

øùú Tengu follows at the end of the procession.

<@Narrator> The pink-garden is full of children who are running about, giggling and playing with ribbons and gnome toys.

<@Narrator> The gnome points at a row of benches that rest on the gravel pathways between the different gardens.

øùú Shandor takes a seat.

øùú Ariea wanders about the pink-garden, smelling the overwhelming entanglement of scents.

øùú Saam hand delves into the folds of his black clock, bringing the measly concealed dagger within closer reach as he sits down

øùú Tengu sits on a bench, ears open to any knowledge.

øùú Faelnon takes a seat quietly while trying to identify the plants, but failing.

øùú Varadrion stands at the end of the row

øùú Rue gasps as she is nearly knocked over by a child, but then giggles quietly as the child runs away.

øùú Maifln says, 'I'm afraid I haven't introduced myself, I am Maifln, leader of this settlement.'

øùú Isondil looks at the plants and smells one before sitting down on the edge of the bench

øùú Varadrion looks around at the children running around and looks saddened

øùú Rue sits on a bench and looks at Maifln.

øùú Varadrion says to no-one in particular "It must be difficult to grow up in times like these"

øùú Ariea returns to the group, choosing to stand behind one of the benches.

øùú Saam handles the dagger feeling more comforttable. He may not be afraid of humans elves and the rest as they can only kill you. Who knows what magically appearing gnomes can do.

øùú Maifln says, 'The children hardly realise what is going on. Most are too young to understand.'

øùú Rue draws a knee to her chest, resting her arms on top of it.

øùú Varadrion looks only slightly relieved "Then they are lucky"

øùú Tengu looks at kids and gardens surrounding him, "Why were you hiding in such a.. strange manner?"

øùú Isondil yawns again before taking out his bow and polishing it absentmindedly

øùú Maifln says, 'I can explain that, and a few other things, if you will listen for a few minutes.'

øùú Shandor nods, 'Of course.'

øùú Tengu nods humbly.

øùú Rue stares at Maifln attentively.

øùú Isondil nods

øùú Varadrion crosses his arms in front of him and looks silently at Maifln

øùú Maifln begins, 'This is a long tale to tell, feel free to ask questions, but please, after I finish telling.'

øùú Maifln says, 'I am the leader of this, the last settlement of the Gnomes.'

øùú Shandor looks at Maifln curiously.

øùú Maifln says, 'I know what you are thinking, but the Gnomes no longer dwell on this continent, they have fled by any means possible to the homeland of the Elves. In truth, this will make them no safer, but they believe it will.'

øùú Maifln says, 'Before I confuse you any further, allow me to start at the beginning with one simple fact the Gnomes created the first dragon.'

øùú Shandor will have to tell Maifln his definition of 'simple' some time.

øùú Faelnon looks at Maifln as if his head just turned into a giant mushroom.

øùú Isondil listens intently

øùú Maifln continues, 'The first dragon was not the creature we had hoped for. Something had gone wrong, it was... evil, for lack of a better word. And so we locked it in its prison, where a giant would rule over and prevent anyone going near it - of course, the giant fell and Tildruin was formed.'

øùú Maifln says, 'This first dragon somehow spawned a child that would last indefinitely within the womb until the right time.'

øùú Saam thinks great, first mist structures and now they turn out to have created dragons.

øùú Maifln continues, 'This brush with evil left the Gnome race with one unique feature, we can feel the End. Every fibre of our bodies can feel it approaching and they scream at us to leave this area, the area where the End will begin. That is why most Gnomes have fled.'

øùú Maifln states, 'My ancestor was one of the gnomes who worked in the prison, forming it, he felt this evil. Instead of pretending this didn't happen, he studied every scroll on the End, and created a few new ones. He then formed this place, we were to live here until Signs of the End were clear, then we would try to prevent it.'

øùú Maifln says, 'Our encounter with the dragons had another bad effect. The Seven, who were dragons abandoned, left as magic, with the aid of the Original, were able to form more abilities, taking other forms. The most powerful of these was the Seventh, who I believe you have encountered.'

øùú Maifln says, trying to keep a track of what information he has giving and what is left, 'Anyway, this bad effect was that the Seven could trace the Gnomes who made the prison, down through eons, generations of gnomes.'

øùú Maifln says, 'This place began as a library of information, where one could study the End, but it turned into something very different. The founder of the prison, and his bloodline, was eliminated. This sent shockwaves throughout the builders. My ancestor then created the concealing mists and left careful instructions scattered throughout the world on how to both find and reveal this place.

øùú Maifln adds, 'He also left instructions and items through the world to find the prison.'

øùú Faelnon nods thinking about what remains of the Gifts.

øùú Isondil shakes his head

øùú Maifln quickly says, 'Don't worry about the Seven finding us now, we've restored the concealment, the chances of the Seven spotting us before we did it are infinitesimal.'

øùú Maifln pauses for a moment and tries to remember what he was talking about before he got side-lined.

øùú Maifln remembers and says, 'Ever since then we have tried to learn what we could and prepare.'

øùú Maifln sighs sadly, 'Unfortunately, you came along.' He quickly adds, 'Of course, the Original had to be stopped. And the Child had to be protected, or destroyed, but I guess you remain too humane to do such a thing.'

øùú Faelnon is confronted by the memory of his fight with the assassin, his brutal, sadistic strikes, his bloodlust. He nods slightly.

øùú Rue is taken aback by the 'unfortunately' statement.

øùú Maifln says, 'Unfortunately, you activated the Six who were imprisoned in the statuette. The Seventh on his own would not have been able to trigger the End, but with the aid of his brethren...'

øùú Shandor is suddenly tormented by a voice in his head saying, *You caused the apocalypse, well done mate.*

øùú Maifln says, 'That is the brief summary of the End. I'm sure some of you will be interested in the books we have in our library... In the meantime, come with me and I will have a tea arranged. Unless, anyone has any questions?'

øùú Rue shakes her head and stares at the ground.

øùú Tengu starts breathing again as the story ends.

øùú Ariea , after hearing all of that, decides a seat is the best option.

øùú Varadrion tries to think of a question, but remains silent

øùú Isondil thinks to himself and replaces his bow

øùú Varadrion asks "Ok, we know the world is going to end, or at least start that way, how do we stop it?”

øùú Maifln says, 'The logical way of ending it would be to kill the Seven.'

øùú Varadrion says "Yes, but we've already that somewhat difficult. Any other ideas?"

øùú Isondil says 'What led you to create a dragon in the first place?'

øùú Maifln says, 'None come to mind.'

øùú Maifln turns to Isondil, 'We thought we could create magnificent creatures, creatures of beauty.'

øùú Tengu says, "How much time is left?"

øùú Rue asks, "If you knew the dragon was evil, why not kill it and avoid what is happening now?"

øùú Maifln says, 'Miss Rue, do you remember how many people you had to kill the Original?'

øùú Varadrion says to Rue "You do remember the trouble we had killing it, right?"

øùú Rue sighs.

øùú Maifln says, 'And we thought the statuette could do no harm. We didn't foresee a mage being able to activate it.'

øùú Varadrion groans

øùú Saam states, 'So in other words what your saying is we either die trying to kill the seven or we die anyway?'

øùú Isondil shakes his head and mutters 'Instead you created something evil and by the sounds of things the majority of the gnomes are fleeing'

øùú Maifln turns to Tengu, 'We don't know exactly how much time, it all depends on the Seven's course of action.'

øùú Varadrion says "Magic, utterly stupid, causes so many problems"

øùú Rue stands.

øùú Maifln turns to Isondil, 'You cannot blame this on our brethen, most Gnomes in the world now a days have no idea why this is happening. They just feel an overwhelming desire to flee.'

øùú Isondil ignores Maifln his mind already made up

øùú Maifln turns to Saam, 'I don't believe I know of you, but no, there is always a chance we can win.'

øùú Maifln adds quietly, 'Not a very good chance, mind...'

øùú Varadrion says to Saam "We will all die eventually, might as well die for something worth fighting for"

øùú Tengu says, "I think we must spend the last days in meditations... To be prepared for the End."

øùú Rue looks over at Tengu. "You want to just...give up?"

øùú Shandor turns to Tengu.

øùú Isondil sits down fuming at Maifln

øùú Tengu shrugs, "You've said it is inevitable. So why take futile efforts?"

øùú Rue continues, raising her voice. "After all of the work we've done, you want to give up?"

øùú Varadrion walks over to Isondil and tries to calm him down

øùú Shandor says, 'Because we can Tengu, I for one would rather do something useful than just sit supping tea while the world is destroyed around us.'

øùú Saam says, 'I agree with Tengu, what honestly can we do? Poison the sevens water bowl?'

øùú Shandor says, 'Saam, you know nothing about this. We managed to beat the dragon at Viirnial.'

øùú Rue becomes livid. "We could do whatever we can! We can try to kill the seven. There IS a way to put a stop to this!"

øùú Saam 's jaw drops in surprise

øùú Tengu thinks a bit, "Well, some people prefer dying in battle, it's understandable. The choice is up to you."

øùú Varadrion looks at Saam and Tengu, and Isondil complaining from his seat and says "You'd rather go down without a fight? You want to just sit here until you die? I don't believe you all, what are you doing here if you don't believe we can do it?

øùú Shandor looks around for a sword to wave valiantly, but gives up, saying, 'I choose to fight.'

øùú Rue glares at Tengu. "Coward..." she hisses before storming off.

øùú Saam looks up at Varadrion, 'I never said I wouldn't fight.'

øùú Ariea goes after Rue to try and calm her down.

øùú Varadrion says "Well if you sit here, you can't fight."

øùú Varadrion drops his cloak on the ground and walks out of the garden

øùú Rue chooses a calm, soothing garden and sits in front of a tree, staring at the ground.

øùú Saam grins and stands up, 'I just said Tengu was right, and we're going to die.'

øùú Shandor says, 'This is going marvellously. Maifln, I'd say these gardens do quite the opposite from being a calming influence.'

øùú Tengu sighs, "One who fights the inevitable will never find harmony... But I think you wont any case."

øùú Isondil says to Maifln 'This is all the gnomes fault and you have not contacted us before this you could have saved hundreds of elves at Viirnial and among them my wife. You have done nothing while innocent people have died.'

øùú Isondil storms off

øùú Shandor turns to Saam and says sarcastically, 'Congratulations, you've won our prize. Of course we are going to die, everyone will. But if we can stop the End, infinite amounts of people can live, isn't that worth it?'

øùú Varadrion finds a quiet spot near the wall and drives his sword into the ground, and then kneels beside it.

øùú Maifln says, 'Isondil, you know nothing of what we have done.'

øùú Thor is interested by this now.

øùú Saam laughs and says, 'Who wants to find harmony, Who wants to save lives, I just want to be able to say I died fighting a dragon.' Not really thinking about the logic of it here.

øùú Faelnon stands up and paces the length of the benches for a few moments.

øùú Isondil breaks down and sits down on another bench, his head in his hands

øùú Rue looks over at the ground, still seething.

øùú Ariea stands beside Rue.

øùú Ariea says, 'Just ignore Tengu, he has odd ideas on what to do.'

øùú Rue looks up at Ariea and nods sadly.

øùú Cyria says, "I don't mind going on a suicide mission...it is out chance to save thousands of people.."

øùú Varadrion rips his sword from the ground and walks back into the garden

øùú Shandor nods to Cyria, 'Exactly. And if we do stop this, we won't just save thousands, we will have saved millions of people who haven't yet been born, we can keep this world alive.'

øùú Rue stands and kicks at a wayward rock. "Maybe...Maybe part of what he's saying is true. There's a possibility that this IS inevitable. I just...." She trails off.

øùú Ariea nods silently and stands still.

øùú Tengu says, "Either case wea are going to die. Does the way you've died matters after death? Lets give a try is your desire for it is so strong."

øùú Varadrion says "Who can be certain we will die?"

øùú Saam says, 'I can'

øùú Shandor says, 'Then you can get out.'

øùú Shandor smiles, 'Besides, just because we can die, doesn't mean we can't come back.'

øùú Tengu raises an eyebrow to Varadrion, "Are you going to live forever?"

øùú Isondil moves back towards the group and sits down quietly

øùú Shandor smiles at Tengu, 'I intend to, or die trying.'

øùú Cyria says, "If it is true, than we will just die that much sooner, either way we shall die. We should go out with a bang if we are to die"

øùú Saam says, 'We all die someday'

øùú Varadrion says "I don't know about all of you, but I want to live to be old enough to enjoy a world where we don't have to fight"

øùú Rue sighs resignedly. "I suppose we should walk back..."

øùú Ariea moves over to Isondil and sits next to him, 'Isondil, I know what it feels like to lose someone you love, but it isn't fair to blame an entire race for it. The Gnomes have been doing what they thought was best.'

øùú Saam turns to Varadrion and says, 'Would you enjoy the world if people knew you as the man who gave up?'

øùú Varadrion says angrily "If we believe we've lost, then we have, we haven't met an enemy we could not defeat"

øùú Cyria says, "You won't get that chance if you don't stop this current of evil that is flowing over the land! Your own needs are blocking your views and making you surrender before the battle has even begun!"

øùú Rue stands quietly behind the benches, shooting a quick glare at Tengu.

øùú Shandor turns to Saam, 'But he hasn't given up...'

øùú Isondil shakes his head and say's 'But why? they could have stopped all of this.'

øùú Varadrion says to Saam "I will not be remembered like that, because I will not give up"

øùú Ariea says, 'Could they? What if the Gnomes tried to defeat the Original, only, they couldn't and instead of being imprisoned, it destroys the world millennia ago. Would that have been better?'

øùú Varadrion says "What’s done is done, we cannot change the past, we have to worry about the future, one that might not exist if we don't do something to save it"

øùú Isondil say's 'Nothing but they should never have tried to create creatures. They were asking for trouble'

øùú Saam stops being excited at the prospect or killing a dragon as the reality dawns on him.

øùú Ariea says, 'From what I understand, they were trying to create a creature of elegance and beauty. Besides, you can't say you haven't done something that was very risky before...'

øùú Saam starts thinking how much damage a dagger can do to a dragon and then how close he needs to be to this dragon before he can use it.

øùú Rue takes a seat on a bench, crossing her arms.

øùú Faelnon claps loudly. 'Oh children. Can we stop the bickering?'

øùú Saam mumbles to himself, 'I need a bigger weapon.'

øùú Cyria walks out angered

øùú Varadrion picks up his cloak and puts it back on, concealing his weapons

øùú Rue looks at Faelnon and nods wholeheartedly.

øùú Shandor stands up and crosses the grass to Faelnon, he whispers something that the group cannot hear.

øùú Faelnon looks at Shandor before nodding slowly.

øùú Isondil say's 'No I can't but even still they should not have gotten into that situation. They would have saved all of us loss and suffering.'

øùú Varadrion turns to Isondil "Let it go"

øùú Shandor turns to the group, 'I believe our choice is simple, those who wish to continue with us, fighting the End, stand beside us, those who wish to wait for the End to hit them, remain at the benches.'

øùú Ariea swiftly gets up and crosses to Faelnon and Shandor.

øùú Rue is first to stand beside Shandor and Faelnon

øùú Isondil follows Ariea

øùú Tengu says, "One can direct his fate, not fight with it. But if you wish," - shrugs, - "I'll join you."

<@Rue> ooc - even though Ariea's post came first....

øùú Thor raises from his seat and moves to Shandor and Faelnon, 'Me an' Thinn an' Totil are behind ye.'

øùú Maifln stands up and crosses over to Shandor and Faelnon.

øùú Varadrion walks slowly to the group, and stands alongside

øùú Saam walks and stands beside Shandor, but asks quietly 'Can I get a bigger weapon first?'

øùú Tengu slowly stands up.

øùú Shandor says, 'Perhaps.'

øùú Isondil coughs and avoids looking at Maifln

øùú Saam doesn’t look to happy at the 'Perhaps'.

øùú Shandor looks at the empty benches, 'Well, then.'

øùú Shandor turns to Maifln, 'Now, you said you could prepare tea?'

øùú Maifln nods, 'Of course.'

øùú Faelnon asks, 'May I see the library?'

øùú Maifln nods, 'Of course, young Torldem over there will take you to it.' He points to a gnome tending one of the flower beds.

øùú Shandor says, 'I'll go with Faelnon to the library.'

øùú Ariea smiles, 'Well, I'm getting tea.'

øùú Maifln turns and heads towards a door into the main structure of the manor house. He beckons for the others to follow.

øùú Saam asks Maifln, 'Do you have any bows or throwing knifes of dragon slaying perhaps?'

øùú Rue follows Maifln.

øùú Maifln says, 'Such matters shall be discussed later.'

øùú Ariea follows Maifln.

øùú Tengu follows as if nothing happened.

øùú Isondil follows Maifln, rather reluctantly

øùú Varadrion follows last, slowly

øùú Saam interprets Maifln's answer as a no. 'Didn't think so.'

øùú Faelnon over to Torldem, 'Could you show us the library?'

<@Narrator> Torldem nods and leads Faelnon and Shandor to the library in the manor house.

øùú Varadrion turns to Saam "I'll find you some weapons"

øùú Maifln leads the group through long, thin corridors until they reach an arched oak door. He pushes against it and goes inside. The hall is abnormally tall for the people who live in it. There is a row of long, wide oak tables in the centre with chairs running down the sides.

øùú Maifln says, 'Please make yourselves comfortable, tea will be here shortly.

øùú Varadrion takes a seat at a table

øùú Saam says quietly to the group, 'Should we drink the tea from the people that created the dragons?'

øùú Ariea takes a seat and says, 'You lot of Gnomes sure do build very large places.'

øùú Isondil stands quietly

øùú Tengu sets himself comfortably, ready to drink perhaps his last cup of tea.

øùú Ariea scolds Saam, 'Oh please, grow up. It isn't as if the tea will turn us into dragons. Although, that would be pretty amazing to see.'

øùú Saam says, 'I was thinking more along the lines or poison, but turning into dragons would be a nice change from the ordinary.'

øùú Shandor and Faelnon arrive in the huge library, it spans three floors and stretches far into the distance. Shandor thinks the manor house is far too small to hold all of this inside. There are a few small tables and chairs scattered about.

øùú Rue sips her tea, a bit apart from the others, staring at the table.

øùú Ariea shakes her head in slight annoyance with Saam and takes a cup of tea.

øùú Varadrion looks at his tea, but does not drink

øùú Isondil takes nothing

øùú Cyria takes a sip of her tea

øùú Maifln arrives in the library as Faelnon makes for one of the bookcases, like a child in a candy store.

øùú Saam takes a cup.

øùú Tengu drinks his tea, trying to enjoy every sip of it.

øùú Ariea says, 'I wonder how long it took to build this place...'

øùú Shandor picks up one book, it has a ruby on its cover. Shandor brushes a finger against it and it falls off.

øùú Maifln turns to Shandor.

øùú Shandor looks at Maifln while picking up the gem, 'I'm sorry, I don't know what happened, it just fell off.'

øùú Maifln smiles, 'It is okay, you can keep it.'

øùú Shandor looks at his hand, the gem had disappeared, 'If I can find it...'

øùú Varadrion stands up and walks out the large oak doors towards the library

øùú Ariea says, 'I think I'm going to explore the grounds.'

øùú Ariea stands up and leaves, trying to find her way back outside.

øùú Rue nods, "I think I'll do the same..."

øùú Thor says, 'I'm goin' te take a look at that fort.'

øùú Isondil nods and say's ' I will also'

øùú Varadrion enters the library and looks toward Shandor and Faelnon

øùú Saam looks up from his incessant stare at the tea, to see most of the group have disappeared.

øùú Ariea walks along the grass outside the manor house. She spots the lake at the north wall and goes over to inspect.

øùú Faelnon picks up a thick book, he brings it over to one of the desks, 'Now this looks interesting...'

øùú Shandor is flipping through a journal of sorts.

øùú Shandor notices a page that talks about someone breaking a broom, being scolded by his parents and being forced to walk to the store to buy a new one, 'Er, very detailed journals you keep, Maifln.'

øùú Isondil walks over towards the lake

øùú Maifln says, 'We pride ourselves on keeping record of even the smallest detail, you never know when it could come important.'

øùú Saam puts down his tea and walks out to explore the grounds.

øùú Varadrion walks up to Shandor "Anything interesting?"

øùú Shandor nods, while thinking *Yes, we might need this five-hundred year old broom to beat away some cobwebs.*

øùú Shandor says, 'I haven't found anything useful yet, maybe Faelnon has.'

øùú Varadrion nods and walks over to Faelnon and repeats his question

øùú Rue walks along a garden inspecting the flowers, the colours seeming to have faded from their happy vibrance since they first arrived. She picks a flower and stares at it for a moment before throwing it down sadly and continuing to talk.

øùú Faelnon says, 'I think I may be onto something.'

øùú Isondil sits down on the grass beside the lake looking into it

øùú Tengu drinks the rest of the tea and leaves the dining room, not amazed with perspective of being left in phantom castle.

<@Narrator> The day passes quickly and soon it is night, the sky remains perfectly clear and one can see hundreds of speckles of light from stars. A full moon is sitting in the sky gazing down on the area.

øùú Shandor is still in the library and has barely scratched at the mass of books here.

øùú Faelnon is in the opposite side of the library, scanning through various myths and legends.

øùú Saam picks up a murdered flower and pockets it.

øùú Ariea is outside in the gardens and is amazed.

øùú Tengu sits in garden cross-legged and looks between the tree branches. Meditating, as usual.

<@Narrator> The moonlight has quite an effect on the plants. The petals of the blue flowers are glowing softly.

øùú Rue walks into the library quietly. "You're still here?" she asks to Shandor and Faelnon.

øùú Shandor yawns, 'Yep.'

øùú Varadrion sits silently and alone in one of the gardens, looking into the sky

øùú Maifln sees Ariea, 'Enjoying the garden?'

øùú Isondil looks at the flowers and manages a smile

øùú Ariea is captivated by one tree, she is standing beneath its branches and is looking up at the colours. She nods before asking, 'Why do they glow?'

øùú Rue looks around. "Anything I can do to help?"

øùú Maifln smiles and points to the statue of the man with a crescent moon above him, 'All of these plants react to the moon's light, causing the glowing. I find it hypnotic. In the day time, the garden with the sun statue lights up marvellously.'

øùú Shandor shrugs, 'If you really want to, I haven't looked at that bookcase yet.'

øùú Maifln adds, 'The middle garden symbolises dawn and dusk, during those two times-'

øùú Ariea smiles, 'Those plants are as beautiful as the blues are now.'

øùú Maifln smiles and nods.

øùú Varadrion lays on his back and stares up into the sky, a rare smile fading onto his face

øùú Ariea says, 'Maifln, would it be possible to take a few of these plants with me? My garden at home could do with a little more tranquillity.'

øùú Rue nods and pulls a random book down, flipping through the pages.

øùú Maifln smiles, 'Of course, in the morning I will get Torldem to get you some saplings. You're home is a magic shop, correct?'

øùú Ariea nods, 'Yes, although I would love to head back to A'lure some time.'

øùú Isondil just in front of Ariea and Maifln sitting on the ground looking open mouthed at the plants

øùú Maifln sighs happily, remembering his brief holiday to A'lure, 'The Elves take care of their home so beautifully. Well, you may wish to inform Shandor that the leaves of these plants do indeed have magical properties, mostly healing and illusion. You can also throw an amazing display of fireworks with them.'

øùú Rue places the book back and grabs another one. "What -exactly- are we looking for?"

øùú Shandor says, 'Anything that could come in use... legends on weapons that can hurt the Seven, things like that.'

øùú Shandor says, 'Or where they might go, how to defeat them in general.'

øùú Shandor grins, 'How to use a five-hundred year old broom to your advantage.' He realises no-one else had read the journal.

øùú Ariea nods and returns her gaze to the leaves, saying, 'Thank you.

øùú Maifln adds, 'I have arranged rooms for all of you, just ask one of the Gnomes where they are.'

øùú Isondil stands up and walks towards Ariea and Maifln

øùú Maifln says, 'If you'll excuse me, I'm heading to the library to see what damage your husband has done to the book order.'

øùú Ariea smiles, 'Bye.'

øùú Varadrion closes his eyes and says the gnome closest to him "I think I will spend the night here, if its not a problem"

øùú Thor has already found his room and is snoring loudly.

øùú Isondil looks at Maifln coldly

øùú Ariea looks as Maifln goes and decides to go to the library as well.

øùú Maifln finds Faelnon and goes over to see what he is doing.

øùú Rue sighs, puts this book back and takes another.

øùú Faelnon asks Maifln, 'Will it be possible to take some of these books with us? We can't stay here forever, but some of these texts are fascinating.'

øùú Rue takes a seat at a table and continues to flip through the pages, beginning to get sleepy.

øùú Maifln says, 'These books have remained within this library for millennia.' He sighs deeply, 'However, of course you can take them, they will do you more good.'

øùú Ariea arrives and the library and grabs Shandor by the arm, 'You have to see the garden, it is beautiful.'

øùú Shandor says, 'I'm still working...'

øùú Rue 's head droops down slightly and she yawns as she turns the pages.

øùú Ariea doesn't think highly of that excuse, 'Pfft, you've been in the library for four, five hours? You need a break. And coming out to the garden is not voluntary.'

øùú Shandor cocks an eyebrow at Ariea before resigning and setting the book back on its shelf, 'Okay.'

øùú Isondil continues walking around the garden which seems to have a calming effect

øùú Shandor says to Rue, 'You can get some sleep, the library will still be here in the morning.'

øùú Rue shakes her head. "With my luck, I'll be two pages away from actual information." She laughs.

øùú Shandor smiles.

øùú Ariea continues to drag Shandor away from the library and the two end up in the garden.

øùú Varadrion takes on final look at the stars, and drifts off to sleep happy.

øùú Shandor looks at the glowing garden, 'Wow.' He whispers simply.

øùú Shandor walks along a flower bed.

øùú Rue 's head hits the book. "Maybe I'll just rest my head here for a second..."

øùú Ariea says, 'I'm getting a couple to bring back home. They are great.'

øùú Tengu decides the garden are too crowded for solitude and departs to find his room.

øùú Faelnon smiles at Rue having fallen asleep, he continues working though.

øùú Isondil sees Shandor and Ariea and smiles at them and say's 'beautiful isn't it? But I 'm off to bed'

øùú Shandor nods to Isondil before turning to Ariea, 'You should get some sleep, I'm going back to the library for a bit longer.

øùú Rue moves her head slightly to the side as she sleeps, fanning her hair out over the pages of the book.

<@Narrator> In such a blissful place, the sands of time seem to slip through one's hand quicker than normal. In what seems like minutes, the sun is rising again. Dawn leaves the middle garden looking suitably breath-taking while the group are asleep.

øùú Saam walk to the wall of the garden and sits down to sleep

øùú Shandor heads out of the main entrance hall, eating an apple while reading one of the books that still are in the library.

øùú Ariea is back in the 'train sorting out her new plants.

øùú Faelnon is in the fort examining the armour and weaponry that is stowed there.

øùú Thor is on the other side of the fort from Faelnon talking to Totil and Thinn.

øùú Varadrion opens his eyes slowly and looks around

øùú Rue is still asleep in the library.

øùú Ariea finishes setting up the plants and returns to the manor house, she finds Shandor outside, 'Lovely day, isn't it?'

øùú Saam finally falls asleep against the walls.

øùú Varadrion walks up to Shandor and Ariea and bows

øùú Rue 's eyes flutter open slowly and she lifts her head slightly.

øùú Ariea smiles and nods at Varadrion.

øùú Shandor looks up and closes his eyes to shield them from the brightness, 'You know, I hardly noticed, I've been too busy reading through these books, some of them are very interesting.'

øùú Ariea says, 'You can't tell me that you've been reading all night?'

øùú Shandor says trying to give an impression of the library, 'The texts are enthralling, they have every detail on record. At first I thought that was boring, but some of the stuff these guys have done...'

øùú Varadrion walks inside and into the library, laughing at the newly awakened Rue

øùú Rue sighs to herself, realizing that she fell asleep while reading.

øùú Tengu walks from his room, enjoying new day and ready for futile world-saving efforts.

øùú Ariea says, 'Come on, we don't get many days like this, why don't we just enjoy it?'

øùú Faelnon has worked through several bookcases, although, he got distracted by reading a novel.

øùú Varadrion looks at Rue and asks "Rough night?"

øùú Isondil makes his way towards the train and say's 'Good morning' to Ariea and Shandor

øùú Rue laughs.

øùú Faelnon thus feels he deserves a break.

øùú Faelnon picks up a short sword to examine it.

øùú Rue flips forward a page or two.

øùú Rue turns around in her chair. "Faelnon?"

øùú Shandor returns to the library just in time to run into Rue.

øùú Shandor says, 'I left my ring up here...'

øùú Shandor says, 'Have you seen it?'

øùú Rue shakes her head. "But I may have found something else..."

øùú Rue points to the page she was looking at.

øùú Shandor looks at the page, he reads it before nodding, 'Hmm, yes. That does explain a bit.'

øùú Ariea sits on the steps leading to the main entrance hall waiting for Shandor return.

øùú Rue smirks. "I told you I'd fall asleep a page or two before I'd find information."

øùú Shandor grins.

øùú Shandor says, 'Good job.'

øùú Shandor looks around the bookcase he was searching before he finds the ring tucked in between two books. 'There we go.'

øùú Shandor says to Rue as he leaves, 'I'm being forced to have fun and enjoy this day, apparently.'

øùú Rue nods. "I'll keep reading."

øùú Shandor stops and turns back, 'You found something important, you deserve a break, you should come with us.'

øùú Rue shuts the book and stands, stretching. "Good idea..."

øùú Rue follows Shandor.

øùú Shandor heads out to the front, 'We've returned.'

øùú Ariea grins, 'Good, now come with me, they have this great, small, lake at one of the walls, you should see it, oh and the fish! I've never seen them before they are so beautiful, they have all these glowing patterns on them, some'll come right up to the surface when you are nearby.' She grabs his hand and begins dragging him to it, 'Come on.'

øùú Isondil moves out of his cabin carrying a large circular board and his bow along with his quiver

øùú Shandor is dragged, but decides not to drag Rue as the scene could get pedantic.

øùú Rue waves to Shandor. "Have a good time," she jokes.

øùú Tengu is walking in the gardens when he barely not trips over sleeping Saam.

øùú Shandor smiles, 'You should come with... there's... um... glowing fish!'

øùú Varadrion Grabs a book from the shelf and flips through the pages slowly

øùú Rue shakes her head. "I'll find something else to occupy myself with."

øùú Shandor nods.

øùú Isondil attaches the circular board to the wall on the garden wall

øùú Tengu mutters, "Bad dreams perhaps..."

øùú Tengu says, "Good morning, Saam! Hope you slept well?"

øùú Shandor arrives at the lake.

øùú Saam stammers, 'Yeah... '

øùú Shandor watches as a school of glowing fish swim up to the surface and then disappear underneath again.

øùú Shandor smiles.

øùú Ariea smiles, 'Beautiful, aren't they?'

øùú Isondil sees Tengu and Saam and calls out 'Hi there Saam, would you like to learn how to use a bow as you where looking for a weapon?'

øùú Saam yells bye to Tengu as he runs towards Isondil

øùú Shandor watches a fish that has golden patterns dart about, just beneath the surface.

øùú Isondil produces another long bow and waits to hand it to Saam

øùú Rue stares up at the sky as she strolls through another garden.

øùú Ariea sits down at the edge of the lake.

øùú Shandor joins Ariea and taps the still lake with the heel of the boot sending tiny ripples through it.

øùú Saam takes the bow handling it careful and awaits instruction

øùú Isondil looks at Saam and say's 'Have you any experience with bow's?'

øùú Saam says not much

øùú Varadrion finds Maifln and asks him "Do you have any training facilities?"

øùú Maifln nods, 'There are some dummies and sparring partners in the fort.'

øùú Isondil hands Saam and arrow and says 'Show me what you can do' and points to the board.

øùú Tengu looks at people training and tries to remember the last time he was exercising.

øùú Saam nocks the arrow to the string and lets fly.

øùú Varadrion walks off and after a short search finds the sparring partners and dummies

øùú Isondil watches the flight of the arrow

øùú Tengu finds a secluded place in the garden and starts remembering the basics he was taught.

øùú Varadrion drops his cloak and all his weapons, and searches for a sparring partner

øùú Isondil sees as it hit's the edge of the board and say's 'Not bad'

øùú Isondil says 'But watch what I do' and takes an arrow and let's it fly towards the board

øùú Saam mumbles a thanks.

øùú Tengu puts the staff on the ground, closes his eyes and starts breathers.

øùú Isondil watches as the arrow hit's the centre of the board and stands back

<@Narrator> A tall, well-built gnome steps towards Varadrion, ready to spar.

øùú Saam watching the arrow fly straighter and faster than his.

øùú Saam says simply, 'wow'.

øùú Rue sits atop a wall overlooking a small pond, thinking that it's curious that the group has not encountered chaos yet.

øùú Tengu 's breath slows to the point when it is barely noticeable.

øùú Isondil say's 'Did you see the way I stood? Now you try. '

øùú Varadrion assumes a fighting stance

øùú Saam tries again, mimicking Isondil stance.

øùú Saam releases the arrow.

øùú Maifln finds Shandor and Ariea by the lake.

øùú Isondil me watches the flight of the arrow

øùú Tengu suddenly tosses the stuff with his toe right into the hands.

øùú Shandor smiles at Maifln, 'Hi.'

øùú Varadrion circles with the gnome as both prepare to fight

øùú Ariea asks, 'Is every day as beautiful as this?'

øùú Maifln grins, 'It is one of the enchantments we put on this place when it was built.'

øùú Tengu tries a basic moves with eyes closed.

øùú Isondil smiles as the arrow hit's just above his and say's 'Brilliant!'

øùú Shandor smiles before saying, 'I hope you don't mind a few questions, but I'm rather curious. Why are those towers all different shapes and styles?'

øùú Tengu stops, remembering something, opens his eyes and makes sure no one is around.

øùú Varadrion steps up to the dwarf and kicks at him, hitting nothing but air, as the gnome counters with a sweep kick, sending Varadrion to the ground

øùú Isondil hands Saam a quiver of arrows and say's 'Now continue practising until you refine your skill.'

øùú Maifln says, 'It has become tradition that every hundred years, we will build another tower onto the manor house. Of course, we have only been doing it for the last few hundred years.'

øùú Saam smiles happily, surprised at the way you hold your body changes the flight of the arrow

øùú Varadrion rolls away from a kick by the gnome and jumps back up to his feet, smiling

øùú Saam takes the quiver and practises.

øùú Tengu closes the eyes again, satisfied.

øùú Maifln leaves the two elves and heads into one of the newer towers to his office.

øùú Isondil observes Saam Closely occasionally correcting his stance

øùú Varadrion and the gnome continue to spar for a short time more, having quite a fair fight.

øùú Shandor closes his eyes and rubs the side of his head in apparent pain.

øùú Ariea looks at Shandor, 'Are you okay?'

øùú Shandor 's face contorts with pain for a few moments before he regains control of his senses, 'Run.'

øùú Ariea asks, 'What?'

øùú Shandor looks towards the sky before saying calmly, 'Just run.'

øùú Shandor stands up with Ariea still looking baffled.

øùú Shandor takes off at a sprint towards the manor house, catching Ariea by the arm as he goes.

øùú Shandor reaches the nearest door and shoves it open. After he and Ariea are in he slams it shut. It is the kitchen entrance. He runs through the kitchen and into the corridor.

øùú Rue is staring at the pond when she sees Shandor and Ariea run past.

øùú Shandor enters a store room and stops.

øùú Rue stares at the spot where they were for a moment, shaking her head.

øùú Ariea asks, 'Alright, what's going on?'

øùú Shandor says, 'I need a few minutes to prepare...'

øùú Ariea rolls her eyes, realising the futileness of asking him anything more.

øùú Maifln is in his small office in one of the towers. He watches as his tea cup shakes and falls off the desk, shattering on the marble floor. 'May the gods have mercy on us-'

øùú Shandor states, sitting cross-legged in the storeroom preparing a spell, 'They've found us.'

øùú Isondil stops Saam and say's 'Now you must keep your bow in good condition as it will affect your aim.'

øùú Tengu hears the noise and stops fighting his shadow.

<@Narrator> The entire area shudders from something very large moving extremely quickly very close.

øùú Saam looks at the sky and states, 'I'm going to have to get a lot better fast aren't I?'

øùú Shandor manages to remember the spell. It is the same spell he has used before for contacting everyone in a given range telepathically, although, he isn't sure how long he can sustain it. 'Everyone, this is very important. Hide. Stay out of sight of the main yard. If we are seen, we will die.'

øùú Varadrion looks up to the sky with a worried look on his face

øùú Rue is thrown off the wall by the shaking.

øùú Rue stands and is shocked by Shandor's voice.

øùú Faelnon hears the message, he peers out of the door of the fort. Nothing in the main yard, yet at any rate. He closes the gate, bolts it and then orders everyone quiet and to stay away from any windows or doors.

øùú Isondil catches Saam and say's 'This doesn't look good, my advice RUN!'

øùú Ariea is in one of the tower stairwells, she creeps up to the next room, it is Maifln's office.

øùú Saam looks at Isondil before running towards the lake and jumping in to hide.

øùú Maifln has ducked down behind his desk so he cannot be seen through the windows.

øùú Rue hurries into the nearest building - the library.

øùú Varadrion hears the voice in his head and bolts towards the library

øùú Tengu doesn’t question the origin of the voice and does as suggested for his life.

øùú Thor grabs his axe, 'Aw Tarkna..'

øùú Maifln waves at Ariea to get out of sight.

øùú Rue hides between two bookcases, her heart racing.

øùú Ariea nods and ducks down a couple of steps.

øùú Isondil runs towards the nearest building which also happens to be the library

øùú Varadrion dives in between two bookcases, inadvertently crashing into Rue

<@Narrator> Something heavy hits the ground, sending a shudder throughout the surrounding area.

øùú Rue let out a small cry as she topples over, both due to Varadrion and the shaking.

øùú Maifln feels the beast's presence and is trying to stop himself from moving a muscle.

øùú Varadrion looks at Rue and apologises quickly

øùú Saam tries not to be seen as he comes up for air realising the stupid hiding place he chose.

øùú Isondil looks back to see if he can see anything

<@Narrator> The creature lifts its head to one of the towers. It peers through the window. It knows who's tower this is instantly. It sniffs the air before bellowing. The window shudders and shatters.

øùú Varadrion crawls on the ground and peeks out the window into the yard

øùú Ariea clamps her hands over her ears to stop the sound.

øùú Rue covers her head as books topple from the bookcases.

øùú Saam nocks an arrow in the water just in case.

øùú Maifln is shivering from fear now as shards of glass scatter themselves over him.

øùú Varadrion crawls back and grabs rue by the arm, yanking her away from the falling bookcases

<@Narrator> The creature leaves the tower alone and lies down on the main yard.

øùú Isondil sees Varadrion and Rue and motions to them to come with him

øùú Maifln creeps from his desk into the tower stairwell.

øùú Ariea sees Maifln and leads him down the stairs.

øùú Varadrion looks at Isondil and shakes his head, preferring to watch out the window

øùú Shandor opens the door slowly and steps out into the corridor, he takes half a second to wonder why he knew the dragon was approaching.

øùú Rue stares out of the window, her eyes wide in horror.

øùú Ariea enters one of the front rooms, she ducks down, out of sight.

<@Narrator> A little girl who was playing in the entrance hall has obviously missed any of the other gnomes. She skips outside, down the front steps. She pauses as she sees the creature ahead. Being so young, she doesn't feel the innate fear her family does. She edges closer to it out of natural curiosity.

<@Narrator> The creature suddenly notices the presence of the girl, it turns its head towards her.

øùú Rue covers her mouth as she sees the little girl approaching the dragon.

øùú Ariea moves the curtain aside a sliver and looks out on the ground, 'Oh gods no.' She whispers, 'Please, get out of there, please just run.'

<@Narrator> The girl looks at the creature's head. The dragon moves itself around so its body is facing the manor house.

øùú Varadrion looks out the window at the girl and stands up slowly

<@Narrator> The girl waves at the creature, still unafraid, 'Hi there.' She says, voice beaming with innocence. The dragon seems unaware as it releases a cloud of flame over the area.

øùú Ariea falls to the ground, 'No, please no.'

øùú Isondil lowers his head

øùú Saam rises out of the water and fires his arrow hoping to distract it long enough for someone to get the girl.

øùú Faelnon looks away from the sight.

øùú Rue looks over at Varadrion with wide eyes as the girl is apparently decimated by the flames. She lets out a small whimper and her legs seemingly give out, causing her to sit on the floor

øùú Saam realises its too late

øùú Varadrion ducks under the window and looks at Rue, eyes filled with rage, and he draws his sword

øùú Maifln closes his eyes, unbelieving.

øùú Faelnon grabs a sword from one of the stalls, he unbolts the door and swings it open, 'Attack.' He mutters simply.

øùú Faelnon begins charging down the stairs.

øùú Varadrion jumps over the ledge and into the yard, staring at the dragon

øùú Rue shakes her head, stands, and draws her sword as well, and motions for Isondil to do the same.

øùú Tengu looks at the scene from the door opening, the flames that engulfed the yard reflected in his eyes.

øùú Isondil takes aim and sends an arrow towards the eye of the creature

øùú Thor roars wildly and sprints down the stairs, axe swinging in the air.

<@Narrator> The dragon sees the attack from the fort. It swings its tail and obliterates the bridge and digs a large section of the mound out.

øùú Rue follows Varadrion's lead, leaping from the window to the yard.

øùú Varadrion lets out a loud cry and charges the dragon, sword leading

øùú Faelnon ducks down on the stairs as fragments of the bridge fly everywhere. He hollers a retreat and begins back up the stairs, he looks at the dragon to note that it has a scar along its stomach. 'It is the Seventh.' He reports.

øùú Saam fire another arrow hoping this one will have more effect

<@Narrator> The dragon turns itself towards the fort. Its claws rip apart some of the mound, filling in the moat. It continues up and destroys a section of wall.

øùú Rue hears Faelnon's "retreat" order and heads up the stairs after him reluctantly.

øùú Varadrion jumps onto the back of the dragon and stabs at him with his sword

øùú Isondil aims at the seventh's scar and sends an arrow towards it

<@Narrator> The dragon seems rather amused at Varadrion's attempt to hurt him. He swings his neck wildly, shaking Varadrion off.

øùú Varadrion crashes to the ground and looks at the dragon

øùú Saam holds back the rest of his arrow afraid of hitting Varadrion

øùú Tengu takes a firmer grip of his weapon, but sees no sense in attacking the beast, so he retreat with the others

øùú Faelnon grabs Thor and any Gnome he can find and leads them up a steep stair case into the small tower attached to the side of the fort.

<@Narrator> The dragon seems like it is chuckling as its head goes backwards. It comes down with waves of flame that engulf the inside of the fort. Satisfied, for now, it turns back to the manor house, but not before igniting the ground in between the two buildings.

øùú Isondil rushes out of the library towards the train

øùú Ariea crawls back into the stairwell of the tower, sickened.

øùú Saam seeing the dragon on the move ducks back in the water.

øùú Rue 's eyes widen as fire climbs up the stairs after her.

øùú Ariea runs out of the tower to get across to the manor house, she is at the edge of the gardens.

<@Narrator> The dragon charges, head first, through the wall-structure into the gardens. This knocks into a tower which fractures and tumbles to the ground, sending waves of dust into the garden. Waves of fire follow the dust igniting the gardens.

øùú Ariea looks at the burning fires.

øùú Rue picks up the speed and throws open a door, running into the small tower and slamming the door behind her.

øùú Maifln sees the fires, 'We have to get across.'

øùú Shandor , who had been going through the manor house grabbing anyone he found, sees the two from a window. He acts as quickly as possible and manages to complete a simple spell that will change the weather for a few minutes. The sky clouds over quickly with a thick, dark, covering. It begins to thunder down with surprising force.

øùú Isondil reaches the train and rushes into his cabin and gets his extra quivers of arrows

øùú Varadrion gets back up and jumps onto the back of the dragon once again, taking a tighter grip this time

øùú Rue looks at Faelnon. "How are we going to get out of here? The stairs are on fire..."

øùú Faelnon thinks for a moment then feels the rain, 'I guess we run down them...'

øùú Ariea takes off into the gardens, running as fast as possible.

øùú Rue smirks despite herself. "I guess that would be our only choice..."

øùú Thor grabs a tray from the tower and tries using it to glide down the steps.

øùú Faelnon breathes deeply before sprinting down the stairs trying to ignore the heat.

<@Narrator> The dragon swings a tail into a stretch of wall, knocking it down over the night-garden, also collapsing another tower.

øùú Ariea sprints as she feels the burning heat from the fire and the water hit her face all at once.

øùú Rue turns and stares at the fire nervously. She watches Faelnon race down the stairs and follows after quickly, eyes closed, biting her lip to dull whatever pain may occur.

øùú Isondil hides in the moon crescent garden

øùú Shandor reaches the door to the manor house and hauls it open.

øùú Varadrion runs the blade of his sword across his arm, and it begins to glow softly, and then brighter and deeper

øùú Shandor smiles at Ariea, 'Thought I'd help.'

øùú Ariea just sprints past him into the corridor.

øùú Maifln dashes through and collapses on the floor.

øùú Tengu notices the moisture dripping from the sky at tries his chance, running straight through the flames.

øùú Shandor slams the door shut.

øùú Varadrion raises his sword and drives it into the dragon, expecting it to penetrate the hide, but it doesn't, it just bounces off

øùú Varadrion looks worried and curses loudly in elven

øùú Varadrion sheathes his sword and prepares to get tossed

<@Narrator> The dragon remembers that Varadrion is trying to hurt it. It half-rolls into a wall, back first.

<@Narrator> The dragon leaves the burning gardens and takes to randomly striking the main structure.

øùú Isondil cowers under the statue

øùú Varadrion falls to the base of the wall limp

øùú Faelnon is running across the grass, but he doesn't know where to.

øùú Shandor says, 'Maifln, way out, need one.'

øùú Saam sees Varadrion fall and lets fly another arrow.

øùú Rue pauses, leaning against a wall to catch her breath.

øùú Maifln says, 'There is a tunnel in the main hall, it leads a few miles out.'

øùú Shandor says, 'There's only one corridor left intact to the main hall, and it is a long trek. Let's get moving.'

øùú Isondil moves towards Varadrion and lifts him up

øùú Ariea says, 'I think I saw Isondil outside, we should wait.’

øùú Tengu runs through the smoke clouds, hiding behind ruins.

øùú Shandor kicks the door open and spots Varadrion and Isondil.

øùú Shandor runs over and helps Isondil get Varadrion to the door.

øùú Tengu runs to the rest of the group, stopping to give a glance at the creature.

øùú Shandor shouts, 'Okay, lets go.'

øùú Rue is still aimlessly following Faelnon, having no clue where she is.

<@Narrator> The dragon, meanwhile, turns to the people fleeing the fort, it seems quite amused by igniting the path they are going in, then waiting for them to turn to a different path before igniting that, too.

øùú Saam fires another arrow while running not really hoping to hit.

øùú Shandor runs along the corridors as fast as possible.

øùú Ariea follows, hearing the dragon outside.

øùú Maifln sees one of his dead friends, he stops still. Ariea grabs him by the arm and drags him along.

øùú Ariea says, 'I'm sorry Maifln, but we can't. We don't have time.'

øùú Maifln nods in understanding and resumes his run.

øùú Saam starts to think it was a bad idea leaving the pond as he gets closer to the main hall...and the dragon.

øùú Tengu sprints through the corridor after Shandor.

øùú Varadrion wakes up and rubs his head "What in Tarkna..." Before remembering where he is and trying to regain his balance

øùú Shandor sees the staircase down into the main hall. 'Go, hurry!'

<@Narrator> There is a dreadful noise as something crashes through the area, destroying the staircase down and the near by area. There are only tiny remnants of a path to the stairwell, the way up remains traversable, the creature struck from an angle.

øùú Varadrion begins to run towards Shandor, still unbalanced from the rather large bump to the head he received as he was slammed into the wall

<@Narrator> Another claw strikes from behind the group, trapping them.

øùú Saam runs towards the main hall and quickly turns the other way as the dragon suddenly moves.

øùú Shandor hollers, 'Go up, it is our only option.'

øùú Tengu says, "Maybe I won't happen to say it later, but - you were a great group. I'll miss you."

øùú Ariea nods and sprints up the twisting steps.

øùú Varadrion stops as the staircase is destroyed, and follows the group up

øùú Saam runs towards the fort group hoping for some protection

øùú Faelnon looks at the dragon, 'We need to distract him...'

øùú Rue looks at Faelnon. "How? Attacking it?"

øùú Tengu runs up the steps.

øùú Rue laughs. "It's not like we could actually attack the dragon, I mean..." she laughs.

øùú Faelnon says, 'I was thinking of insulting its mother.'

øùú Shandor continues up the steps as quickly as possible.

øùú Rue blinks at Faelnon.

øùú Saam finally meets with the fort group panting and puffing and sopping wet.

øùú Rue draws her sword. "Well, it'll kill us, or it'll kill them. Since there's more of them, though..."

øùú Faelnon can't help but grin despite the situation, he shouts at the dragon, 'Hey! Yellow-belly! Oh... er, your stomach is actually yellow... well, never mind then.'

øùú Varadrion stumbles while running to Shandor and trips, falling at his feet

øùú Rue giggles, clutching her sword tightly. "Whenever you're ready."

øùú Varadrion looks up at Shandor "Err.. hi?"

<@Narrator> The dragon does actually notice some vague noise from Faelnon. It turns to have a look at them.

øùú Rue looks over at Faelnon and takes a deep breath.

øùú Faelnon says, 'Okay, now we can run.'

øùú Rue puts away her sword and takes off running.

øùú Shandor reaches the top of the stairs.

øùú Varadrion follows Shandor to the top

<@Narrator> The top room is a bedroom, but it has been turned into a store room. It has large windows on three of the walls. One of which faces the near tower on the other side of the structure.

øùú Shandor runs blindly into a box which fractures, spilling cups over the floor.

øùú Rue turns around to see if the dragon is following them or just looking at them.

<@Narrator> The rain stops and the fire between the two buildings continues to rage.

øùú Varadrion trips over Shandor and falls into another box

øùú Shandor turns to Maifln, 'I need another way down.'

øùú Maifln thinks for a moment, 'Okay, there is a rumour that a second entrance to the escape tunnel was built in the tower closest to the entrance hall, however, it either caved in or wasn't used for hundreds of years and was sealed up...'

øùú Rue trips over a wet patch of grass, landing face first in a thorny bush.

øùú Shandor shrugs, 'It is our best bet, which one is the closest to the entrance hall?'

øùú Rue picks herself up out of the bush and removes the thorns from her arms.

øùú Faelnon stops briefly to help Rue up

øùú Maifln goes to one of the windows and points to the tower.

øùú Rue shakes the remnants of the bush out of her hair and continues to run.

øùú Shandor looks at it, 'The best bet over there would be a rope...'

øùú Varadrion follows Shandor and Maifln

øùú Ariea cracks open a few of the boxes, after discarding various kitchen utensils, she comes across a grappling hook, with rope, 'Found one, although, it looks very old, it might snap.'

<@Narrator> A few of the gnomes who have survived are in the room with the group looking quite terrified.

øùú Shandor says, 'Better than nothing.'

øùú Shandor takes the rope and then says, 'Anyone think they can get this into the room opposite?'

øùú Varadrion looks at the old rope, then at Shandor, and says "Guess I'm going first?"

øùú Shandor opens the window, takes careful aim and manages to get the grappling hook into the other room.

<@Narrator> .me says, 'The lake! It goes under the wall and into the forest, we can swim underneath.'

øùú Faelnon says, 'The lake! It goes under the wall and into the forest, we can swim underneath.'

øùú Shandor says, 'Maifln, after you.'

øùú Maifln sighs, 'Arguing over who goes first is not the best thing I can do right now.' He climbs onto the window ledge and grips hold of the rope. Carefully, he begins to climb along it.

øùú Rue looks at Faelnon, then turns to look at where the others are. "But..."

øùú Rue sighs. "OK, let's go."

øùú Shandor says, 'Ariea, you next.'

øùú Ariea begins to object, 'But-'

øùú Shandor interrupts, 'Go, please.'

øùú Tengu looks at Maifln's climbing.

øùú Ariea nods solemnly and grabs the rope, following Maifln.

øùú Saam sighs as he follows Faelnon. Thinking all the way back to the lake

øùú Shandor says, 'While I would like to only go one person at a time, we really don't have the time, so get going.'

<@Narrator> The dragon tears through one of the compound's perimeter walls. It looks inside and engulfs it in flame.

<@Narrator> A gnome speaks up, 'There is a grate in the lake, you won't be able to squeeze through it, the controls are in that wall.' She says, pointing to the wall that is being attacked.

<@Narrator> Some of the Gnomes who are with the tower-group stop, 'No, you go now, you are more important, go.'

øùú Rue stops at the lake's edge and then turns to look at the wall.

øùú Shandor tries to object, but is shoved towards the rope by one of them.

øùú Shandor climbs onto the rope.

øùú Rue turns to the gnome. "How do I get to them?"

øùú Varadrion sends a couple of gnomes ahead of him

øùú Faelnon says, 'We need a distraction to take the dragon away from roasting the wall...'

øùú Rue points to a small pebble hopefully.

<@Narrator> The dragon has gotten very bored of the fort-group, so goes to see what the others are up to. It seems both impressed and amused to watch these ant-like creatures crossing the rope. It sends a small jet of flame into the rope, burning through it instantly. It also catches one of the gnomes, who screams and plummets from the tower to the roof of the building beneath.

øùú Ariea looks back at the rope to see it disappear.

øùú Saam is glad Rue pointed to the pebble rather than himself.

<@Narrator> Half of the rope, with some of the group on it, falls through the air and smashes into the side of the second tower.

øùú Rue watches the dragon turn, and quickly turns to the gnome. "OK, how can I get to the controls now"

øùú Ariea says to Maifln, 'Make sure that grappling hook stays where it is.'

<@Narrator> A gnome says to Rue, 'The dragon has created a hole, if you can get into it...'

øùú Rue nods to the gnome. "Wish me luck?" she jokes as she runs to the wall.

øùú Faelnon says, 'And there is our distraction.' Looking at the dragon hoping the others are okay.

øùú Shandor hollers upwards, 'Help me!'

øùú Tengu looks at the burnt rope as if he foresaw it.

øùú Ariea runs to the window and sees Shandor dangling from the rope. She tries to haul him up.

øùú Rue stares at the still burning hole in the wall apprehensively before leaping through it, effectively catching her tunic on fire.

øùú Rue beats out the fire on her tunic, cursing.

øùú Faelnon whispers, 'Good luck Rue.'

øùú Varadrion is still on the first tower with some of the other gnomes. He looks across to the group, unable to do anything.

øùú Rue looks around for the switch while muttering, "Of COURSE I catch fire on the day I'm wearing my favourite tunic..."

øùú Tengu says, "Another way is sealed."

øùú Varadrion looks at Tengu "We are in deep trouble"

øùú Saam doesn’t know whether to follow Rue's lead or offer himself to the dragon now.

<@Narrator> The dragon thinks it is too fun watching the group dangle from the rope to destroy the second tower, so instead, it shoves against the top half of the original tower with its claw. The tower snaps like a twig and falls diagonally across the roof of the main building.

øùú Tengu turns to Varadrion, "As usual."

øùú Shandor watches in horror as the tower falls.

øùú Rue sees a sort of wheel embedded in the wall and grabs onto it, pulling with all her might. The wheel, however, will not budge.

øùú Rue glares at the wheel, thinking that maybe it'll budge that way.

øùú Varadrion dives out of the tower as it hits the roof and rolls away, managing to avoid the gaping hole

øùú Tengu ducks as building starts collapsing.

<@Narrator> The tower hits the roof and begins to crumble and it goes straight through the tiles, through the attic and into the entrance hall. The glass of the windows shatters instantly as it falls. The fall tears chunks out of the walls. Clouds of dust fill the entrance hall as half of the collapsed tower pokes through its roof, upside down.

øùú Saam after a while seeing nothing has happened runs after rue.

øùú Rue grabs onto the top handle of the wheel and lifts herself off the ground, effectively using all of her weight to move the wheel.

øùú Saam meet up with Rue, patting the flames on his robe out.

øùú Rue spins the wheel until it stops, hoping that it activated the gate.

øùú Tengu rolls on floor, then on walls. Finally he founds himself lying on what was the ceiling.

øùú Rue turns to Saam. "I think it's open. Let's go!"

øùú Varadrion yelps as the rest of the roof under him collapses, dropping him back into the upside down tower with a thud.

øùú Rue leaps out of the hole in the wall, this time avoiding the fire, and races back to Faelnon and the gnomes.

øùú Faelnon runs towards the lake.

øùú Rue turns to look at the dragon tearing apart the tower the rest of the group is in.

øùú Rue throws a rock at the dragon and yells at it. "Hey! Hey dragon! Over here!"

øùú Varadrion rolls as the tower sits slightly inclined and lands on the floor, a secret-looking hatch sitting beside him

øùú Tengu slowly moves his limbs and stands up.

øùú Varadrion yells as loud as he can "Tengu! Lets get out of here!"

øùú Shandor climbs in the window and shouts, 'Let's go, hurry.'

øùú Maifln nods and sprints down the steps, nearly tumbling down them.

øùú Tengu says, "Okay, we need to go up... I mean down!"

øùú Varadrion lifts the hatch and dives down it

øùú Saam slightly alight runs into the lake to douse the flames.

øùú Rue chucks another rock at the dragon, hoping to draw its attention away from the group, then gives up and again runs for the lake.

øùú Faelnon grabs Rue and dives into the lake shouting, 'I think you've annoyed it quite enough.

øùú Tengu crawls after Varadrion.

øùú Varadrion rolls down the stairs, landing in a heap at the bottom

<@Narrator> The dragon does indeed look rather annoyed, it has turned towards the fort-group and is approaching menacingly.

<@Narrator> The steps end beneath the ground. Light is provided by a few torches on hooks in the walls. The floor seems to be another mini-storage area, this one holds barrels of wine.

øùú Shandor asks, 'Alright, where is the door?'

øùú Saam seeing the dragon coming towards them start swimming rather fast.

øùú Maifln begins desperately shifting the barrels for a trap door or anything.

øùú Faelnon swims furiously.

øùú Ariea pulls on the torches, after nothing happens she sighs and says, 'In books, that always works.'

øùú Shandor grabs a barrel and tries to move it, but it refuses to budge. He tries to pick it up and, exhausting a lot of energy, he manages to lift it up.

øùú Varadrion runs back up the stairs and peeks out the top, letting in any gnomes he can see, before shutting it and running back down the stairs

øùú Tengu slides down the stairs, landing on Varadrion.

<@Narrator> The barrel isn't the only thing he lifts, the bottom of the barrel is attached to surrounding stone slabs, they conceal a narrow tunnel underground.

øùú Rue swims towards the wall as fast as she can.

øùú Varadrion tumbles with Tengu to the bottom of the stairs, and lands in a heap at the bottom (again)

øùú Faelnon swims under the wall and starts towards the surface of the lake on the other side.

øùú Shandor asks, grabbing one of the torches, 'What happens if you need another barrel of wine upstairs?'

øùú Saam swim just behind Rue choking on her surf.

øùú Maifln looks rather surprised at the barrel before stating, 'We've never been that low on wine.'

øùú Maifln leads the way down. Soon, the narrow tunnel leads into a much wider, but quite shallow, tunnel. 'Okay, this is it.'

øùú Rue swims after Faelnon, under the wall, and then emerges on the surface.

øùú Varadrion looks at Tengu and says "What do you say we stay here for a bit?"

øùú Shandor follows Maifln down after Ariea.

øùú Faelnon gasps for air and reaches the shore. Without a moment to loose, he gets to his feet and jogs into the forest.

øùú Tengu says, "No, this place looks uninviting in a recent times."

øùú Rue fights her way to the shore and stands, panting.

øùú Ariea shouts down the tunnel, 'Is anyone else here?' It echoes further down.

øùú Varadrion says to Tengu "Ok, well lets get moving, and runs off following the tunnel"

øùú Tengu says, "The exit should be near... I think"

øùú Rue looks up at Faelnon and then follows after him.

øùú Faelnon stops behind a tree and looks to see if everyone else is okay.

øùú Saam splutters onto the surrounding land of the land shortly after Faelnon

øùú Faelnon is surprised to see Thor hit the surface of the lake and swim over.

øùú Tengu runs along the tunnel, trying not to get Varadrion out of sight in the dark

øùú Faelnon grins, 'Good to see you Thor.'

øùú Rue stops at the same tree as Faelnon and braces herself on it, breathing heavily.

øùú Thor says, 'Can't seem to get rid of me.'

øùú Shandor hears the footfalls of Tengu and Varadrion, 'Hello?'

øùú Saam crawls up to the tree and collapses.

øùú Varadrion hears Shandor and calls out "Hello?

øùú Shandor shouts, 'Hello!'

øùú Shandor waves the torch about.

øùú Rue looks over to Faelnon with worry in her eyes. "Do you think everyone else is ok?"

øùú Varadrion says "Thank the gods we've found you"

øùú Faelnon says, 'Probably. Knowing Shandor, he has probably gone and killed himself again.'

øùú Rue tries to smirk, but is far too worried to.

øùú Varadrion says "Lets get moving"

øùú Shandor smiles, 'Indeed, now lets get out of here before anything caves in.'

øùú Varadrion says "lead the way"

øùú Shandor begins at a brisk pace along the tunnel.

øùú Varadrion follows him

øùú Shandor asks Maifln, 'Why did I know the dragon was coming?'

øùú Tengu comes with the rest, full-heartily agree with Shandor this time.

øùú Rue sinks to the ground with her knees up to her chest. She wraps her arms over the tops of her legs and places her head on her arms, quietly.

øùú Maifln says, 'You remember that gem you knocked off the book? Well, it actually becomes sort of like another sense, you can detect the dragons nearby, like the dragons can detect the Gnomes. We all have one, except the children.' He sighs sadly, tears welling in his eyes, 'There's nothing left...'

øùú Varadrion thinks of the little girl, and draws his cloak over his face, hiding his emotion

øùú Shandor walks silently.

øùú Ariea feels a tear roll down her cheek when she pictures the girl approaching the dragon.

øùú Varadrion says, voice cracking slightly "Lets get out of here"

øùú Shandor sees the entrance by the torch's light.

øùú Shandor steps to it and presses its handle. He leans his weight against it, but it doesn't budge.

øùú Maifln says feebly, 'Please step away.'

øùú Varadrion backs up a bit

øùú Shandor steps out of the way of the door.

øùú Maifln steps in front of the door and whispers in Gnome, [Open.]

<@Narrator> The door hums and clicks.

øùú Maifln presses the handle and the door opens in the side of a small mound within the forest.

<@Narrator> The dragon has gotten bored of this destruction - most likely as nothing remains - the fort and manor house have been torn apart and scorched. The Seventh swiftly takes to the skies as the thick cloud covering remains.

øùú Rue stands and crosses her arms, still worried about the group.

øùú Varadrion steps out of the tunnel and looks into the sky

øùú Rue looks up as the Seventh flies into the sky and a tear rolls down her cheek. She quickly wipes it away.

øùú Maifln croaks, 'I thought I should let you know... before... I had some friends move some of the books from the library to your wagon train... while you were busy else where...'

øùú Tengu strides through the door onto the fresh air.

øùú Shandor thinks of all the people Maifln has lost, friends, family. He looks at Ariea and wonders what he would do if something happened to her.

øùú Shandor says quietly, 'Lets get to the 'train and get out of here.'

øùú Saam groans as he comes to, 'Is it over?'

øùú Faelnon begins back towards the compound, going around the side to look for a gate or other entrance.

øùú Rue follows Faelnon, looking around for the others.

øùú Maifln says, 'There is a gate at the West wall, behind the manor house, I should be able to unlock it.'

øùú Saam follows Rue.

øùú Faelnon sees the gate in the west wall and goes over to have a look at it.

øùú Varadrion says "If it is still standing"

øùú Tengu follows silently.

øùú Ariea sees someone at the gates. She recognises them as Faelnon and Rue. She dashes towards them shouting, 'Thank the gods you are alive!'

øùú Thor complains, appearing from behind a tree, 'I'm alive too...'

øùú Rue turns around. "Ariea!"

øùú Varadrion follows to the gates, and waits for Maifln to open them

øùú Shandor smiles and runs towards them.

øùú Faelnon looks at Shandor, 'You haven't even died? I'm shocked.'

øùú Varadrion pulls his cloak and covers his face completely

øùú Rue hugs Ariea while happy tears run down her face.

øùú Ariea smiles and hugs Faelnon with one arm and Rue with the other, 'You're still alive.' She repeats over and over.

øùú Varadrion turns to Saam

øùú Varadrion asks "Do you still have that leaf you took earlier?"

øùú Maifln approaches the gate slowly, he presses a hand against one of the timber planks that construct it. He mutters a few phrases in Gnome and the door swings inwards.

øùú Saam pats his robe pockets and pulls out a leaf.

øùú Varadrion asks "May I have it please?"

øùú Shandor walks over to Ariea, Rue and Faelnon. Deciding to be proper and manly he hugs them.

øùú Saam just smiles and hands it over

øùú Rue hugs Shandor happily.

øùú Varadrion walks through the gate into the middle of the fort and kneels

øùú Maifln would point out that he is, indeed, still alive as well, but decides just to go find the 'train.

øùú Saam follows Varadrion curious

øùú Shandor hugs Rue, 'What were you guys thinking actually baiting the dragon? At least I think you were, I heard something about yellow bellies.'

øùú Varadrion digs a small hole in the ground and puts the leaf into it. After he covers it up, he mutters a few prayers in elven and kneels silently for a moment.

øùú Thor follows Maifln, 'We'll get ye a cabin.'

øùú Rue laughs and wipes the tears from her face. "We couldn't have you guys dying now, could we? It was Faelnon's idea." she says.

øùú Faelnon grins, 'Hey, I didn't throw the rocks.'

øùú Rue blushes,

øùú Tengu looks at Varadrion, nods and proceeds to the train.

øùú Varadrion mutters, barely audibly "Just a child... a child"

øùú Shandor smiles, 'Come on, we should get to the 'train and get out of here.'

øùú Saam decides Varadrion needs time alone and leaves

<@Narrator> The 'train seems to be in one piece, the dragon didn't seem very interested in it. The drivers have been cowering the in the driver's cabin trying desperately not to attract attention.

øùú Varadrion stands and slowly walks towards the 'train, face still covered by his cloak

øùú Shandor moves towards the 'train.

øùú Varadrion looks towards Shandor and says "I could have saved her.. if I'd run.. I could have stopped her"

øùú Ariea climbs onto the 'train and looks into her cabin, on the window sill are a row of the plants Torldem gave her this morning, 'All that is left of his work... and his people.' She whispers quietly, another tear rolling down her cheek.

øùú Shandor says, 'You couldn't have saved her Varadrion. No-one could've.'

øùú Rue looks over at Varadrion woefully before walking to the 'train and climbing aboard.

øùú Thor leads Maifln to a cabin.

øùú Maifln seems in a daze and just sits down on the bed, staring blankly ahead.

øùú Varadrion bows his head as a drop of liquid falls from his cloak, he quickly turns away and walks towards his cabin.

øùú Rue climbs onto the roof of the 'train and watches what's left of the area burn.

øùú Shandor approaches the drivers, 'Get us out of here. Now.'

øùú Varadrion climbs to the roof, but sits by himself silently, looking towards to fortress

øùú Saam walks up to the train and notices his horse is gone. Not that it matters now.

øùú Rue walks to the very front of the roof of the 'train and lays down with a sigh, closing her eyes.

øùú Tengu enters his cabin and nearly falls on his bed, face depicting a hard mental labour.

<@Narrator> The 'train sets off. As it goes, a wheel hits the clay pot which cracks and shatters to pieces. With the spell gone, the area fades back into the mists. Nothing remains.

øùú Varadrion walks and sits besides Rue, "Are you ok?" He asks

øùú Rue watches the area fade into the mists and wipes one final tear from underneath her eye away.

øùú Shandor looks at the mist covered meadow, no-one will ever know what happened there.

øùú Rue bites her lip and looks up at Varadrion with a slight nod.

øùú Shandor notes that not even the scorch marks remain.

øùú Ariea sits on the bed, sobbing softly.

øùú Shandor sits down beside her and curls an arm around her shoulders, his mind locked on the faces of the gnomes that have died.

øùú Saam sits in the last wagon thinking everyone needed to be alone.

øùú Rue sits up and turns towards the front of the train, resuming the position that she had been sitting in under the tree.

øùú Varadrion takes Rue's lack of answer as a no, and remains silent

øùú Saam looks out the back of the train wondering what he got himself into when traveling with the group.

øùú Tengu looks in the window, watching the castle going into oblivion whence it was before.

øùú Ariea looks towards the plants and makes a vow to herself that they will survive and will spread, in the memory of the fallen gnomes.
