Tildruin FAQ
Buildings
1) Will I be able to make a house for my character?
1a)Will I be able to have a garden near my house if that's a feature?
Shailejron answers:
Your character can rent an existing building or build one from the ground up by designing it in our online editor. The latter will be much more expensive. A house can have adjacent facilities like gardens and shops. Dwellings can also assume other shapes like caves.
2) If I were to have a cave, would it only cost money to build it, or would it cost money to maintain also?
Shailejron answers:
It will cost you money to maintain it also. The reason for this is:
1) It's a great way to take money "out" of the game.
2) We want all houses to be maintained by active players, so that there aren't a huge amount of ghost dwellings across the world. You will lose your building if your payments are long overdue and a new character will have the opportunity of purchasing it.
You're not forced to build a new building, it's much cheaper to buy an existing one.
3) Is it possible for one to build a bridge/moat?
Shailejron answers:
Yes, that should be possible.
4) Can one have rooms in a castle for stables, kitchens, etc.?
Shailejron answers:
Yes!
5) Can anyone buy a house/shop?
Shailejron answers:
Yes!
6) Could one carve out a cave for one's home?
DrCBVI answers:
Sure, for Orcs, Trolls even some Dwarves might like to live in a cave. Instead of building it might be under carving or excavating.
7) Can a character have a house in a tree?
Shailejron answers:
That should be possible.
8) Will people be able to build hill fortresses, maybe even stone castles for their clans/cults etc?
Shailejron answers:
It will be possible to build several types of building, possibly fortresses.
9) How much will it cost monthly to keep a small building such as a house?
Shailejron answers:
This is an impossible question to answer, because you do not yet have a concept of (game) money value. Perhaps you based this question on the assumption that housing would cost you real money?
10) If one chooses to own an inn will one have to make his/her own beer, cider etc.?
Shailejron answers:
A hired NPC shopkeeper will have a standard supply of items for sale, but they will not give the owner much in the ways of revenue. The standard set will also be pretty mundane, so it's advisable for the owner to add a personal touch to the sales menu.
11) Can you lose money owning a shop?
Shailejron answers:
Of course there could be risks of losing money, but that are many other factors to take into account. Have you done enough to draw customers to your shop? Are you goods too highly priced? Is your reputation as a shop owner solid? Are all your goods in perfect quality? etc.
The costs of running a shop will be one of the main concerns when it comes to balancing the shop system.
12) Will there be library in Tildruin? Or can we have library at our organization Hall?
Shailejron answers:
Yes to both of these questions actually.
12a) Will stocking the library with contents be the Nanjarii's duty or the communities?
Shailejron answers:
It will most likely be a mix of both. I imagine that it will be natural for area creators to add a couple of books to their creation.
13) In your shop, will you be able to have a "menu"?
Shailejron answers:
Yes!
14) Will there be sweets to be able to sell?
Shailejron answers:
Absolutely, halflings are famous for their sweets.
15) Are taverns and inns going to be separate buildings, or can be incorporate them into one another?
Shailejron answers:
They can be separate buildings.
16) About towns, are there going to be restrictions on the type of shops, so there wont be like a whole street full of inns?
Shailejron answers:
If you're the area building designing the town then you should take this into consideration.
If you're planning on setting up your own building in an existing area, then you'll have to consult with a building supervisor first.
17) will buildings further away from the main city in tildruin be more expensive to make?
Shailejron answers:
That depends if the materials you wish to use in the area are rare. Building a log cabin the mountains is more expensive than in the woods.
18) When we log out, does the character remain in the world and do things automatically, eg if we own a toy shop, do they continue to sell toys until we return?
Shailejron answers:
No, when you log out the character is no longer visible in the game. All shops will have NPC shopkeepers, so the shop will be open for business while you are offline.
19) Will there be different types of rooms in inns, like luxury and peasant rooms and depending on which room you rent, you gain more health from sleeping?
Shailejron answers:
No, nothing like that. The rooms you stay in when you log off do not really "exist".
