Tildruin FAQ
Races
1) Is it possible to become a Nanjarii for someone like me?
Shailejron answers:
Absolutely. Being a DM is a good merit. We believe that nanjarii candidates will crystallize themselves given time. As earlier stated it will require world and game knowledge, much time and effort, as well as social skills. The player community plays an important role in the recruitment of nanjarii. So if you wish to prove yourself worthy of becoming an admin you must win the heart of the players as well as ours. After all the purpose of the nanjarii is to benefit the game and community. The people we seek must set good examples, have the right mind-set and be able to handle power.
2) Will there only be the races you have mentioned?
Shailejron answers:
There will be other races beyond the ones that are mentioned. Examples of
such would be giants, minotaurs, centaurs and a load of creatures we've come
up with off the top of our heads.
3) Will there be dragons, skeletons, giants insects, you know the usual?
Shailejron answers:
Hm. Does the usual imply vampires, werewolves, mummies,
ghosts, zombies and demons? If that is the case, then I would say no.
Tildruin is a much more mature and sober fantasy world, mainly inspired by
Tolkien, Norse and Greek folklore.
We will do our best to avoid the D&D trap of throwing in a little bit of everything.
Many D&D adventures and worlds suffer from he cocktail concept: "ooh a dungeon!
Lets throw in a couple of mindflayers, two bugbears and a dozen beholders. Hrm.
How did they get there in the first place? Who cares, throw in a demon at the end."
I think you get the picture...
4) Will trolls regenerate in this game?
Sorshepsut answers:
While trolls are indeed large and hardy creatures, they will not be able to regenerate or heal injuries in any other way than other races.
5) If one is an orc can one consume dead people?
Shailejron answers:
I could give you an answer, but you are better off waiting for the new addition to the race section (mentioned in the june report).
6) Can a troll wear gnomish jacket?
Shailejron answers:
Initially they will, but this is one of many things that will be evaluated.
7) Will the races be separated into different areas, or will they be fairly integrated?
Shailejron answers:
The races in the city of Tildruin will each have their own area, like Chinatown. Different rules, customs, guilds, goods apply.
8) Will shop NPCs treat the varied races differently, which would facilitate the need for shopkeepers of different races (thus calling for race segregation?)
Shailejron answers:
Yes! NPC shopkeepers will treat varied races differently. The same goes for many other NPC:s.
9) Is there an area that is mixed?
Shailejron answers:
There is a district in the city that is mixed.
10) Is it at all possible that there will ever be an amphibian race that can build towns underwater? or better yet a race of fish people?
Shailejron answers:
That is possible, but not in the first release.
11) Will there be subterranean races, perhaps the trolls could be the ones that live below ground, or the orcs could live in caves or something?
Shailejron answers:
Yes, the races live in many different types of habitats. This will become more clear in the near future (when we present a much more extensive race document).
12) Will the developers be expanding the races and classes selection?
Yes, we will be working to expand both.
13) Are Orcs stupid?
Shailejron answers:
Orcs are not stupid. Rather it's is cultural differences than anything else that may make an elf or gnome consider orcs of simple intellect - most likely because they'd ponder theories and moral dilemmas concerning an issue, while an orc would be more inclined towards action, and how to enforce her actions.
14) Will there be hybrids?
Shailejron answers:
Half races will be the first addition of new races in Tildruin. I can't promise you when that will happen, buts its a fairly big priority.
15) Can we pick Nanjarii as a race to play as?
Shailejron answers:
The Nanjarii race will be reserved for admins. It is listed as a race because we plan to participate in role-playing events.
16) Will there be sub-races like Drows (that are "dark(evil)" elves) in the game?
Shailejron answers:
There will be sub-races within the game. This will become more clear when we
expand the race section of the site.
The game system itself does not make a distinction between good and evil. These
concepts differ between races and cultures. I.e. orcs do not view themselves as
evil, rather elves as fragile and sensitive. etc.
17) Will there be different types of elves eg High Elves, Wood Elves, Grey Elves and Drow (dark) elves?
Yes there will be different type of elves, dwarves and halflings. This will be more clear when we update the race sections.
18) Will there be different types of houses for different races like in Tolkeins work Eg Dwarves live in mines, Trolls in caves etc?
Shailejron answers:
Yes, the races live in different styles of housing/dwelling. This will be more elaborately explained when we update the race section of the site.
19) At what age do the gnomes reach adulthood, and what is the average age gnomes die?
Shailejron answers:
Gnomes mature at the age of 35, and they may live up to 225 years.
