Tildruin FAQ

Religion

1) How will the Nanjarii control the different religions and gods?

Shailejron answers:

All new religions will be reviewed by the Nanjarii to ensure the quality we are aiming for.

2) Will there be lets say 5 "mother-nature" all with different names and different ways to act?

Shailejron answers:

Yes, there can be more than one religion worshiping mother nature, but they must all have unique names and prayers.
This was posted earlier on our mailing list about religions.

Who can found a religion?
---------------------------
A priest character that has acquired specialization can found a religion. The priest
founding the religion is referred to as High-Priest.

What is needed to found a religion?
------------------------------------
The first step will be to send an application describing the religion's name, description
and creed. The high-priest must also define the name and utterance of a common
prayer used in worship.

Should religions always focus on Deities?
--------------------------------------
No, religions can venerate other sources of power such as energy/forces/spirits/nature.

How does a character join a religion?
-------------------------------------
A character must be converted by a relgion's high-priest or ordains.

What are the benefits?
-----------------------
Roleplaying aspects foremost. High-priests and ordains receive increased power in
prayer if their religion's divine influence increases. Believers can receive blessings
through worship. (don't ask we will not describe blessings atm)

How is religion influence measured?
-----------------------------------
A religions influence is measured by number and dedication. Dedication is expressed
through worship. A small dedicated congregation may be more powerful than a large
fellowship with lukewarm faith. There will be lists that rank religion by divine influence.

What is an ordain?
-------------------
The high-priest of a religion can ordain five priests. Ordains are given authority to
convert other players.

What can a high-priest do about a heretic?
----------------------------------------
A high-priest can _not_ force a believer to abandon his/her religion, but
a ban can be issued. A ban is a mark of condemnation that should be used
with care. A high-priest should provide a way/quest for the believer to
repent and express regret.

3) Can simple people like bards and such found a religion?

Shailejron answers:

Only priests will be able to found a religion, but I'm sure you can team up with a priest and create the groundwork together. Much could be accomplished with imaginative role-play.

4) Will members of the nanjarii council be treated as gods etc or people of power and authority in the game?

Shailejron answers:

No the nanjarii should not be treated as gods, rather be respected for the wisdom that the endurance of time has bestowed upon them.
